This is a funny little place, easily overlooked. They’re not spending their budget on PR or cosmetic upgrades. Expect to spend all day here. Ok, maybe more like 3 hours. More if the upstairs is open with extra projects. More if you only have one kid, so they don’t have a sibling to fight with. More if you are really into building giant foam block towers or K’nex cars or I dont even know what the large nuts and bolts project was. How do you feel about electricity? Motion sensors? Weights and pulleys? Here’s who you should send to the Works: the people in your life who like to tinker(looking right at the grumpy old men. and childfree aunts and uncles.) Ideal for ages 5 – 9, but good for the young ones and the older ones as well. The oddly located Scandinavian bakery in the grocery across the street? Grandpa will like that too.

Very busy place with lots of large groups of kids. I thought my younger grandson might be too young for this place, but both boys had a great time here and wanted to come back after lunch. We ended up spending the whole day here.

I thought this place was a blast! Even the adults were having a tons of fun! The museum has a ton of different engineered based activities for nearly all ages. There are stations set up throughout a large open area with instructions on how to build cars, circuits, etc. When we purchased our entrance fee the wonderful woman told the kids«Your job is to touch EVERYTHING. Is that OK?» I was babysitting for a friend and her boy LITUP! They were not kidding, hands on everything! The only downfall for me was the little stools they had at the tables for the kids. While the 4 year old was able to handle those just fine, I had a 2 year old that fell off of them a couple of times. They were too high for him and without arms on the chairs, he was just scoot over to grab something and then fall off. The had two areas of to play. There was a large open area and then also a place upstairs that was much more engineering. We made catapults. I mean, what 4 year old boy doesn’t like that??? The staff was amazingly friendly and obviously love their jobs. I would highly recommend this place. I would say, however, to not bring children under 3. It is better for 4 years + in my opinion.
