Anytime I have to come over this way for work, I stop here. Burgers are great. Service is great. Fun place to come to. Small town USA represented here!

It’s to bad this place has really gone down hill. It used to be a very nice place to have a ice cream or shake. I’ve been frequent in this establishment since 1971. The other day I went in I had the worst experience with a young employee I’ve ever had. He was cleaning something and didn’t even acknowledge us being there didn’t say hello or how are you you’re welcome but hey. I was extremely frustrated and ask him if I could see the manager or the owner. He informed me the owners were hunting so I left him my phone number and asked him to have them call me when they get back. I waited 3 weeks no call. So today I took it upon myself to call and ask for the owner or manager. And the manager got on the phone I tried to explain to her what happened. Well she got on the defensive immediately and started telling me how nice this kid was how good he is and how well he takes care of the customers when he’s on shift. She would have nothing to do with what I was trying to tell her. She said she called me and left a message. There was no call there was no message I waited a long time to get a call or a message. She actually argue with me that that’s not the way they treat their customer’s. I tried to explain to her that I wasn’t upset at this time I was trying to help her establishment. I’ve been a business owner and manager for over 35 years and I would never tell a customer that called me with a complaint that they were wrong. It’s unfortunate this day and age that a small establishment like this country to customers badly and think nothings going to come of it. I do miss the days that the original owner had this place because at that point in time it was a great place to go. I will never patronize this establishment again.

Oh, I LOVE Delsa’s. The owners know me when I come in(which actually isn’t too often), and always greet me with a smile. They sure impress me and I know that if I want a local ice cream treat, Delsa’s is the spot to get it. They often frequent local fairs and shows, so you can get them on the road if you don’t make it over to their part of town. Food: I’ve ordered food and treats. The cheeseburger melts in your mouth, almost as if there’s too much cheese on it, which is never a bad thing. The tots are crispy and fresh! I love the ice cream. Whether it’s a double scoop in a waffle cone or a sundae piled high with whipped cream, it’s all good. My husband always orders their soft serve, while I always get a hand-scooped dessert. Their seasonal and promo flavors tend to sell out fast, and they’ll usually advertise specials on their restaurant sign. The apple pie ice cream was the best thing I’ve ever tasted from there… they took an entire apple pie and mixed it into a container of vanilla bean ice cream. It was exquisite! Drinks: THESHAKES. ORDER A SHAKE! Any flavor is great… you won’t be disappointed. They’re huge and so thick! Atmosphere: The area where you order is a little cramped, but it’s nothing to hold me back from scoring a sundae or shake… or a cheeseburger! Service: For the limited staff they work with, their service is prompt, reliable, and very helpful. They always go out of their way to ensure I have a good experience. Happy Hour Offerings: n/a

This place just isn’t what it used to be since they got new owners. It’s incredibly basic now, and a limited menu. Looks very different now, and food wasn’t nearly as good either. Service wasn’t bad, but not great either… Not returning.

This is a Boise staple. It’s great little ice cream parlor and burger joint. It’s clean, it’s good, and best of all affordable. Their chocolate dipped cone are so much better than Fancy Freeze’s. Delsa’s is a thick and rich dip, unlike the liquidy, thin coating at Fancy Freeze. The workers are ready and efficient at their job. Not sure what other reviews are talking about when they weren’t greeted– I was greeted just fine by the teenaged boy working tonight with a «Hey how’s it goin’? What can I get for you?» Unless the other reviewers were looking for a madman smiling crazy and ecstatic tone of voice with fake enthusiasm… I thought the greeting was just fine. But then again, I’m typically pleased with a job well done and a clean place. Some people can not be pleased no matter what; that’s why I like to look at that person’s other reviews.

We have been to this place for ice cream three times. The teenage girls at the counter have never greeted a customer, made conversation or thanked them for coming in and buying ice cream. The first two times we let it slide but today it happened again. A tall skinny young girl looked at us and others like she was doing them a favor. The ice cream is okay but very over-priced. We will not come back until the owner trains the staff a little better. We have seen an older woman working the counter before and she was also unfriendly. We suspect that she is the owner. I guess the fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Well… this was probably my 10th time trying it since it reopened. Poor service, sub par product, which in turn makes the prices suck. My chocolate ice cream was chalky and had chunks of ice all throughout it, vanilla ice cream tasted like frozen milk, no vanilla flavor. I gave one star because they gave me a decent amount of hot fudge, but I guess it offset the teaspoon of marshmallow topping. I remember it 15 years ago, awesome owners, amazing ice cream, and out of this world prices. I’ll definitely agree with everyone else’s complaint of the poor customer service, the only words the guy said to my partner and I was the total. No greeting, eye contact or anything. Customer service, prices, and product were all the same-bad. Make the extra 10 minute drive to goodies.

