This is the one time that my experience will prevent me from ever doing business with a company ever again. Let me start by saying I discovered disc replay years ago and had frequented the Downers Grove location. The prices were good and I could always manage to find several cd’s and dvd’s to my liking. Fast forward several years and my need for speed and convenience has shifted me to iTunes and Amazon but still, I have a son who like video games and occasionally I found myself back in Disk Replay looking for a deal. It seems that over the last couple of years the prices are not as competitive with GameStop and when my son comes to me with $ 125 worth of games, I look them up and tell him that we will go to GameStop where at least I can get our reward points if I’m paying the same price. But here is why they get the 2 stars: Customer Service: the last few times I’ve gone in there, it’s been miss or not even trying. My most recent trip left me fuming. Our family recently switched carriers and were left wondering what to do with our old iPhones. After looking at the phones, Sprint was willing to give $ 175 for our 5s and $ 86 for our 5c’s while GameStop made comparable offers. After checking with Disk Replay to find out if they buy iPhones, I encouraged my mother to make the trip with me to see about selling them. It’s obvious that we spoke to whoever was on the phone when I called because he wasn’t really listening to us as we gave answers to his questions. He was more concerned with pressing the fact that they would check if the phones were stolen, and asking about if we had any outstanding bills on the phones. He made a huge production about examining every minute detail of the phones and turned the 5s I had 2 offers on away completely. He continued to go out of his way to be a prick and go into this tirade of all the things he had to do in order to examine the phones. I was angry and mortified to be treated so poorly. He acted like we stole the phones. I understand a store’s policy to check out the history of a phone but there are ways to go about relaying that to your customer and if you do find out they are stolen then duh, run a sting operation on them. They ask for id’s with sells or better yet call the cops. I was in that store with my mother and 2 children, and we were completely mistreated by this employee. Customer Service: the only saving grace to this unfortunate waste of time was his co-worker who while not helping us directly was definitely paying more attention to our answers than the employee«assisting» us. I realize that every place of business has its moments and quite unfortunate for us we got caught in a bad one.

Only Disc Replay in Bolingbrook. Store has been remodeled in the last year or so. They have a fair sized CD collection, but really, who looks for those these days? They have tons of DVDs and most of all a lot of newer console games. They still have N64 games, Sega games(consoles unknown), Game Boy Color and Advanced games, PS2 games, and accessories to all of these consoles. They also have a cabinet full of gadgets such as the Eye toy and iPod devices, along with PSPs and Playstation Vitas and Gameboy 3DSes. Lastly they also have box DVD sets and some large posters on sale every now and then. I’m unsure how the pricing goes for newer consoles and DVDs and CDs. But as far as N64 games and PS2 games, they are affordable. N64 games range from as low as $ 1.99 to as high as $ 24.99 PS2 games range from as low as $ 3.99 to $ 30 Older and much more classic titles cost more. For example, I saw a limited edition GOLD Legend of Zelda cartridge going for $ 25. That would have gone perfectly with my limited edition GOLDN64, but I wasn’t willing to pay $ 25 for the same game that costs less. Oh well. Prices here are okay. I only come in for PS2 and N64 games so prices are relatively low. But I do see some newer games for XBOX360 cost the same as games from Gamestop or Best Buy that are new. It just doesn’t make sense, why? The resale value should be at least $ 5 to $ 10 cheaper. Oh yes, and if you have a scratched disk, I believe they do, do resurfacing for about $ 2-$ 3 I’ll rate it a 4 out of 5 based on selection and meeting my preferred prices.

This has got to be the worst Disc Replay… I understand they couldnt except some of my games/CDs, but the kid behind the register was a little dickhead whom was rude and a burden on my day. He took a long time to quote me(25 minutes of scanning through scratched LPs got boring quick) and what they were willing to give me was crap. I took these same games/CDs to the Downers Grove store and they gave me a more fair exchange. Hopefully this particular store goes under or has a management overhaul.

They’ve got a pretty poor selection and prices that are on par with new stuff at Best Buy. I realize that they don’t get to choose what comes in and what doesn’t so there’s not much they can do for selection, but they do set the prices and the prices here are outrageous for used goods. I once bought a Phil Collins cd here(don’t you judge me and my musical tastes and don’t even pretend like you’ve never rocked out to «In the Air Tonight»), then I went across the street to Best Buy just to check things out, and they had the same CD but brand new and for only $ 1 more. The DVDs here are particularly expensive. I’m not paying $ 16 for used goods when Target probably has it new for $ 14. Skip it.
