I am 43 years old and have been wearing contacts for 30 years. I went for my eye exam at Brtva and Associates. I still had six pairs of contact lenses but was eligible for an eye exam so I went to have my prescription when it was time to for me to order new. That time came this month — 8 months after my appointment(I wear my glasses a lot). They refused to allow me to order my contacts or give me a copy of my prescription. Instead they wanted to double dip and have me pay $ 89 for a new visit. Contact lens prescriptions are good for a year. I called eyemed, who said they have to release my prescription — it was paid for to the tune of $ 154.00. I called them and they still refuse to release it. Suddenly claiming that I have no contact lens prescrption(I do). After dealing with Lenscrafters affiliated doctors for 15+ years in Ohio and Texas for myself and my 3 children, it is now time to take my business elsewhere. Based on my review and everyone before me — I hope you do as well.

Be careful with this people. They never gave my a heads up for my contacts exam and when we were done they charge $ 120 for me and my wife«training and follow up contacts apps» really, if you tell me in advance you will charge $ 60.00 for 10 mins. training of how to put my contacts… I will never accept it. I even spoke with the manager and she has nothing to say just«sorry, this are our office policies». I worked for a dental office and if you do not tell how much will be in advance, some patients can eat your eyes. Please, just be fair and give a heads up before do any procedures. I don’t care how much your charge, that’s is your«office policies», but just charge after words, it is NOT fair. Be carefull with this office. I have wonderful experiences with other Lenscrafter’s doctors but this was a very bad experience.

If you don’t care about service or how your children will be treated, this place is for you! I made the huge mistake of making an appointment for my husband, myself, and my four-year-old son for an eye exam at Dr. Brtva’s office in Bloomington(inside Lenscrafter’s) because he was on a list from out vision insurance. The hours were what worked for us so I called to make sure they had a system in place to accommodate my 4-year-old. I was assured that pictures were used and that they had a system in place to accommodate accordingly. I took that as a good reason to go to this office. BIGMISTAKE! I know next time, it is worth it to take time off of work and to pay extra to see a real doctor accustomed to working with small children. The«doctor» was horrible with my son. He did not introduce himself to my son. He never explained anything he was doing to my son or why. My son was so fearful of the doctor, he froze. He didn’t respond, he didn’t react to the doctor. He, in fact, curled up on the chair and was attempting to get away from the doctor. I suggested the doctor use his toy(that I brought) to implement some of the tests to gauge his interest and was sternly told, «Mom, sit down.» I was so disgusted with, not only the way he spoke to and treated my son, but also the way he spoke to me. Not only were the«pictures» he used archaic, I couldn’t even make out what some of the pictures were. Useless. Instead of pointing the finger at a 4-year-old, learn how to work with small children. Have utensils in the exam room that is relevant to children. If not, when a concerned parent calls in, tell them you don’t accommodate small kids. I would rather save my son the trauma of a horrible eye exam. Brtva had the audacity to accuse my son of not being on his mile markers of a 4-year-old and he was showing signs of having something wrong with him compared to all the rest of boys his age that Brtva’s done eye exams for… which happens to be a lot. All this from a 5 minute attempt to get my son to do an eye exam directed for adults(and the 1.5 hour wait to see my son during lunch time). Um, last time I checked with the pediatricians, my son was right on track. Brtva also informed me that my son’s eyes did not work together and that if one moved, the other didn’t work with it to move together; didn’t work together to focus. This is something I and his pediatrician’s would have noticed in the last 4 years of his life. I have no idea where Brtva got this from; perhaps the darting movement of my son’s eyes, from paralyzing fear of the doctor, but funny that the pediatrician was able to exam eyes and had no such conclusion or worry. The second time my son had to go back(after getting his eye’s dilated) to the exam room, I had my husband take him. I couldn’t stand to look at the doctor. Funny thing is, the doctor never spoke of the signs of my son showing he wasn’t on track for 4-year-old’s but in fact told my husband how 4-year-old’s are not really old enough to sit still for eye exams. How and when did Brtva change his mind? Why would he tell me one thing and something else to my husband? We will NEVER be back and will most definitely not recommend him to anyone we know. The tech’s present in the waiting area(6 crammed seats) where I was telling my husband how the doctor was treating me/my son never asked us to fill out a comment card. It’s ironic how we were not asked while other customers that breezed in and out of there were asked to. Next time, we’ll go to Dr. Pinter and pay the specialist co-pay and get stellar service. My youngest goes to Dr. Pinter(a doctor of ophthalmology, MD) and has since the age of 12 months and has always left smiling and even laughing! His staff is amazing. Eye Surgical Associates 1505 Eastland Drive Suite 2200 Bloomington, IL61701. GOTHEREINSTEAD! Don’t learn the hard way like we did. It wasn’t worth saving the $ 45 for my son to walk out traumatized. Seriously. It makes a difference when a trained professional is actually trained to worked with children. That’s why Dr. Pinter’s website states his area of specialty is pediatric patients. He truly is amazing with children(recommended to me by my pediatrician). I’m not affiliated with Dr. Pinter or his office in any way. I’m a concerned parent that doesn’t want any other child/parent to go through what we did.
