Great tasting empanadas, little place on Orchard Street. All of the empanadas are a good value, great tasting and can really fill you up. Owner is a really nice guy but it is not a late night or even and early evening go to place. It closes around 7pm so if you are driving by and you see it open, stop in and try some food there, you won’t be disappointed. I heard their sandwiches are good also but I always stick with the empanadas.

Best Empanadas I have had so far! The owners are friendly and they assist you in all ways possible. I always go with gardel Empanadas and play around with the dessert Empanadas– all the dessert Empanadas are too good! Don’t forget to ask for their spicy sauce when you of all the food is really cheap!

I LOVETANGO’s! I came here often(sometimes weekly) for several years until I moved away recently. I have tried many of their empanadas savory and dessert and each and everyone of them is heavenly. I seriously miss and dream about the el puerco, fugazza, and cordoba. One day I will have to visit Boise just for the empanadas. In addition to their amazing food, Tangos is run by the sweetest family and it was an absolute pleasure to know them.

I so love moving to a new town(not the packing and moving, but the chance to experience new cuisines). As a newbie to Unilocal,I have been surfing the reviews to seek out all my new Unilocal peeps fav spots and Tangos rose to the top of the list and I see why. Fast, fresh, hot and not something that you could easily fine even in LA and I am not talking about Lower Alabama. I had the pineapple, ham, and mozzarella and was delighted. Hot cripsy sweet, saltly and delish. Based on my bro and sista Unilocaler reviews I want to try the Gaucho next time! Ohh Boise so many new places to try and adventures to experience and so little time, Thank you to Tangos and Unilocal for welcoming me to Boise! The prices at Tangos were really reasonable too!

Get your dancing shoes on and get to Tango(ing)! Adventured outside of my downtown bubble to Tango’s to experience some of these empanadas I have been hearing about. A friend and her husband experienced Tango’s by splitting several empanadas so they could try more! OK, COUNTMEIN! We ordered multiple empanadas such as the Gaucho, Moleh, Rancho, and Elpuerco. The Gaucho was my favorite with beef, eggs, olives, onions, bell peppers and spices. The counter provided a sauce that paired amazingly well. Ask for it so you don’t miss out! My next favorite was a surprise. I have never liked Moleh in my life. I loved it here! Rancho was my next on my list and was filled with refried beans, in house mexican chorizo, jalapeños and cheddar cheese. This was a spicy one. I wasn’t a huge fan of Elpuerco. This empanada had a strong pork taste. It surprised me that I wasn’t a fan because if there are two things in life I love it is homemade green salsa and potatoes. Worth a try but I am going to spend my calories on their desserts! Lucky me I was able to test two desserts! The Brazilian was the first which was filled with Brazilian chocolate. I am glad I tried it once but that was enough for me. The other one I got a nibble of that was to die for was the Doc. Do it! Try it! The gentlemen at the counter was super friendly and excited to have us as new customers. I can’t wait to try their other goodies!

Go-to lunch spot since it’s so close to where I work. FOOD: For me, GAUCHO is the way to go. I love it and I always order 2 each time. The amount of beef filling is good enough and the pastry is not too heavy/cakey. Since I’m not a big fan of fries, I always opt for 2 empanadas instead of 1 empanada and fries. I’ve tried gardel and I’m not a fan of this one. The chicken is slightly dry and there was little sauce in it, resulted in a rather bland empanada. My boyfriend tried barbecue and it was just OK, nothing special. The price is very affordable for the size of empanadas that you get. PLACE/AMBIANCE: The place is a quite small, maybe just 8 – 10 tables of 2. So I won’t recommend coming in a large group(max 4), except maybe if you come in a little late when all the people during lunch hour are gone. I’ve never done this myself though. During lunch hour, there can be a very long line. There were 2 occasions where I entered the place and it was just too crowded and I was in a hurry, so I left. Same goes with the parking lot, it’s small — maybe just enough for 6 – 8 cars. So parking can be a hassle too. I’ve noticed there are specific days(like Tuesday) when it’s not as crowded as the others, but in general it’s a pretty popular place. SERVICE: No service here. You just order at the counter, they’ll call out your name, you go eat and then bus your own table. Pretty simple and I don’t have any complaints. The people behind the counter are always so nice and friendly :-)

Cheap food, delicious food, and friendly owners. What more do you want? The empanadas are stuffed to order and then fried, so you’re getting the freshest food possible. The options are varied. The gaucho, a traditional empanada with ground beef, egg, olive and spices is a pleasant, mild choice. I used to love the rancho, full of beans, chorizo, cheese and jalapenos until my belly decided it didn’t love me. Now I stick to my favorite, the cordoba with mushrooms, mozzarella and a wine sauce and then choose another depending on my daily whim. They also have dessert empanadas and their combos include a drink and tasty crinkle fries for 2.50 extra. The owner is a jovial Argentinean man with a great smile and a willingness to remember faces and frequent customers. If you know Spanish, try it out here.

Delicious. No need for fluff. What you get is incredibly nice people serving incredibly good food at incredible prices. That’s pretty much it. Just go and you will see that what I say is true… every last word.

I can’t find fault with this place. Fantastic lunch spot, but it does get a bit crowded, that’s their fault for being so good. Giant selection of empanadas. Prices are dirt cheap, two empanadas, fries and a drink for under $ 10 after tip. I often get lunch and then dinner to go. If the great food wasn’t enough to keep you coming back the service certainly is. The owner makes you feel like an old regular your first time in. I think he genuinely cares about each and every customer’s experience. Plus he’s just one of those guys who’s smiles will brighten your day. Seriously.