I walked in there was one other patron. The older cashier lady and young boy and girl made eye contact with me I was expecting a «hello» or «welcome to delsas» but they did not greet me just stared. Awkward. Another person came in a few mins later and they didn’t greet them either. I ordered the lemon custard ice cream and vanilla soft serve the cashier lady handed me a chocolate soft serve and i told her it was vanilla she insisted that I ordered chocolate so instead of arguing i just took the chocolate. Nothing amazing. After signing my receipt instead of a thank you I got a scoff. delsas does not appreciate their customers. i like the concept of them making all homemade ice cream, but I’ve had better from the grocery store. If your reading this please don’t go here.

I adore Delsa’s! They can handle the huge flow of Capital kids at lunch, and we always get our food on time. I usually don’t have a huge appetite, so the kids meal does me fine, and it’s like $ 4.79, a price comparable to any fast food place, with like 10x the quality. The chocolate shake is so yummy, and they have such good fries!

I am not coming back here. They have a terrible set up, where I have to relay all my requests for free samples from my kids through the cashier to the guy scooping ice cream, who is standing right in front of me. Why can’t I just ask him for a sample? Plus, the cashier lady was not friendly at all. And the ice cream is glowing neon, it’s all artificial colors and flavors. The vanilla was the only decent flavor anyway.

For those that commented on poor service, obviously have not visited when 10 Steven & his crew were working, because I found them very pleasant & personable. I had Bac Chz Burger w tots — delicious. Wife had finger steaks w onion rings — she liked them, I thought they were ok. I had a shake, wife had ice cream scoop. Both were awesome!

If it wasn’t because of the great shake I would have given this place 1 star. The young girl at the counter was not friendly at all. It looks like someone needs to do a better job at training their employees. Also, the kids in the kitchen didn’t look like they wash their hands after handling some of the front utensils. Great place but costumer service needs to be improved.

Great place for old fashioned ice cream. The first time I tried Delsa’s ice cream was at their trailer set up during the fair. I’ve visited here a few time since and have always enjoyed the strawberry shortcake special they have. The food is nothing amazing and I would also have to agree with a few other review post. The service is at best ok.

Rude servers, who clearly don’t want to be there, and haven’t been trained on any customer service. They won’t make shakes with hand dipped ice cream. «Cinnamon ice cream was tasteless.» As much as I wasn’t too like this little, independent place, there is just nothing to recommend it. I’ll try it in another 3 years, always hoping for change. Until then, it isn’t worth even free ice cream.

Did I miss something here? My kids would have me believe that this place was the shiznit. I found it average at best. The price was good. 3 large shakes, 2 Sundays, and 2 decent sized cones for 24 bucks. Will have to try the food at a future date.

I had driven by a number of times and had wanted to try it. I finally made it in to use a great Groupon that they had offered. It is a fun atmosphere that is a throwback to the old ice cream parlors. They have amazing shakes and great burgers. The value was great with the Groupon, but it still would have been excellent at regular price. The burger was juicy and tasty. I look forward to visiting here again.

I am happy that Delsa’s is in my neighborhood. The burgers are fresh, the fries crunchy, and the shakes creamy. The staff is friendly and overall it is less expensive then the heavily branded fast food joints in the area. I put their burgers on the level of your Five Guys-type chains for quality. Plus they have ice cream. =)

I really like Delsa’s a lot. Staff is friendly. Place is warm inside on a cold winter’s day. Ice cream is fantastic. Recommend vanilla in a waffle cone. Other reviews for this Delsa’s can be found at

We’ve been to this charming little locally owned ice cream shop several times since moving here, and I’ve always been pleased with the service whether it’s been a slow or a busy evening. Either we’ve been really lucky or others have caught them on an off night. Don’t come here expecting thirty one flavors, or you will be disappointed. If it’s unique homemade ice cream you want, you will be satisfied with the eight or so flavors you have to choose from. They also have soft serve with a variety of flavors you can have swirled in, as well as typical fast food fare like burgers and fries. The fast food is average(three stars), but the ice cream is fabulous and the servings are generous(five stars.) You can choose to sit in the small retro diner or outside in the covered patio. It can be a lot more hectic on weekends with noisy teenagers screaming at each other across the tiny tables. I don’t remember my classmates and I being that loud when we were let loose upon the world, but maybe I’m just getting old. Parking is also limited. Fortunately tonight we were among a small smattering of people who chose to brave the stormy weather to get their ice cream fix before the cold front passed through. I had a butterscotch shake that put similar offerings from chains to shame in terms of both quality and value.
