This is a pretty decent place to grab lunch in downtown Blowing Rock. I’ll start by saying we eat out A LOT so probably hold restaurants to a higher standard than most. We ordered the banger as an appetizer and it was really good although a little hard to eat as an app. My girlfriend had the turkey club as an entrée which wasn’t bad but could use a little flair and was served with regular potato chips. My entrée was the chicken salad sandwich on white, the chicken portion was almost perfect, but it had large chunks of celery which over powered the flavor, my bread should have probably been lightly toasted because my 2nd half crumbled to pieces, I ordered it with the pub chips which it turned out were more like fries and too thick for my liking. The cost was a little much for the quality of the meal at $ 50 for the 2 of us.

I really liked the ambiance of this pub. It is very authentic and they serve very good food. It was very nice on a fall day to come in and warm up with a pint of beer.

This was our second trip to this great pub! My wife and I love Irish/English Pubs and the atmosphere. First off please know going in that it is a tourist spot. The décor is wonderful and sets the mood for a wonderful dining experience. My wife and I started off with drinks she had a whiskey and sour and I had a bourbon Smash. The waitress came back and asked if it was ok without mint and I said that would be fine. The drinks came out perfect however my smash was $ 16!!! Like I said expect to pay tourist prices. We ordered the Mac and cheese bites that came out perfect. For our meals my wife went with the Fish and chips and I had the bangers and mash. The spicy mustard was perfect and the bangers were delicious. For dessert she had the adult hot chocolate and I had the Irish coffee which were both perfect. All in all a great place pricey but the food is worth it.

The service is fantastic and the atmosphere is welcoming. We all passed around the bangers, Guinness brisket, Shepard’s pie, and Guinness beef and it was all wonderful! This will be on the must come back list for sure.

Five stars easy. If you’re looking for an authentic pub with some of the best food you ever ate, stop by here! I had the fish and chips and they were fantastic! Fresh fish and for a smaill you get two large pieces. Fiancé had the pot roast and a bowl of the chicken wing soup and it was amazing! Prices are worth the food and great ambience and service. Can’t wait to go back, highly recommend!

I loved this place for two reasons: good beer and great atmosphere. We ended up spending six hours in this place just hanging out and talking to our wonderful bartender. The food was great – try the gouda burger and the shepards pie. We will definately be back.

They are the epitome of awful service. We waited an hour for a table and showed up early for the estimated time to find that they had given away our table. After they split up our party to sit us, we had to wait another 45 minutes to get our food which came at all separate times. When the food finally arrived half of it was incorrect and had to be sent back. I would only recommend this place if you aren’t hungry and don’t mind standing for an hour.

Always a favorite of ours when visiting Blowing Rock. The onion soup is the best around. Great English pub food including fish and chips, Shepard pie and the Reuben is awesome. Best time to eat is during off hours as there can be a bit of a wait. There is a nice covered patio for when its not too cold but they do have heaters.

We have eaten here or grabbed a drink each time we’ve visited Blowing Rock. You might, think their popularity is only due to their stellar location in the middle of mainstreet, but they actually have great English pub style food. Inside is warm and inviting and if you don’t want to wait for a table you can sit at the bar and have your food there. Hubby ordered the Shepard’s pie meal and I had the soup and salad(French onion). Very decent food and I especially like how crisp all their lettuce is. They have several beers on tap if you prefer drafts like we do. Now if they would only paint that phone booth outside bright blue…

Neat place. A family tradition for us; coming here once a year in the fall. Good food across the board, especially their soups. I had the chicken barley soup! The fish and chips are a hit here. When it’s chilly, order hot chocolate.

We enjoyed a late-afternoon lunch on the patio. The fried pickles were hot and tasty; although we could have used another container of ranch dip since five were sharing the appetizer. The corn bisque was tasty with the right amount of creaminess. The chicken salad was chunky with lots of celery and not too much mayo. My sister and I split the daily special with potato salad… the banger sandwich was delicious but the cook was a little heavy handed with the spicy mustard and not so generous with the potato salad portion which was skimpy. We were charged a ‘splitting fee’ of $ 2; we were not told about that little charge and didn’t see it listed on the menu. Overall, I’d return for another meal. Other notes: the patio is pet friendly; the server even brought a water dish for our fellow diners’ pooch. The women’s restroom was clean.

