Once again I have treated myself to best Italian sandwich in town – right here at Kelly Tobin’s La Gondola Spaghetti House. The hot Sicilian sandwich is unbeatable. I think it’s the sauce that makes it so. There is no pizza bread, fancy prosciutto, or anything named after any watercraft that compares. Kelly’s place is clean, family oriented, and offers a huge menu of great pastas and sandwiches – all at a great price. Be sure check out the family specials they run and the original Tobin’s pizza there. Thanks Kelly!

I have eaten at this La Gondola location numerous times since I live close enough to walk to it. I mostly eat the spaghetti special on Fridays but have tried their thin crust pizza, the torpedo, the Hot Sicilian and the garlic bread. For starters, I like their spaghetti. Especially the Italian meatballs. They have a good flavor to them and are large. I usually order the spaghetti with a side order of five meatballs. They are inexpensive, around $ 2.50-$ 3.00 for five. The garlic bread is above average IF you like your garlic bread really moist and drowning in butter and garlic(which I do). I liked the Hot Sicilian. It came with LOTS of mozzarella cheese on top and good tasting salami. I didn’t really like the Torpedo the two times I tried it. I got it with ham and I thought it was a good value considering how large it is(almost two feet long), but just not that good. They are too dry and don’t have enough flavor. Jimmy John’s «Vito» subs are WAY better! I am not a fan of the«sweet» bread that both La Gondola and Avanti’s serve! But… the bread tastes better with either garlic or lots of cheese on it(or both). I tried a large thin crust pizza one night with sausage and black olives. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t that good either. I liked it better than Monical’s but not as much as Tobin’s. Of all the restaurants that serve pizza in Blo/No, Tobin’s is the best BY A MILE! Don’t come on Sundays, they are closed on Sundays(which I think is classy).

This place isn’t excellent, but it isn’t bad either. The Italian beef is one of the best in Blo-No, but, quite honestly, that isn’t saying much because they aren’t served anywhere else. The torpedo is better than the gondola at Avanti’s. Also, the family feast is a good price for a lot of food. Cough up the extra dollar or so for the ravioli or tortellini in lieu of spaghetti.

I had the spaghetti and meatballs I was very impressed ! The meatballs were soft and tasty. Normally meatballs are hard as a rock! Not a bad deal at all

Left before my order was completed. Simply asked for sausage on my pizza bread and the lady looked at me like I asked for ketchup on my pancakes and swiftly declined my request. She was unapologetic. I recommend Avantis… service here is garbage.

Its good but the service is not good. The girl was laughing the entire time she took my order along with all the other people working there. And then i got to watch my torpedo be put together with a girls bare hands. Definitely call ahead so you dont have to witness the unprofessional atmosphere.

If you’re looking for the original Tobin’s pizza, this is the place to go. Going to the actual Tobin’s results in greasy cheap sub par toppings and a changed recipe. The original Tobin’s recipe is right at La Gondola and absolutely amazing. I live out of town now and when visiting, the original Tobin’s locations was such a disappointment. A friend let me know that they were making the original recipe at La Gondola and so I had to check it out. I grew up on this pizza and now anytime I am back to Blo-No, La Gondola is must have. Thank you for bringing it back!

This place is great. We stopped by on our way from St. Louis to Chicago. Just saw it and said lets try it. kelly was great and the food was awesome! With 2 kids we try to find decent good for s good price but this is awesome food for the price of eating at McDonald’s! We go out of our way to stop by. We will plan our traveling so we can have s meal at LaGondola. Keep up the great work. BTW the garlic bread and meatballs are awesome!

My wife and I ordered the turkey and regular torpedo sandwiches on our way out of town. The lone star rating is for the bread… that is all. The bread is good but the rest of the sandwich was absolutely gross. We had yellow lettuce, old tomatoes, and cold cuts. Nothing was fresh and it showed. When I asked them to add mayo and deli mustard, the staff pointed me to packets of room temperature salad dressing. I knew at that moment I had made a huge mistake. My wife compared it to a gas station sandwich only bigger. In this case bigger isn’t better because we ate a quarter of each of our sandwiches and threw the rest away.

I have eaten here many times and decent fast food torpedos are the best thing I have had. Dinner sizes(ravioli, spagetti) are huge with salad and bread big portions. However I decided to try a Tobins pizza which they make here because I remember them from the past. So ordered a 14 inch with mushroom, onion, and green pepper cause one of my daughters is a vegitarian and was informed I get a free gondola with it on Thursday nights. Wow they are certainly proud of their pizza 22bucks for a 14 inch with 3 items? In a competitive BloNo pizza market really? I guess they made up for the free gondola by upping the pizza price. Pizza was good not great so wont be getting the pizza here anymore.

After a failed attempt to eat here… they are closed on Sunday’s… we stopped by last weekend to give it a try. We ordered the Family Feast, Pizza Bread and an extra Torpedo for take out. The Torpedo is every bit as good as Avanti’s Gondola and the kids really loved the Pizza Bread! The interior could use some updating, but we had no complaints with the food and will be stopping here again.

The torpedo sandwich is AMAZING! The bread is fresh and so soft! It tasted slightly sweet like pan de sol. No dressing necessary. The sandwich is already very flavorful. My dad used to eat at the original la gondola when he was in college… They have a history of being great.

I like their spaghetti there and their hot ham and cheese. I tried their Italian beef today and it wasn’t much to write home about. I usually do carryout ahead of time, so it’s ready by the time I get there. They accept debit card, cash, and it’s a good price. I just wish the family feast came with more spaghetti.

Ambience: Could use some remodeling around this joint Staff: pleasant enough Quality and Quantity of food: We couldn’t eat all we ordered. Price: We spent about $ 7 person including tax, and drinks Bottom line: We will definitively return and would highly recommend to anyone hungry in BloNo.

I was driving by here awhile back, and saw their sign about Kelly Tobin’s pizza, so i decided to try it. Wow! I was really impressed with the quality of their hamburger pizza. It was hot, and had a nice texture. And with a side of bbq sauce for dipping, it was fantastic.

For a great place to eat some cheap Italian food this would be the spot. There lasagna is delicious, and loaded with sauce & cheese. The bread is very good and baked daily, and really compliments any meal. Me & my gf really enjoy the pizza there and its priced fair. The atmosphere is laid back, and a place we really enjoy going too.

The spaghetti deal(all you can eat for $ 5) is okay – if you are really hungry you can get your money’s worth. The bread is pretty good, but bring your own drink as the water is NASTY!

My visit to this place was a classic case of Murphy’s Law. First, me and 3 of my friends wanted to go to Biaggi’s. At an hour and a half wait, we decided to go somewhere else. I have always seen La Gondola and suggested it. Walking up to the place, you know it’s kinda sketchy. Tuesdays and Fridays are«all-u-can-eat» spaghetti for about $ 5. There is a DRIVE-THRU(Drive-thru pasta, really?). The inside looks like a German donut shop, but the menu design looks like it belongs in a hot dog place. And the prices were weird… like $ 4.01 for something. My friends and I looked at each and all thought the same thing but no one said anything, so we ordered. My friend’s ravioli had weird green stuff in it, another’s garlic bread was burnt, and another asked for her marinara sauce on the side, but they gave it to her smothered in it. When she went up to correct this, they simply threw out the perfectly fine pasta. Also, I was the only one who was given parmesan cheese. My sauce was kind of watery. One friend threw up immediately after eating. Another spent the night in the bathroom. I almost made myself throw up. Never again. Can not recommend. Go to Olive Garden, Biaggi’s or Avanti’s. Or make it yourself… even that would taste better.
