Still not a fan. Tried this place again to give it a fair shake and I was again disappointed by the service. There was a small pool event going on(two of the six tables being used) which was neat to watch but the server on duty was extremely overwhelmed and not handling it well. After taking our drink order she actually took the time to tell us that«they had told her there were only going to be 10 people for pool and she was just seriously overwhelmed and she doesn’t act all smiley and normal when she’s overwhelmed». I’ve waited tables and bar tended before so I can definitely understand that feeling but 1) You don’t deal with it by explaining that to customers, and 2) there couldn’t have been more than 16 – 20 people in the area she was working(the bartenders were helping the people on their side) and no one was upset, in a hurry, or even really needing much at all. Everyone was either playing pool or watching and not even paying attention to the waitress unless they ordered another round or some food. She asked the bartenders to help her, she was on the verge of tears, she made a comment about needing a dedicated server for the 12 people playing in the pool event, and I just simply don’t get it at all and neither did anyone else with me, several of whom are currently waiters at much busier establishments. Even her coworkers were acting like she was freaking out over nothing. Other than that I still think the food is edible but mediocre and over-priced, their pool tables seem small, and the blue of the felt is not good with the poor lighting. All in all, not the worst place in the world but the description of the two star rating is spot on, «Meh. I’ve experienced better».

I like The Crescent, but its not my favorinte place to go out. Drink prices are a bit steep. The staff has complained about their boss to me and my guest on more than one occasion. The food is great, happy hour is also a plus. It’s a huge bar so it’s great for big parties.

I haven’t been here for a couple of years and I have to say that the quality of servers went down quite a bit! We got here at 2:00 to watch football and none of the TVs were showing the games that were posted on the board. We sat for about ten minutes without anyone helping us and finally ended up having to move because the game we were wanting to watch wasn’t on the correct TV. We then waited 40 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and finally took our order. We ordered a cheeseburger with loaded tots and received a cheeseburger with overly seasoned fries. No tots. No loaded. That being said, the burger was great but I really wanted the loaded tots as I was talking about them before we even got there. So, I sit here, unsatisfied and dreaming about those loaded tots. The only reason that this place got two stars is because our server that we finally got did a pretty good job.

You can’t get Lawyer’s Fries in Ohio, where I’m from, as far as I know anyway. So since it seems that this is the ONLY place to get Rocky Mountain Oysters(bull testicles, what the fries are made from) in Idaho, except the annual Eagle Fire Department festival in July, I decided to give it a try even though the ratings here are not that great. Well, the ratings are valid. The place is a sports bar. Not good for someone like me who can barely tell the difference between football and soccer. I was unimpressed with the place. I ordered the Lawyer’s Fries and the Chicken Gizzards. The waiter immediately advised against the gizzards. We asked why and he said he doesn’t like them. I asked him what they were and he thought it was stomach and heart. Really, I suggested that’s what it was and he sort of agreed. When I told him I like both, he said then I would like it. So, we waited a reasonable time and our food arrived. The fries looked like pieces of batter fried zucchini. Only the look was the same. The batter was tasty but the actual«meat» inside was so thin, you could hardly taste it at all, overpowered by the batter. The gizzards were in the same batter but the meat inside them was so chewy as to be almost inedible. I did eat quite a few and found some, which I believe were only the hearts, were more tender but needed to be cooked longer to make them tender. I suggested to the waiter upon receiving the check that if the chef is open to suggestions, he/she should pressure cook the meat prior to frying to make them tender. Service was also just okay. The waiter was certainly friendly but not attentive. The place was just about empty and I was never offered a soft drink refill. Even if I’m back in the area, they won’t see me again. Sorry!

My daughter and I went to the Crescent today for burgers and the service was marginal and the burgers a bit over cooked.

I’ve only been there once… and to be honest, I wanted to like it. With the name, it’s clever and funny. Definitely a neighborhood dive bar. Huge dive bar and seemingly clean. I’m a fan a dive bars, and like the concept. But, the food was bland, and no drink menu.(I never trust a place that doesn’t have a beer menu for hard liquor due to inconsistencies) Reason for 3 stars: not a bad place… but a very average experience. I could have what I wanted at home with the plus side of being in my underwear.

It’s pretty obvious why this place has such mediocre reviews. The service is dissappointing. The tall, blond bartender with tattoos didn’t even attempt to hide the fact that he was drinking on shift, pretty tacky. Basically dive bar service in an upscale sports bar setting.

I’ve only been here for lunch! The service has always been pretty good and a good value if you get the lunch special — salad, ½ sandwich and fries for under $ 10. The capone, french dip and reuben have all been pretty good. Order off regular menu and you’ll be in the $ 15 – 20 range.

Here is a relatively concise review. Not my usual style, but my thoughts on the Crescent are specific and easily spelled out: No pints of beer. They’re either small, or huge, and they don’t sell pitchers. On one visit I asked for a small beer. They mistakenly poured me a large. Their solution was to pour out the large beer and re-pour a small. It hurts my heart to think of the waste. I ordered a hot dog on another occasion. It came out on a bun that looked like wrinkled newspaper, and the hot-dog itself appeared to have been freshly microwaved. It was complimented by about 10 french-fries. 10. Odd, poorly thought out beer system along with mediocre food. Lots of TV’s though!

This place is a mixed bag. I think I would recommend hitting it in the middle of the day. My wife and I have enjoyed the food, but have been there a bit earlier. Either around lunch, or early dinner time. The service has been good enough and the food good. This past weekend we went later. There were not a lot of people there. There was a table in front of us, and 2 bar tenders and 2 wait staff. We waited for over 20 minutes without anyone acknowledging we were there. No one came over to get our order. The one bar tender seemed to be flirting with the table in front of us, and ignoring us completely. A couple of the wait staff seemed very attentive to that table as well, all while ignoring us, 5 feet behind them. This was later at night. It was all in all very frustrating. As I said, good food, bad staff.

