We found our new favorite sushi place! Super fresh, not expensive. Nice atmosphere. Our two year old(who accompanied us), was super bad… so apologies to the staff.

The sushi was absolutely amazing! No matter the roll it tasted super fresh and I could have probably eaten every single roll if my stomach decided to not get full. The only reason that I am not giving it 5 stars is the fact that the server was not the best we had to ask her a couple times for things and when we needed her she was no where to be seen. The saki was awesome but she didn’t bring anything to hold the container since we ordered hot saki.

Food is exceptionally good! I ordered a miso soup and the sushi appetizer. Was plenty! I had a piece of the Black Dragon roll that my daughter ordered. Wow! Delicious! Service was quick and pleasant. The place is a little noisy on a Saturday night so if you’re looking for a quiet and intimate dinner, you should reserve one of their private tatami rooms. Can be romantic too. Have fun!

Excellent fresh sushi and sashimi. Friendly and attentive staff. This is still my absolute favorite sushi restaurant around south Florida. These are my favs: grilled squid(whole squid, grilled to perfection), hamachi kama(grilled or fried yellow tail jaw), vocanno roll(this is tricky, the topping has to be warm enough but not overcooked to the point it’s oily– they perfected it here), salmon skin handroll extra crispy, salmon tempura roll(no rice, all goodness). My family loves all sashimi, chirashi, and isuzukuri. The kids LOVE their kids menu. Oh, oh, oh, their lunch bento boxes are awesome!!!

Great choice in Boca! This is my second visit to Sushi Yama when we are in town and our meal was superb! Arrived on a Saturday evening and promptly seated. My husband ordered the house hot saki and I ordered a pot of green tea which was perfectly brewed. We started with miso soup. Simple and delicious. Next up was the tuna tataki appetizer which I have to try at every sushi restaurant … It was beautifully displayed and yummy. Next we ordered 3 rolls: Spicy tuna, Rainbow roll and Florida roll. all perfect! Oh and I forgot to mention the nice little cup of pickled veggies served with your drinks. I would highly recommend to locals and visitors.

Called ahead and ordered papaya salad and Pad Thai noodles. Went to collect, the hostess told me it wasn’t ready, they were waiting on the Pad Thai. When I got back to my office, I discovered a soup and dried noodles, not pad Thai. I called and let them know of the mistake and immediately it was turned around to me. I should have listened better when the confirmed. They confirmed Pad Thai what else was I supposed to hear? I was told if I wanted to drive back today, they would change it. I informed them I could not do it today. I was basically told that was my bad luck. No offer to let me come back tomorrow for it. Or another day. I have been to the one in Palm Beach Gardens and never had a problem. Staff always friendly and helpful. Not the case at this location. I will not return here.

I’m not a local, my wife and I found this great Sushi restaurant tonight from Unilocal search. The sushi rolls were made to perfection, the Kani Salad was so so delicious and fresh as well as the other selections. The service was a little slow but not terrible for a busy Friday night . We will definitely repeat !

The food was decent, but what really turned us off was the bad service here. As we waited for our table we could hear the 2 young hostesses in a foreign language and giving nasty faces to patron after the passed by, but it didn’t end there… Once we sat down we ordered and the waitress was not much friendlier than the hostess. She got my order wrong(I ordered steak, she brought chicken) and then argued with me about it. Her argument for me not ordering steak was the«she would’ve asked me how I want it cooked», she then exchanged the chicken for steak, she never asked how I wanted it cooked… :\ The food was pricey given what you get, but the service just left a bitter taste in our mouths. I would suggest going to one of the many other Asian restaurants around Boca, at least you wont be mistreated.

