This place is no longer in business and I have yet to find out why… if anyone has information on what happened to Durangos can you please update us. If they have moved I would love to know the new location or if public health shut them down then I need to be trying to get a colonic because I ate there quite often :-)

Consistently great tacos and burritos. The steak is tops, pastor above average, but they have the best tripe I’ve found. Delicious carnitas on weekends. Affordable never had a bad round in years

Food is ok. Service is terrible, and I am a very patient person. The quality of food is very good, but their customer service needs to improve. Other than that, it’s fair.

It’s ok! I’ve definitely had better. The flautas were AWFUL though!!! They were old and the chicken was dried up and you could honestly choke on it!!! Im not really sure that I would return.

Has to be the worst Mexican food I have ever had. Not in the least bit authentic. Their tostada shells are store bought and chewy. Their steak is dry and tough. And finally DONOTGETTHENACHOS!!! I ordered nachos today, and when I got home I saw they were just tortilla chips covered in that nasty yellow nacho cheese goo and loaded with jalapeños. That was it. Fake cheese and jalapeños. Absolutely disgusting!

I want to see an elotes cart in Beverly… CRICKETS… It’s summertime, and it’s one of my faves. Unilocal search yielded this place. I’m vegetarian, so I ordered the special, which was a chile relleno gordita. It was like a mexican stuffed pancake on cheese/pepper steroids. Very delicious. The elotes was delish(with less mayo) also when I added some red pepper flakes. I was surprised that it came in a cup instead of like an elotes cart, but I won’t place blame for my lack of Mexican food knowledge. It served its purpose for lunch. They seem to be a popular spot. Tip: They do not sell any fish menu items.

Great for authentic Mexican tacos, burritos and tortas. Inexpensive. Cooked as you order, so you will need to wait but it is worth it. Agree with bare bones environment. Love the hot sauce. I prefer the Barbacoa and the carne Asada.

Grabbed a veggie burrito the other day. Not the biggest burrito I’ve ever had, and not the cheapest either, but by far one of the tastiest and well put together burritos I’ve tried in a while. The rice and beans had were fantastic, and the accompanying ingredients were perfectly constructed to make one hell of a burrito. Not a big fan of their salsas. Seemed to missing something. Rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, and guacamole… one of the better veggie burritos around.

I ordered a pretty good steak burrito from this taqueria, and I must say it was stuffed with meat and fixin’s and was way more than I could finish. It was a little too salty for my taste, which was pronounced on the ends of the burrito, but the middle section was so full of other ingredients the salt was not overwhelming. The night I stopped in, the horchata machine was down, and that would’ve made my meal perfect. Oh well. the prices are very reasonalbe and the food was ready in no time. As for ambience, nada. This is a bare-bones place geared toward the take-out crowd. There are booths, but nothing really invites you to eat in. There’s also a partially-dismantled counter area, which makes it look like a construction site. There’s also a lot of scorpion décor. And I do mean a LOT. Once you start noticing the motif, they’re EVERYWHERE. Even the clock has scorpions instead of numbers. Scorpions don’t bother me, but if you have arachnophobia, send someone else on a taco run to this place.

I decided to deviate from my favorite Mexican place because of all the great reviews this place received. I have to admit I was quite disappointed. I ordered the pastor tostada dinner and when I opened the box right out of the gate I was surprised. Most places I have been to give you 3 tostada when you order the dinner but her I only got 2. I thought that the pastor itself was good, not to greasy with a nice combination of flavor and spice. The rest of it was the problem. Bland rice and beans as well as it was just thrown together and looked like a mess. The one good part about my dinner here was ordering the guacamole and chips. The chips were fresh and the guac was one of the most flavorful I have ever had. Unless I start going though Alzheimer’s I won’t be back here again.

Can’t be the first person to NOT give this place 5 stars, right? I went with 2 steak tacos, 2 chicken tacos, chips & guac and a birria burrito. The burrito was a bit of an accident, I asked for a taco but he misheard me and by the time I could figure out why the bill was a few dollars more than I was expecting I realize he wrote down burrito. But no worry. The chips were decent. Warmed, which is good. I think they might have just stuck them in the microwave but I guess that doesn’t matter. They were functional, not great. The guacamole was very solid too and quite chunky. When I make it at home I tend to make it a bit on the chunky side too so I approved but that’s just a personal preference. It was fresh and had good flavor The steak tacos were my favorite. The meat had great flavor, was obviously grilled on a *real* grill and was not fatty at all. And a VERY reasonable 1.65. I’ve had lesser steak tacos go for well over 2 $ that can’t hold a candle to these. It was a fair amount of meat too, far from skimpy. The chicken tacos were mildly disappointing. Same as above, flavor and meat was good but based on the other reviews I thought it would be chunks of grilled chicken or something along those lines but it appeared to me to be the standard shredded chicken most places have. But a minor beef, like I said flavor was there. All in all I’m very glad I found this place as it’s 5 – 10 minutes from my work. This was the first time I went to I wanted to try at least a few things and the 10 $ minimum credit card charge encouraged me to do that since I didn’t have any cash. But I will definitely be back.

Taqueria Durango huh? For those unaware, Mexicans from Durango have a very strong presence here in Chicago. You’ve probably seen their trademark scorpion logos with«Durango» plastered on the back window of their SUV’s in old english lettering, blasting loud Duranguense music with booming subwoofers. I’m stereotyping just a little. Sue me. I don’t quite remember how I came across finding this place. But after reading others reviews, «cheap» and«tacos» definitely sold me on the idea of coming here. We ordered 3 barbacoa tacos, 3 chorizo tacos, 2 steak tacos, 2 sides of rice and 2 cokes for slightly under $ 20. Not bad. Especially since the food is damn good. The barbacoa was rich with flavor, and the steak was nicely cooked. The chorizo was not over-flowing with grease like you get at some places. And I’m pretty much in love with the salsa in the yellow mustard bottle. Not for the weak. That stuff was HOT. Definitely looking forward to coming here again when I’m down south and craving Mexican food. Extra props for accepting credit, even with a $ 10 limit.

Eight tacos, two horchatas for under $ 13. Ate tacos that gave me mouth a pleasure party. A food fiesta. At different times, Taqueria Durango is crowded, loud and full of wonderful aromas. At other instances, the Western Ave. taqueria is pretty empty. The chicken & carnitas are especially tasty. They got a great jukebox and TV setup. Nice.