I am completely perplexed by the horrible reviews on this place. We went in Monday 2⁄16 and had a late lunch. Went with my BF mother and myself. We were in town visiting with her. We had experienced a lot of places in just that short time there but I have to say I was immediately impressed with the décor inside and the place is HUGE! So yea the wait staff was a little off that day, the one girl was training someone new and the accuracy for the order taking was a little hit and miss but not enough for me to give anything negative. I liked the food I only had the fries but they were good. BF had a the Big ASS tuna and mom had the Ruben sammy and was supposed to get soup but got a salad instead. We did tell the staff about that later but reassured them we didn’t need one to go or to make up for it as mom would not have eaten it. Overall good food and drinks, I would go back again. I tend to go and check places out despite reviews, since we all have an opinion on what happens on any given day. In conclusion a great experience and I would go back!

Worst BLT ever seen! Limp, uncooked bacon, dripping with fat onto my plate … almost hard to eat, let alone look at! The cook should know better … it was obvious he rushed to get it from the refrigerator to the table. Horrid. We will never go back. Rookie mistake. No One … and I mean no one would think this is acceptable!

Update: Stick with lunch foods. My boyfriend and I came for brunch, all excited. I got a cajun scrambler and he got a breakfast burrito. Both were highly disappointing. The scrambler was just egg with a huge layer of cheese, diced tomato, and I’m pretty sure the meat was spicy hot dog. The hashbrowns were mushy on the inside. The breakfast burrito was simply egg, cheese, diced tomato, and a tortilla wrap. Pretty gross, actually. The mimosas were good though.

It’s a sports bar. Plenty of beer, tv’s, men. Food is average. Often, too many flies outside. The Crescent is just a comfy place to go if you can’t think of anywhere else. Service inconsistent, never exemplary. Again, female servers don’t use their heads when serving females. We are not competition… treat us well you get a bigger tip. Ignore us and we ignore the tip space.

This is a sports bar plain and simple. I’ve been here a few time on the boys night out in the past and a few times for lunch. I stopped coming because the smoke was overwhelming. And I heard that has stopped. So today we stopped in again for lunch. I will sat the finger steaks are fresh not frozen. Best I’ve had in Boise by far! The service has always been pretty freindly. The food much better than the usual bar food and Can be a bit more expensive. But worth it. Bottom line great place to watch a game, play pool, outside horseshoes, and get some pretty good grub. :)

Bad service on multiple occasions, over-priced, and food is poor quality. Good for enjoying sports and average beer with friends, and very roomy. Many better sports bars in the area however.

Terrible bar. Downtown prices a crappy attitude. There are far better bars on the bench. The servers and bartenders do a good job. The problem is the pricing doesn’t match the experience. I don’t have a problem paying a premium for an amazing experience but this place is very a average at best. Plus inconsistent hours. There isn’t a guarantee that at midnight they will be open even though they advertise 2am.

Great place to watch a Boise State game, but seems to be a very average bar and grill. There are a number of TV’s inside, and usually they bring out the TV’s to their patio. so if there is a game on — this place seems like a good place to go! Plus there will usually be prize drawings, drink specials etc. the food however is very average. beer selection is not very good — and waitresses are nothing special. I hope next time in Boise, Boise State is playing at home so we dont have to come back here to watch the game!

I can say I’ve only been to the Crescent on Sunday mornings/afternoons to watch NFL games as they have the full package and you can watch any game that is on. At halftime they give out tickets and have a raffle where you can win shots, t-shirts and more. I went just two weeks ago for the first time in a long while and they have really fixed up the menu. It had always been very bar food oriented(and it still is to a degree) but they have definitely kicked into a new level. I don’t know when they did but I’m glad they did. I had Kobe beef prime rib with eggs, potatoes, grilled onions and sourdough toast. The meat is from the local Snake River Farms and was succulent, juicy and cooked perfectly. The onions grilled enough to make them just sweet enough to eat with the prime rib & eggs. It was the most expensive dish on the breakfast menu at $ 15. I complemented my meal with a couple of extra-spicy Bloody Mary’s for just $ 3 each. When I asked for extra veggies to be thrown in the pool there was no problem, no extra charge and the waitress remembered what I liked when I had the next round. When I went back the next weekend I tried The Hand Job for breakfast. A very excellent Louisiana hot link with scrambled eggs and pepper jack cheese on a toasty baguette for $ 8.50. Nice and spicy, it was a good kickoff to the day. More props to you if you can order a Hand Job from a waitress with a straight face, let alone one of the male bartenders if you’re sitting up there. They also have all of your basic breakfast meals but I always like trying something different so I can’t say whether they’re boring or not. At the least I’m sure they’re plenty good on the taste buds. When it comes to the rest of the menu I’ve never tried the burgers, etc.(the entrée menu lists fresh clams, grilled salmon, shrimp scampi and grilled ahi fish tacos to show how much the grub options have expanded) but the appetizers are great. If you want to try some Rocky Mountain Oysters or Chicken Gizzards they have them both. They also have an Idaho original: Finger Steaks. Nicely cubed steak, battered in a spicy mix then deep fried. My mouth waters when I think of dipping them in fry sauce or cocktail sauce. * My only complaint about The Crescent is the smoking. Smoking has not been barred in all bars in Idaho yet, so wear some really casual clothes or be prepared to take them to a dry cleaner when you leave as pretty much everyone in the joint was smoking except our table.
