I was visiting Bonham, TX with my husband for the weekend and was directed here by a friend. Wow, I wish I could have gone someplace else for dinner! First of all, service was extremely slow and could definitely use more improvement. It took awhile to get our water and it didn’t even have the lemons I requested. Our food also felt like it took forever. The waitress, while kind, spoke very quietly and seemed a little confused about the menu items. However, it is not the service that gives this place a one star rating, it was the food. Seriously the worst meal I have ever eaten in a restaurant. I ordered the chicken flautas and it was served to me completely burnt/inedible. The refried beans and rice were extremely salty. I took one bite of each and could not touch my food anymore. It was a complete waste of my time and money(and hunger!). My husband and I were disappointed as we were looking forward to having Mexican food down in Texas.

Got the burrito dinner and Chile Relleno. Both had way too much salt and cheese. Threw away the Chile Relleno

Our visit last night was hands down the WORST customer service I have ever received at a restaurant. After waiting for 40 minutes for our food(fajitas & enchiladas) and nobody had come up to us, we asked the manager what was going on. The manager, Diego, pretty much ignored us. We finally decided to leave and eat elsewhere. When I approached Diego again and told him why we were leaving he ignored me and handed me a $ 3 ticket for our drinks. He was rude, unprofessional, and never apologized for the service. We will NEVER be back.

Great Tex-Mex, the only problem is the chili con carne is horrible,

The service at this place is its downfall. The food is average or above average, but getting seated, placing an order, and receiving your food all take way, way too long. I won’t be coming here anymore after having a couple of these experiences.

The Enchiladas Solares are a must eat. The beef enchilada has a tomatillo sauce on it and is accompanied by a cheese enchilada with tomato sauce and a chicken enchilada with a sour cream sauce that steals the show. The refried beans taste Mexican – they have that charred flavor, and the rice is plenty tangy. Taste and see…

I was surprised to find this place in Bonham, not a large town and not too many dining options there that don’t involve a value menu, lol. Anyway I decided to give Luna Azul a chance. It is a nice little restaurant in a small town café atmosphere, but they have livened the place up and done well with the space. The servers all seemed young and inexperienced but they are attentive and our server was polite and put our order in as requested. I ordered the Enchiladas Celeste, chicken enchiladas with sour cream and tomatillo sauce. They were excellent and filling. Sauce was creamy and delicious. Spanish rice was fluffy and well spiced, not greasy or clumpy as I have come to expect from many small town Mexican restaurants. My date ordered the cheese enchiladas and I after asking for a bite, was pleasantly surprised by the chili sauce, dark and smokey flavored, almost like a mole. Very authentic and delicious! The chips and salsa were well up to par and the avocado sauce(I wouldn’t call it guacamole but its whatever the green sauce is they bring with the chips) is very tasty. The only real critique I have was the refried beans. While they were flavorful, they were a little to runny for my taste. In my opinion they just needed a little bit longer on the stove to evaporate some of the water. We had the flan for desert which was good. All in all I think that you would not expect to find a great little Mexican restaurant like this out in a small out of the way town like Bonham, but I’m glad they are here, and hopefully will gain the popularity and notoriety they deserve from the local population.

This place is so cute, and the food is excellent. Very good service, too. The only reason I’m rating four stars instead of five is that the chips were only so-so, but everything else was amazing. And there was a bonus adorable baby to welcome us in!

For a small town Mexican restaurant this place is above average. Food was delivered quickly and it was hot but the chili con carne sauce is a bit too dark it almost looked like chocolate. The taste was decent but nothing to rave about. Salsa is average, rice was very bland but I will say the enchiladas had just the right amount of REAL cheese and the beams were tasty. The décor is beautiful and really unexpected for a Mexican restaurant in a quaint downtown area. They do offer WIFI nut have to get the security password from the cashier. Service was efficient but lacked that small town personality that you would expect. Overall, I would eat hear again but skip anything with the chili con carne.

This is my favorite mexican food place in Bonham & that is saying something considering how many of them there are in this small town. It is only slightly pricier than some of the neighboring establishments, but to me, it’s completely worth it given the quality & quantity of the food and the dining experience in general. Located right off of the town square, Luna Azul isn’t a large restaurant, but it’s big in spirit. There’s plenty of choices on the menu, most of which are standard tex-mex, but there are some fairly unique dishes, too. The salsa is good & they’ll bring you some wicked tasty green sauce if you ask(free of charge, of course). It is a bit hot, so just be prepared. I also think they have pretty solid iced tea if that’s your thing. I’m a fan of the lunch menu since it provides slightly less food for a discounted price. I highly recommend the fajitas, and order them spicy! Doing so adds a whole new flavor to the meat which I love. You also get a lot of veggies with it, rice, beans, & guacamole. Trust me — you won’t go hungry! Service can be pretty slow, but the staff is always nice & friendly. Try to avoid the high point of the lunch & dinner hours and that won’t be an issue. I almost always have leftovers when I leave here, so the prices don’t bother me since I consider it paying for two meals :)

We visited this place for Lunch and got the Fajitas. We had a large group and called in earlier for a reservation which they honored. They were more than glad to add more to the reservation when we got there and were prompt with our orders(we pre ordered, all 15 chicken fajita’s). They had fresh nachos, and their salsa and a green cilantro sour cream concoction was excellent. The fajita’s came with the usual accompaniments and were well cooked. We had the ice tea which was very good too! All in a all a great place to get a quick lunch. And a great ambience to match.
