A To Z Comics

great store. i get my comics there regularly since i moved here. the woman that works there REALLY knows comics and is very nice and they have some cool stuff.

I’ve been going to A To Z Comics for almost 20 years now. This is also the only place that I go to for anything comic related. I only get a couple comics a month, much smaller than even the average comic book reader. I come in maybe once a month to pick up whatever I have waiting for me and that’s it. At least, that’s how it is today.
Years ago, A To Z Comics was much busier due to the collectible card game market. They had many tournaments on the weekend and the place could get packed. Nowadays there are fewer tournaments and fewer customers in that department. The market just isn’t there today as it was several years ago. The shop no longer stays up until midnight on the weekends, which I think is blessing for the owners, as A to Z Comics has always been a comic book shop first and foremost, not a gaming store.
There are nicer comic book stores in the Kansas City area, but to me, I can describe A To Z Comics in one word: family. I’m more than a customer. The owner has gotten to know me by name and knows what’s going on in my life. If I’m going to frequent a place often enough over the years, being treated like «family» rather than a «customer» is something that will make me, and many others, a loyal patron for years to come.
