The women who work here are friendly, I came in for lunch and was promptly served a carafe of hot tea. I ordered the spicy seafood tofu soup which has squid, clams and an egg in it. It came with a bowl of rice and several side dishes. The food was OK, my soup was bland and not up to par with the nearby Korean restaurants. I’m not sure if I would come back, but I suppose if you’re desperate for some Korean food, this place works.

I’ve been here once before and the first go around things were fine, however this time it wasn’t so great. My girlfriend and I walked in and waited for a while and nobody helped us to a table. When we started walking towards a table ourselves a waitress finally came and seated us. We had to wait about 15 – 20 minutes to order while other patrons who came after us were seated and helped without issue. Also, the front door to the restaurant was wide open and the cold air from outside was directly hitting our table. In addition to that we had bugs flying around our table once we did finally get our food. The only reason I’m giving this 3 stars is because the food was good. Overall not a good experience the second time around. Might consider going back since the first time was pretty good.

Super authentic korean restaurant hidden away in a strip mall. Limited english, so hopefully you don’t have any questions when you go there. I ordered the stone pot bibimbap and it came out quick enough, but the service is a bit slow around 1 if a good amount of korean’s show up. There isn’t much staff, so after you get your banchan and food, you hopefully don’t need anything else.

Found this place on Unilocal. Not far from our hotel near the Mall. Typical Korean restaurant, got all the necessary dishes. Place is packed on a Sat night with only two waitress serving about 35 ppl. I ordered the shrimp fried rice which was good. My friend ordered the dol sot bimbimbap: hot stone pot with rice and spicy squid, tastes a-ok, didn’t put enough salt and it was not really spicy. We also ordered the cha jap: fried rice noodle as a appetizer, tastes just like any other Korean restaurants. Service is good, although they were extremly busy but both of the waitresses made sure we have enough tea and water.

Tiny place but is very authentic. It certainly delivers very solid Korean food. I’ve driven by numerous times, finally saw the Unilocal stars, and visited for lunch. As other reviews have said it is bare bones but that adds to its charm. The lunch specials, at $ 8.99, are a bargain. I will go every time when I have a Korean hankering.

After reading reviews, I thought I should try this place out. Just visited yesterday. I love Korean food and was in the mood for Kimchi Jigae(spicy tofu soup with pork, and of course kimchi). Although my go to place for this dish is Jong Ka Jib, it is much closer. I felt it was good although different… i think it has to do with their kimchi… this one had more of a sour flavor, like their kimchi was more«pickled». They were also very generous with the meat. My boyfriend and I also ordered the seafood and scallion pancake which I was thoroughly enjoying. He ordered the bibimbop(not the dol sot) and was not impressed… not much meat. Overall, I would come back to try something else and also hit up the asian grocery store next door.

Good food. They don’t really speak much English, so make sure you know what you want or can speak Korean. My wife wanted something without fish/seafood, and the soup she ordered had squid. They offered to make it again, but it would have taken a while, so she just picked the pieces out. The bonus was that I got to eat them then :-0

I was disappointed at how salty everything was. I know that Korean food can be a bit salty, but this was even salty for Korean. We ordered a kalbi, dol sot bimbimbap, spicy pork with kimchi and soon do boo. The kalbi was a bit fatty and the soon do boo was very fishy tasting. The dol sot bimbimbap was good and the pork with kimchi was okay. After reading the reviews, I thought I would check out this place. I’m not sure why this place was getting such high reviews. Maybe it was an off day? I’m not sure, but I doubt I will come back.

Great Korean food. Being from the Northern California Bay Area which has a huge Korean population I am used to eating great Korean food. To Dam Gol did not disappoint and frankly, the food was as good, if not better, than most of the places I have eaten back in California. I went with my family, which included my mom who we were visiting in Philadelphia, and other than my wife, who is Korean, we were the ONLY non-Koreans in the restaurant, which for me has always been a good indicator the food is authenticate and good. When I go back to the Philadelphia area again I plan to eat at To Dam Gol!

This is a bare bones Korean restaurant but I come here at least once when I’m at home, and their food is SO good. I got their jja-jja-myung which is standare fare but they use good noodles. Their oo-jeeng-uh dolsot bibimbap is SO good though(spicy octopus mixed rice in a hot stone pot). The pot is really hot so the rice comes out sizzling and gets crunchy sitting in the bowl, and it’s a perfect blend of octopus and veggies on top of rice. It is SOOOGOOD! I LOVEDIT! I want to go back just to eat this.

Everything tasted homemade, and the restaurant definitely has a «homey» feel to it. Panchan was great, including a parsley panchan I’ve never had before. Kimchi Paejon(pancakes) and Daegu Tang(spicy fish soup) — loved both. The food got a «it’s okay» from my Mother-in-law, which means really good. Will be back. Prices very reasonable for the quality of the food.

It’s definitely a small, rather inconspicuous restaurant in the same shopping center(if you can call it that) as the neighborhood oriental supermarket, but the dishes are great. The seafood pajeon was served hot and filled with plenty of veggies and seafood, and the soondoobu chigae was flavorful and very spicy. The banchan dishes were pretty good(although they didn’t have the marinated shredded dried squid that I loved so much when I was in DC!) and I really liked the braised lotus root and white daikon kimchi. The place itself is kinda small but the service is very friendly and prices are fair. I haven’t tried the barbeque here but I would venture that their specialties are actual dishes and not cook-your-own meats.

Good, authentic Korean food and a friendly staff(despite lack of English). This is not really the place for Korean BBQ, but rather for other, traditional korean dishes. Good and interesting selection. I suggest people try it out.

Formerly Manna House, they’ve rechristened themselves Korean Restaurant[1], and they’re not kidding: they serve Korean food, have Korean staff, and you can watch Korean TV while you eat. This modest-sized BYOB fits about 60 diners. The tables appear to be laminated, and there are flowers and bamboo stalks painted on the walls. We were greeted, seated, brought a pitcher of warm barley tea, then menus. Their menu sports appetizers, a few BBQ meat and seafood options, and a ton of hot soups. Took us some time to deliberate, then we settled on a few choices. Two of us shared an appetizer and two entrees: a plate of kimchi gochoo pajeon(tasty, and surprisingly had huge peppers in the pancake; $ 12.95), a plate of galbi(delightfully marinated prime ribs; $ 16.95), and the dependable kimchi jaeyuk bokum(~$ 14.95). The accompanying banchan plates were good: kimchi, little fish, bean sprouts, thin strips and large chunks of seaweed, and a ginger salad. When we requested more kimchi(free), we also got a plate of kaktugi(radish kimchi, my favorite!). Coupled with miso soup and white rice, the entire meal was more than filling; I’m eating leftovers this week… Pricing is typical for a Korean restaurant, and credit cards are welcome. [1] The Korean characters on their awning is probably their«real» name — unfortunately, transliterating Korean isn’t my strong suit. For those not near Blue Bell, there’s another Korean Restaurant in Upper Darby, near 69th street.