A friend and fellow Unilocaler asked us to go out for a late bite. She suggested going to Sushi Yama. We had never been there before. Clyde and I went with her, and I’m glad we did. Even though it was nearly 10 pm the restaurant was almost full. The layout was interesting with booths, tables, and private alcoves that they call tatami rooms. We got a booth. We ordered a few rolls to share including a green dragon roll and my favorite, a volcano roll. I didn’t think my volcano roll was that good. It came to the table shaped like a teepee instead of flat. The sushi was dry and fell apart when I tried to eat it. The seafood on top didn’t help. It wasn’t bad enough to send back, but I wouldn’t order it there again. In addition to the sushi we ordered Thai food which came with a salad or miso soup. We got the soup which was delicious. I ordered stir fried chicken with basil and Clyde ordered chicken Panang curry. Both dishes came with rice. The Thai food was delicious and the serving sizes were generous. For drinks we went through several carafes of warm sake. The sake was delicious. The service was excellent. They’re open seven days a week and until 2 am Wednesday through Saturday. They have late night drink specials.

Manager is extremely rude and will yell at you for her mistakes. Refused to refund my food when it wasn’t real and more than half was brought back to her. Hong Kong palace across the street would be a better recommendation than sushi yama. My beef was nor even cooked

Came here for my birthday dinner. I loved the atmosphere and everyone was friendly. The sushi was incredible! Waiter was quiet and checked on us. Good came out at a good time. I would come back here for the rest of my birthdays!

After a very poor experience at a similar restaurant this evening which we had to walk out of, me and my wife chose to come here for her birthday dinner. The reviews are spot on, we really had a wonderful time. Drinks were well made, sushi rolls were amazing, we ordered so much that we not only walked out stuffed but had enough for 2 more meals the following day, and for a birthday dinner the pricing was not bad at all! Service was great, dining room was busy but noise wasn’t an issue. This is definitely our go to sushi spot now.

Wonderful service! Server was a real delight. The menu is SUPER wordy and our table literally had to take some quiet time to read everything. I love the options but I felt like I was reading a novel. Sake was great and even better priced. The rolls are a little pricey, but after they came out I realized they were actually quite large. I ordered two hand rolls which were so delicious and filled with fish, and a few a la carte items. So delicious and fresh, I really enjoyed it and will be back again. *Sidenote: it was absolutely freezing in this place. bring your lady a sweater! ;)

I’m frankly frustrated at the quality of Asian food in this area. I live a few blocks away from Sushi Yama Asian Bistro but have never tried it. A friend of ours suggested that we go there for dinner. I was somewhat dubious but I’m willing to try most things once. I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of Sushi Yama. The food was very good, the restaurant was decorated very attractively and the staff was competent and friendly. I love Thai food and am used to wonderful Thai food back in Maryland. I can’t say that Sushi Yama is in the class of Ruan Thai, my favorite Thai restaurant in the world located in Wheaton, Maryland. But Sushi Yama is quite good. In fact it is better than any Asian food I’ve tried in this area. Asian restaurants around here have the bizarre habit of almost always fusing together cuisines mostly with Sushi. It’s all right to do that, it just is kind of weird. Anyway, I ordered the Chicken Panang, a popular Thai Curry. Sushi Yama’s version was really good. Not burn your face off hot, but nicely spicy. I shared some Sushi with Diane that was very good. I’m not a huge fan of Sushi but this was very tasty although it was falling apart. In addition, Diane had the Chicken with Basil. I tasted it and it was very flavorful. It was my birthday and the restaurant very kindly gave me Green Tea Ice Cream for dessert. I have discovered a new place to go for a nice meal. The great thing is Sushi Yama is open really late and are close enough to visit at midnight or later when I get a craving for Asian food which happens frequently.

This was my first time trying this place. Recently moved around this area and had to find a new sushi spot to eat at. They have a lot of options in their menu. Not only do they have sushi, they have Japanese and Thai as well. Everything looked delicious. I ordered the beef noodle soup(I’m Vietnamese and was craving some kind of soup). Although it was exactly close to phở(which I didn’t expect it to) it was pretty tasty. My friend and dancing eel roll and she absolutely loved it. My husband had a chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura combo and he liked it as well. Definitely a place to come back to regularly. They have a full bar as well and that’s always a great pair to any meal for me.