This place is really great. Some of the best food I’ve found in the area. Authentic recipes from Argentina. Will frequent on every visit. Had a chili, a ranco and a bbq. Too much food one sitting but too good so what the heck…

I finally got to try this place! I’ve purposely driven out of my way to try this place 3 times, but have been unsuccessful because they close at 7pm, one time their credit card machine wasn’t working and I didn’t have cash, and they are closed on Sundays :(Therefore the –1 star All that aside, I wanted to try those famous $ 2.50 empanadas, and that I did! My husband and I ordered 4 different empanadeas(Gaucho, Moleh, Elpurco, and La Bocah) and split each. All were so tasty and filling! We also ordered fries, but the empanadas fills us up so we didn’t even finish the fries. If you happen to be in the area on the right day and at the right time, stop in! This fantastic meal is one not to miss. Spend you $ 10 here rather than the McDonalds drive-thru.

This is authentic Argentine food. I’ve been to Argentina and recall this delicious style of empanada. I know they serve subs to round out the menu, but the empanadas are the real attraction here. While they’ve added more non-Argentinian versions of their empanadas, the crusts are still the same beautifully flaky and tasty bites, no matter the filling. I ordered a bunch for a group of 15 by calling ahead for take out. It worked well as all were labeled(on the outside of 2 large pizza boxes). The dessert empanadas got great reviews from my group as well. Friendly owner. I hope they open another location someday in Meridian.

I don’t understand why this place gets liked so much. People are nice here. But the food is really junky and unthoughtfully designed. Which means they used a lot of white bread with a little fill-ins. This makes the piece looks HUGH but what you are consuming are just lots of carbs with little nutrients.

I don’t think this restaurant is for me. This week I ordered a Chili Empanada, a La Boca Empanada, an El Puerco Empanada and a sandwich for a coworker so we could try numerous menu items and see if it was the real deal. The Chili Empanada arrived as a Cherry Empanada… I could see how that could happen, but I am not the biggest cherry fan and it looked like it was filled with canned maraschino cherries and custard. Then deep fried in an empanada… not for my palate. The la boca empanada tasted like a deep fried hot pocket… I think I will stick with the original hot pocket to save the calories. I am willing to give this restaurant another shot… but all of the menu items we tried were really heavy and maybe just not for us.

I want to give this place a higher rating because it’s a great business run by wonderful people who make some pretty great food. But honestly, it’s just an average empanada. And parking can be a bit hairy during the lunch rush. My go to are the pork, ham and cheese, and the beef empanadas-all quite tasty, just not the best. My family is from Argentina and these empanadas just aren’tt as good as the ones my family make or the ones I’ve had when I visited them in Buenos Aires. They are, however, good enough to hit the spot when you’re too lazy to make your own. For those of you who want to take a stab at making empanadas at home, La Saltena makes a really delicious empanada shell that you can buy online.

Tango’s gets a high mark from me based on pure value alone. The empanadas are inexpensive, filling, and customizeable to suit your particular taste. The french fries are your garden variety crinkle-cut type, but they’re so wonderfully salted that I order them every time I visit regardless. The owner is kind and helpful, and the service is speedy. I enjoy the salsas that you can request as well. Succinctly put, Tango’s is an inexpensive and tasty place for lunch.

Denizens of Treasure Valley, this is exactly the kind of place I started using Unilocal to find years ago. Let’s face it, we all know what to expect from chain restaurants. One McDonalds is the same as any other… aside from service issues. But the little«ma and pa» places? The«holes in the wall?» The hidden gems that only the«locals» used to know about? These are the places the Internet was made to help us find! And so here is a «hidden gem» that everyone in Boise should check out. Super friendly service, super yummy food, and a super good value. What else can I say about Tango’s? Ok, quite a bit, so let’s get on with the review! Empanadas are a Latin American dish, mostly associated with Argentina(which is what Tango’s is based on.) You can find them in other places in Latin America, including Mexico. Basically they are stuffed pastries filled with pretty much any kind of yumminess you can conceived of. Tango’s has breakfast versions, savory for lunch or dinner, and(the best in my opinion) desserts. So no matter what you’re in the mood for, they have a fluffy pillow of goodness to satisfy you. I stopped in with my son a few days ago and we picked up a pork and a Hawaiian for the savory, and chocolate and a «Doc»(cherries and cream) for dessert. The pork was amazing… shredded pork with potato and a green chili sauce. My wife thought the Hawaiian was a bit on the bland side, needed some kind of sauce or seasoning. The chocolate was a hit with my son. And I liked the«Doc» quite a bit. Overall we were pleased with our selections and I’ll gladly sample some others on my next visit. Service was friendly and quick. The gentleman at the register offered us a printed menu to look over our options and had some recommendations for the kids. So with all this good to say, why knock off a star? Well mostly because my wife was just less than impressed and didn’t seem as anxious to return, and while I was quite satisfied with the food… it didn’t really«wow» me in a way that says«five stars!» I know… kind of arbitrary, but when I know a place is five stars, I know it right as I walk out the door. I walked out of Tango’s thinking, «Yeah, I’ll be back, but I’ve had better.» Bottom line folks, if you want to support a great«ma and pa» spot preparing great ethnic food, check out Tango’s. You won’t leave disappointed, or hungry!
