What a wonderful gem hidden away in the wooded mountains of east central Pennsylvania! The hard working and creative proprietors, Doug and Marika, have taken a historic and dilapidated old pumping station(used for the first ever in the world petroleum pipeline!) and transformed it into a beautiful, comfortable, and extraordinarily hospitable bed and breakfast and wedding venue. They have taken a variety of buildings, both industrial and residential, and crafted charming cottages fitting a variety of travelers needs and delights. The breakfasts were scrumptious and filling. You’ll want to watch for the artistry of Doug in the paintings and tile work throughout the grounds. It would be a perfect location for a family reunion as well as weddings!

What a beautiful place to have a wedding. My friend got married here on Saturday night. This is a beautiful site. She had her ceremony right by the river that flows in the back of the property. Then her cocktail hour and reception were held in the main structures. This place has a lot of character and history and is such a great, unique spot to have a wedding. The staff was wonderful. At night, there was a bonfire in the back where we roasted marshmallows. We didn’t have cell reception which was actually a blessing. No one touched their phones other than to take photos. The only downside to this place was the lack of bathrooms. There was only one bathroom for the entire place so there was a line for the ladies and the guys went outside which was fine for the guys because this place is surrounded by woods. The bride and groom and their immediate family stayed at the Pump House while the other guests stayed at a nearby hotel. The bride and groom showed us their room which was gorgeous. I would love to come back and stay for a weekend.

Came here for a wedding, they rented out the whole property and all the rooms. It was my first time in a B&B, it was really nice and rustic and away from any kind of city or civilization. The cellular service was spotty at best and the Wifi was okay but not fast enough to stream video, which was fine. It was really nice to unplug from the world and relax. There is a real life condition on the rise caused by the advancement of cell phone technology called text neck. Where people get an early onset of arthritis by looking down and texting or reading for long periods of time. We could all use a little time out from texting and smart phones. Some of the structures were built in 1908 and there is an old pump house(hence the name), which back in the day required one every 50 miles along the oil pipe line in order to pump oil across the country. This pump house is one of the few remaining today. From first look it looks like a large water tank but that is just the exterior that housed the pumping station inside. Doug the owner is a really nice guy and helped moving palates of chairs around with his tractor when were setting up for the wedding. The food was also excellent! Some of the peppers came from his garden on the property. Its the little touches like a small sprinkle of feta cheese on the eggs. And to be honest, the BEST french toast ive ever had! I don’t usually order french toast because its usually a let down, but this was phenomenal! I forget the details of it all but it was a true restaurant quality dish; Cinnamon, sugar, and other things that i can’t remember(sorry i forgot my camera that morning) The property is pretty large and has a few buildings, lots of trees and even a river running along the back which we took a dip in, it was cold but refreshing and shallow enough(shin high) were you could sit in and be comfortable and cool off. There were some bugs too but you should expect that if you’re in the middle of the woods and next to water. I liked the outdoor breakfast area on Doug’s back porch, it had lots of charm with the vines growing up the lattices and plants all around. Very nice and relaxing. It was just really nice to unplug from the world, relax and get back to nature and talk to people face to face instead of texting someone in the next room.

Got married here last summer, Doug and his family were incredibly accommodating, everyone had a great time. We had about 20 people over for breakfast the next morning, everyone loved their meal. Virtually no cell service in small valley they’re in, so it’s a wonderfully peaceful weekend getaway, with Knoebel’s nearby, the Yeungling brewery, and a variety of other things to do. You can also swim in the stream. The rooms themselves were clean and beautifully decorated with tile made by Doug in his artist studio(which is where we actually had the wedding– stays nice and cool, even on hot days.) Technically there is Wi-Fi, although it’s a bit weak. But you don’t need to come here and use the internet, just enjoy the moment, as life moves too quickly.
