Went here at 4:25 pm last night. It still had a long line. Bought the large fresh frukt streudel as a thank you gift for friends who took us to breakfast. The line moved quickly and we are lucky we got anything. Ended up with a giant streudel, a personal streudel, a pkg of pb choco blondies, apple tarts, and apple crumble… they forgot my gingerbread boy and coffee. Disappointing but i fully understand since by the time we got to the front of the line there was another line to the door. Delicious means long lines and occassional errors

Fruit strudels to die for. Always worth the long line! Very cozy place not too much room and always busy. No complaining here, though. My favorite dessert spot.

I give them a 5 stars! The pastries and cakes are awesome!!! Once you try a strudel, you will fall in love. The service is great. Never experienced anything negative. The cakes are a bit pricey, however, they are worth it due to the taste and quality.

Wow, the fruit strudel is amazing! Not my first choice when I ordered several items but turned out to be my favorite and just as delicious as everyone said.

A friend brought me a big piece of the fruit strudel and whoooh wheee… it was AMAZING! I can’t wait to visit the shop and try the banana boat, carrot cake, and hazelnut cake. After that, they will earn the 5th star

This place is amazing. The fruit strudel is hands down one of the best desserts ever! The fresh fruit cake is also my favorite. You def can not go wrong ordering from here. I recently got my sons first birthday cake from here and they were really helpful in making sure they got my order and design correct(it was a simple design but they made sure it was exactly how I wanted it). Best of all, the cake was delicious!

One of the best bakeries in San Diego! Hans and Harry’s is known for their delicious fruit streudels. I usually get one every time I come down to San Diego from Los Angeles. However, my most recent visit I ordered the vanilla with raspberry and white chocolate cake for my birthday. Hans and Harry’s helped make my birthday memorable and delicious. I have to say that it was one of the best cakes I’ve had. I had about five slices of cake because it was so delicious. The cake was so light and fluffy, and they used whip cream as frosting. They added white chocolate shavings to the cake, and the raspberry made the cake very sweet. I will definitely continue to come to Hans and Harry’s!

I have been coming to this bakery for about 4 years and all the cakes that I’ve ordered have been delicious. Also their pastries are great. My husband loves the key lemon pie. Great customer service!

They have cakes, struddles, fruit tarts, cookies and a lot more stuff. It does get crazy busy in here on weekends. There not open on Sunday’s either. There’s always a lot of staff members to help everyone out you just have to be patient :)

I finally made it in here yesterday to check it out… now I fear for my waistline!!! I mean, I’m already a chubby chica. I waltz into Hans & Harry’s, pick up a few things to try out, eat them, and now I’m sitting here already trying to figure out how I’m going to get my next fix! Damn you, Hans! Damn you, Harry! The hubs and I, so far, have shared a pineapple upside down cake, cheese danish and strawberry fruit pastry… but the star of the show was the white chocolate raspberry cake. Seriously, it was unbelievable. I can’t imagine anything coming out of this place not tasting amazing. The store is on the small side and it was STUPID packed when we went in(made it hard to look in cases, but the line moved super fast). I’m not sure if it’s like that a lot, or if because it was the day before Easter. Either way, it’s not surprising. They’re putting out high quality baked goods for very decent prices. See you soon, Hans & Harry!

I literally go here for any time that I need a cake/strudel for an occasion. The strudels here are hands down the best in town. I’ve never had anything like it. Prices for it have constantly been going up but despite that, it is worth it. A large strudel will cost you around $ 29 now. Its enough to feed like 6 – 8 people. When you arrive and it is packed, you will be given a number before you can order. Service is really fast and the employees are all so friendly! They also have a bunch of other baked goods but I haven’t tried many of them but I do like their ginger bread men :)

This place used to be the the bomb! I have been buying their pastries for years and until recently have never been disappointed. The«beehive» is a light puff pastry«filled with vanilla cream». Only they no longer fill it. In fact, they barely top it with cream. Clearly they are trying to cut costs, and it’s very, VERY noticeable. The coconut scone is the best but they don’t seem to have those anymore. What a shame this place has started the downhill slide.

Just making another review because it’s been a while and I continue to come here regularly. This bakery offers nothing fancy as far as décor is concerned. But you get a real local/neighborhood vibe. Plenty of staff behind the counter are available to help, and this place is always busy throughout the whole day. They are known for their fruit strudels. But they also offer cakes(made to order, custom, and frozen ready to buy), pastries, and desserts. I’ve tried several items, and i am pleased with it all… Peanut butter bar– imagine a brownie consistency with a peanut butter taste. Yummy! Almond croissant– flaky, buttery classic croissant taste and texture, but with a yummy almond paste and a bit chewy inside. Yum! Bran muffin– dense and moist, slightly crusty top and a sweet flavor. Cupcakes– just a thin chocolate or vanilla ganache topping, the flavor is all in the cake. Rich moist vanilla taste. I order their cakes all the time for different occasions. Their flavors are«special» but not too exotic or extreme. You can order a cake a couple days in advance and have it ready for pick up. Or choose from their freezer, where they have a good selection of frozen cakes that just take a couple hours to defrost and taste just as fresh. So many to choose from. Most recently, I ordered their hazelnut/chocolate cake. Good flavor, light and creamy frosting, dense and moist cake. It was very popular. Just a couple tables inside the small bakery, and a few small tables. They offer drip coffee, but i think it would be kinda cool if they partnered with a coffee shop or barista or anything, bc ally of their items would be awesome to have with a hot drink… But like I said, no frills or fancy décor. Just really yummy baked goods.

Let me just start by saying that this place is absolutely exquisite! It has become a family tradition in our house to bring their delicious strudels for birthdays, holidays, get togethers, BBQs, anniversaries, you name it. Any occasion our family comes together we share a yummy slice with some nice hot coffee. The prices: Sooo affordable. So much more worth it than getting a $ 40-$ 60 ice cream cake, in my opinion. Plus, their cakes have fresh cut fruit. YOUCAN’T BEATTHAT! Location: Tucked away in a tiny little shopping center where you wouldn’t expect to find such a treat. As soon as you walk through the door it’s like heaven. On top of the strudel shell for my aunt’s birthday(they also put birrhday labels which is freaking awesome!) we also bought their walnut cinnamon twists, raisin cinnamon rolls(which are HUGE and covered with delicious icing), and a small fruit tart. I handed her $ 40 and I still got change back. Their entire staff is so friendly, helpful and hard working. You can definitely tell that they have a great work ambiance. There’s no doubt that Hans and Harry’s is truly a gem in San Diego.

There is only one reason I’m not giving them a 5th star… what bakery that not only specializes in cakes and tarts, but also features an enormous selection of Sunday morning confections like croissants, tarts, eclairs isn’t open on Sundays? Argh… that has bit me in the butt a couple of times when I promised my hosts a Hans & Harry on a Sunday evening only to find out they are closed! I have eaten a plethora of Hans & Harry confections but am only just now writing a review … crazy. I will say that the chocolate éclair is delicious and I regretted buying the mini versus the large. Didn’t realize that the price for the mini was $ 1.85 yet the large is 4 times the size and I think only $ 2.85. Argh again! Love the chocolate bomb, tres leches cake, apple caramel cake. Wish they would put more icing on the cake with that one as I would buy jars of their caramel icing if they would sell just that! Of course everyone already talks about the fruit tarts so I won’t add to that. They have seasonal items too like a pumpkin tart that was really tasty. Just got back on a Saturday morning and the refrigerators and freezers are stocked with a huge selection of cakes and tarts. I guarantee by the end of the day there might not be one left. Go early and don’t go on Sundays!!!
