I scheduled a visit with Teresa after receiving a $ 25 off coupon from a Unilocal event I attended. I love massages, so yes please! When I finally went to schedule my appoint(which I did online), I found that she had somewhat limited hours and had to schedule it for 2 weeks out. I’m the kind of person that likes things to happen immediately, so this was a bummer for me. The building would have been somewhat difficult to find, except I had been there before(to see a different masseuse) and Teresa left directions on my machine along with the confirmation voicemail. Very helpful! When I arrived, Teresa was patiently waiting for me and greeted me nicely. As I was filling out new patient paperwork, she asked where I found her. I let her know I had received a coupon from Unilocal,to which she replied«They are always calling me asking if I want to advertise and I keep telling them no!» This statement was really off-putting, especially as someone who is only bringing you business because of Unilocal. It came across as snooty, suggesting that she didn’t need the extra business. The room was a little odd. There is no office or reception area, just a fairly large room with a few chairs against the wall(where I sat to fill out paperwork) and the massage bed in the middle of the room. There are also two large windows that, despite having blinds, let a fair amount of light into the room. There was also a lamp on in the corner. I prefer my massage rooms to be small and dark, as to add to the relaxing atmosphere, and this was not that. — I will add, however, that when I flipped to my back and was laying face-up, Teresa covered my eyes with a towel, which was better than nothing. The towel was removed during the face/neck portion of the massage, which let in more light than I would have liked. The massage itself was wonderful. Teresa is a great masseuse and really listened to what I told her about areas of pain and of sensitivity. I don’t like deep-tissue, and she did a great job adjusting to my comfort level and asking if the pressure was okay. I noticed(mostly through smell, and the fact that they were all laid out on the counter) that there was some sort of essential oils involved. I don’t mind this, but I would have liked to have been told what she was using and why. My only thought was, «Well good thing I’m not allergic to anything.» Upon finishing the massage, Teresa dismissed herself to let me get dressed. She takes cash, check and card — which is very helpful. I opted for a check. I was a little surprised when she told me the total was $ 40, even with the coupon. I had read on the website that first time customers are only charged $ 45, so I was expecting to pay much less. I suppose that she didn’t want to combine the new customer discount with the coupon, which is fair, but was not stated anywhere. I didn’t want to argue though, so I wrote the check and thanked her. OVERALL it was a good massage, but the atmosphere really lost it for me. That, combined with the remark about Unilocal upon our meeting, made it so I probably won’t be returning.

Last week, a rare sort of ambitious can-do spirit overwhelmed my senses and I decided with a hubris apropos of nothing to repaint my kitchen with all it’s nooks, crannies, and odd angles. So, as I balanced precariously on one foot, in a shoe that was both inappropriate in style – low heel – and condition – wet from the rain, atop a bar stool – it shouldn’t have been a complete surprise when I fell a** over tea kettle(as my mama would say) slamming ribs into the counter, head into cupboards, and sending pride sailing straight into the garbage disposal(and yet somehow landing perfectly, if a bit awkwardly, on one low heeled foot – the things we women can do in heels! But, I digress…). So, my people – I was sore. I mean, sore doesn’t really even begin to cover it. Every muscle in my body was pretty outraged. Off to Teresa at Elite Massage Studio I went(albeit gingerly, with perhaps a bit of a limp). The environment of Elite is soothing with soft music playing in the background, low lighting, and she uses gorgeous smelling aromatherapy oils depending on your individual needs(for me – I got one called balance… which was probably appropriate). Teresa is friendly and can carry on easy conversation or just silently allow you to relax, whichever your preference(I go for a combination of the two). It is said that some people possess«healing hands,» though I had never really experienced this phenomenon personally. I can now say I have. The woman’s hands are absolutely celestial. I have received multiple massages in my life from other therapists and though they were all pleasant, they didn’t give me the feeling of balance, peace, and overall well being that this one did. If you’re stressed, sore, or are just in the market for an occasional massage, do yourself a favor and get it here. It is money well spent!