This is quite the gem of a restaurant nestled in Blowing Rock with comforting food and great environment. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. I live in NY and my parents in Blowing Rock but I was able to call ahead of their visit and pay for their meal and bottle of wine as a birthday present. The hostess, Whitney, was very accommodating to ensure my parents were properly looked after. Service can make or break the experience and this place deserves a full five stars.

Food: 4 Service: 5 Ambience: 5 Date/Time: 8÷9÷20158:30pm The menu selection at this nice little pub is filled with a variety of sandwiches, burgers, wraps and appetizers. The Buffalo Chicken wrap was very good and the pub chips with Ranch is great! The only slight disappointment was the chicken tenders did not have a choice of grilled or dried but the chicken sandwiches offered it. Service was excellent from our server(Shy) who was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was excellent and the cool temps made it even nicer for outdoor seating. Definitely would recommend it!

Took the family here after the show at Ensemble Stage(thanks for the recommendation – and the coupon in the program, too!). What a great pub! The star of the show: Fish & Chips(beer battered cod tenderloin with pub fries, tartar sauce and malt vinegar), so delicious! Shepherd’s Pie(cottage pie – ground beef, peas, carrots, and onions in a savory brown sauce, topped with mashed potatoes, and cheddar cheese, served with a salad of crisp greens, cucumber, onion, tomato, and cheese) was very yummy, and they packed up the accompanying salad to go! Bangers & Mash(English recipe«Cumberland» sausages, with mashed potatoes and gravy, and vegetable of the day): Tasty, but the bangers were a little overdone. The menu has changed a bit from what they have posted on their website, but it’s a great spot for tasty bites, even late!

This is where my sister and I always go to to have a cocktail and some time together when we are visiting town without the rest of the family. The cocktails are consistently good and we have worked our way through the appetizer menu. Now, we always order the fried pickles and something else. Those things are amazing! The service is adequate and the bar provides good ambiance, while also providing a quiet enough atmosphere where you can enjoy the company of your companion without yelling.

After discussing starters with our server, we decided on the spicy potato fritters: hash brown potatoes, cheese and jalapenos. These fritters were perfectly browned on the outside and creamy and soft on the inside, and the light touch of jalapenos added just the right amount of kick. Even our five-year-old grandson liked them! I ordered the Shepherd’s Pie, sometimes called Cottage Pie. Layered with ground beef, peas, carrots, onions in a brown sauce with mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese, this dish was great, juicy, full of favors, and just the right balance of vegies and beef. The brown sauce brought it all together. Dora here. I opted for the Bangers & Mash, «Cumberland» sausages with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The portions were generous and more than enough to share with our grandson. The only thing left on my plate was the asparagus. :) We rate this restaurant 5 forks out of 5 for a family friendly restaurant serving outstanding food. Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I thought the batter on the fish and chips was outstanding. Nice thick pieces of cod. The chips were weak, fried slices of potatoes. No seasoning I could discern and not hot. But the fish was really spot on as they say across the pond. French onion soup was ok. Banger appetizer was really good. Precious loves dark beers. I don’t. The only non-American beer I’ve ever liked is Smithwick. They have it on tap, and I really enjoyed it. She enjoyed her choice of one of those dark ales that taste like cigar steeped in old coffee.

Nice find in downtown Blowing Rock. It’s not a local joint but rather a very small chain place. Maybe three other locations all in tourist locations. So this is an English pub style restaurant. Typical Americanized English bar menu with burgers, salads, fish and chips, shepherds pie, etc. Place is small on the inside, with a bar section and separate dining section. Outdoor seating available as well. As you would expect, good beer selection, along with a full bar. Nicely pub atmosphere, but kids are welcome since this is a tourist spot. As most places in the downtown area of Blowing Rock, you have to street park or park in a garage. No private parking. The food we sampled was above par. Highly recommend the burgers, French onion soup and Nachos(appetizer). The Nachos can come with chicken or beef. The chips are homemade(flour, not corn tortillas). Highly recommend the nachos as an appetizer. The fish and chips and shepherds pie were good but did not stand out. Overall, recommend this place.
