What a cool place! We visited while in Blue Ridge for Valentines Day and really enjoyed the beer. I love the concept of buying the glass and then tasting all the beer you want. Wish we had a laidback place like this in our town. Well worth the visit!

This place is a true gem tucked away in Blue Ridge. Have been wanting to try this place for a couple of months now and finally made it up to Blue Ridge to try it. «Grass Hopper», whom I assume is the brewmaster took care of us once we got there and was very helpful of knowledgeable about the beers and what would be good based on preference. I love IPAs and they had 4 on draft while we were there including a special brew he created for his own wedding. The Aska Pale Ale is also another smooth and easy drinking option they have on draft and was good enough for us to get a 6 pack to bring home with us. Plenty of swag to be bought with their awesome logo on it. Grass hopper along with the owners on hand were very hospitable. There is plenty of seating inside and out with but board games/cards if you’re inside and corn hole for outside. We will be back as soon as we make a return trip and will stay much longer our second visit.

I was very impressed with the sauce this place was slinging! The fact they have here go to beer canned to take on the river also deserves kudos. The location is great and a little ways away from the tourist! Super nice staff that was very interactive with all of the patrons not just the regulars. If this was in my hometown it would be my go to spot!

We had an amazing time here. We were in town visiting and someone told us about this place so we decided to check it out. The beer was very good and the atmosphere was perfect. We felt right at home and we were even given a tour. Everyone here was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We will definitely come back and buy their beer. We wish them the best with everything!

Great beer but even better people. Stopped in to Grumpy Old Men with a buddy of mine last Friday. We split from a larger group to check out the local breweries, expecting to only be gone a couple hours, we ended up being out for more than 6 hours. A big part of that was the amazing time we had a Grumpy Old Men. Not only was their beer great(especially the Black IPA and cold brew coffee IPA) but they were great people. As soon as we had a beer they told us to pull up a couple of chairs and we proceeded to spend a few hours getting to know them and their brewery story and telling them about ourselves and our trip we were on with our friends. I couldn’t recommend this place any more. I hope to make it back up there from Miami some day.

What a great little find! The sweetie and I wanted to stop by here last year when we were in town but at the time, they were only open on certain days for special tasting events. They’ve since changed their hours and are now open a few days a week in the afternoon for drop-in tasting/tours. This meant that we(along with a group of friends this time) finally got to try their brews– yay! After purchasing a glass, they offer you tastes of any of their many beers… and they weren’t stingy with the samples ;-) The good folks working there are happy to tell you all about their libations, as well as walk you through their brewery with an in-depth or basic tour(whatever you have time or interest in.) I was especially excited to get one of my friends to branch out from her usual light beer and even past a hefeweizen… I mean, she was raving about their IPA even days later! again– YAY! The interior/décor is not much to write home about, but the hospitality and good company more than made up for it. One of the owners chatted with us throughout our time here, even refilling our glasses many times, and made the whole visit even more pleasant and fun. I can safely say the sweetie and I, as well as our group of friends, look forward to making a stop at Grumpy Old Men a ritual on our yearly Blur Ridge trip.

If you like beer, and want a great range of types, you have to stop by this brewery and visit! Currently, they offer brewery tours with samples and a real, detailed tour. Not one of those PR tours, but a tour with the actual mad scientist! Tours are offered Thur-Sat from 2−6pm. Grab a souvenir shirt, hat, glass or koozie, sample some great beer, and talk to the brewers! Don’t miss this brewery, and don’t miss this brand!

Only open for monthly tastings so check the website prior to making a long trip but, well worth the trip! Great craft beer and super friendly staff/brewers. Definitely a must for craft beer drinkers.

My husband brews beer for a living so whenever we go someplace new, we always look to see if there are any breweries worth checking out. That being said, we had absolutely no idea this brewery existed(I just set up the business on Unilocal because I think people should know about it!). The only reason we found out about it was because a sales girl from Out of the Blue(also on Main St.) told us about a tasting event going on the day we were in town. We walked over(about ¾ of a mile from the shops on Main St.) and the place was packed! They had cornhole set up and lots of dogs were there. Everyone was enjoying the nice weather and good beer! We paid $ 10 each, for a glass and 6 tasting tickets. Unfortunately we were a little late to the party so they 86ed a couple of the beers before we were able to try them. We were able to try the porter, the pale ale and the IPA. All were tasty! Another company(Anchor Brokerage) was there with a nice snack table set up — cheeses, crackers, pretzels, trail mix, etc. It was a nice touch and much appreciated! The brewers/owners were there serving the beer and I think their wives were also serving. Everyone was super friendly and excited to be there. One of the owners plays bagpipes and he did some live music, which was really fun! After reading their Facebook page, I think they do these tasting events every couple of months. They aren’t allowed to sell their beer at the brewery so this is the way they get around that. From what I’ve read, a lot of the local restaurants have their beer on tap as well. Overall, we had a fantastic time and are so glad someone told us about this brewery! I really don’t know if they are open on a regular basis or if they are only open to the public during tasting events. Either way, if you are in Blue Ridge, ask about any events they may be having or give their beer a try at a local restaurant! #drinklocal #supportcraftbeer
