Beautiful scenery spoiled by tourist’s graffiti. If you miss the turn off or it is full of cars there is the park immedately to your right. Go park and walk down to the wall. I wished they would remove all parking there completely and make everyone drive up and park in the parking spaces to the right and very nice picnic grounds there too. The problem is everyone wants to park at the wall(too lazy to walk?) causing driving problems and viewing problems and so Many are just too lazy or the signs are blocked to the picnic grounds up to their right over looking the valley and point, Lovers Leap. Too bad. Just read people. There are signs directing to the right a picnic grounds and parking but as usual people want it right where they want it and not where it is the safest. So please tourist, drive up and park on the side of the view and walk down! Please dont park along the wall. Saw idiot walking on wall showing off, isn’t that how that kid fell to her death in Colorado resently? They park so to block anyones view of their mess and painting on rocks and wall. Hidden cameras to get their license plates would be handy. Then each can get billed and taken to court for theft(taking aaway from others view and the cost to repair) and destruction of Federal and State property. Maybe then the tourist will behave and show some respect to locals, state and Federal property. We clean up your messes. How would you like it if we went to your back yard and passed on your wall and wrote graffit on your property as we dump our trash from our cars and vans? Not so funny now is it and by the way, sport, while you take that leak If I see you I will report you for exposing yourself in public! So, please come but please be respectful. Ya’ll come back now ya hear?

There are plenty of places named Lover’s Leap out there. In fact, Blowing Rock, NC is one — the primary difference being that instead of plunging to certain death, the lover was buffeted back to the top of the mountain by strong winds(hence the name). But generally, the fateful leap is so named because of strong emotions, generally frustrated by equally strong forces that keep them apart — often called parents — and one or both of said lovers decide to take the plugin off the side of a cliff of some sort rather than live life alone. Not quite a theory I understand, but we generally do find some spectacular views, and for that I am thankful. In this case, the view is indeed awesome. We were there when the weather gets about as nasty as it can and it was still a sight to behold. I can only imagine(queue Mercy Me if that is your thing) that it would be even more amazing during the spring bloom or fall color change. The only unfortunate aspect of this particular leap — other than the leap itself, of course, which you do not have to partake in to witness the view — is that the viewpoint is right on the side of a mountainous road and is barely a turnout. There is room for perhaps two or three cars to comfortably stop, and if you miss it, there is no simple way to turn around and go back again for quite some time. I have no idea how they could add more, and doing so may spoil the spot — but it does make it challenging to see.