A little difficult to find in a strip plaza on the corner of Palmetto Park Road and Powerline Road, but worth the search. I paid $ 12.50 for a $ 25 certificate through I was solo and went there for lunch. I ordered the fried suimai(pork dumplings), the Vietnamese pancake appetizer, and red Thai curry lunch special. The dumplings were deep fried which was a surprise, but who doesn’t like something deep fried? There were five to a serving, and they were delicious. When you hear the word pancake, invariably you think about an American pancake. The Vietnamese pancake appetizer has nothing to do with that. It’s hard to describe but it is mouthful after mouthful of deliciousness, and comes with a sweet sauce on the side. This is something I will definitely order on my next visit. Now I know, you’re going to say that you shouldn’t order Thai in a Japanese restaurant, but I was in the mood for red Thai curry and it was on the lunch specials. The sticky rice was delicious, but I found the Thai curry lacking sufficient chicken, the vegetables were undercooked and hard, and the sauce was too thin. I had to wait for the waiter to return. I believe that he thought because he delivered the food, he did not have to come back. When he did, I told him that I did not care for the curry and told him why. I asked him for the menu so I could order something else. This is where I am deducting a star. What he said was inappropriate. He told me that the owner doesn’t like when a customer sends something back, and he charges the servers for the item. I don’t know if he was full of crap or not, but either way as a customer, I don’t want to hear it. Then when I gave him my reorder, for a bento box lunch special, he did warn me that I better like it. It wasn’t clear what he would do if I didn’t. The bento box was delicious and the chicken teriyaki and spicy beef were delicious although the teriyaki sauce too plentiful and too sweet. Soda is by the can so if you like refills, it will cost you $ 2.50 each time. I chose to eat outside at a high top, but the chairs were a little tight and confining. I did go into the restaurant to use the restroom which needed tidying. The interior of the restaurant is quite large and deceiving based upon the store frontage. It was a little dark on the inside, but I don’t know if it’s just because my eyes were adjusted to the outside. Would I go back again? Absolutely when I’m down in that area.

This Strip-Mall Sushi restaurant certainly doesn’t serve Strip-Mall Quality Sushi! It’s really good! The inside looks kind of like a 1990s SoBe night club: Dark and Neon and Wood and Dark… and Dark. I liked it, but it wasn’t great for my Foodtography! Haha. I got the Chirashi, which was very fresh assortment of sashimi served on a plate over a circle-mold of rice. It was certainly filling and very good. I would like it if they added a little of the«Umami-bits» that I’m used to in my Chirashi: Some Salmon Roe, maybe some pickled veggies, mushrooms, Tamago… Something for that little extra Oomph. But that’s a personal preference, and I certainly can’t complain. We sampled their Seaweed Salad, a basic sushi roll, house salad(their Miso-Honey dressing was fabulous, and the ingredients in the salad were fresh and crisp!)… Everything was good and priced well. What bumps Sushi Yama up for me is the service. One waitress remembers my mom by name every time and is so super friendly! The other servers are attentive, happy, and very friendly. I was impressed. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area and craving some Sushi love!

I so wanted to love this place, but I can’t give it more than 3 stars — mostly because of the sushi itself. Upon walking in, you’ll notice the décor is sexy and modern. I sat at the bar and it was great to see the sushi made in front of you and made so beautifully! They sure know how to setup a plate. Pros: The waitress was extremely attentive and service was very fast. Again, the décor is very nice and the guys making the sushi were very friendly and polite. Cons: The sushi. That’s what this place is all about right? The rice is so soft — somewhat mushy. I ordered the spicy salmon roll which was surprisingly much bigger than I had thought. I counted 11 pieces — wow! After the 4th piece of this roll, it started to have a weird taste to it. It was pretty gross. I decided to stop eating — mostly because i was admittedly full but also because it truly did not taste good. I also got the spicy tuna roll. It was better than the last roll but still. Meh. All in all, I’m not sure I could like any of the rolls here fully due to the overly soft mushy rice. Just doesn’t cut it for me. Perhaps other dishes are good? If so, it’ll be worth going to because service was indeed superb!
