This location is great just as is the downtown one, but just a little too far for me! This is actually one of the very first restaurants in Bloomington so nostalgia creeps up every time I pass it, but I prefer to indulge at the location that is closer to me.

Very slow service. 30 minutes to get food and restaurant wasn’t very crowded. Food was just eh. We came to town for an IU game and chose this place because we wanted to stay away from a chain. Panera next time!

I’m not really sure why I keep coming back to this place. I have had my order«forgotten about» twice, then rushed and made incorrectly. It’s overpriced and poorly run. I think tonight was my last visit.

It took 18 minutes for my bagel to come out. Brought out by a rude girl who kind of tossed it on the table and then just walked away.

Not sure if their is new management, or management is lacking, but this location is incredibly slow. Waited 15 minutes for a panini.

So you can check me out. I don’t give out very many 5 star reviews to anyone. I am just very glad that I didn’t let some of these ridiculous reviews scare me off from trying this place out. We had lunch here today Saturday August 29th and it was amazing! If I was inclined to knock any points off them it would be the guy at the register, he had minimal menu knowledge and wasn’t the friendliest but everyone else there was very warm and friendly to us. First of all we are two guys who can eat, and we ordered half sandwiches which are larger than most places whole ones. I am not kidding. So I got the half of a Chicken wrap and the coleslaw, and I never order coleslaw out at a restaurant and I ate it all. The wrap was delicious and very filling. I loved the black bean and corn salsa in it. My spouse got the half Turkey Lorraine and said it was delicious as well. I decided to go back in and get some dessert because it would be next to impossible to stand at the counter and order your meal without your mouth watering for all these amazing desserts they have in the case in front of you. So I bought a strawberry cupcake which was out of this world and then some dream bar I believe it was which had coconut, chocolate and white chips and a ton of other things on it and it was mouth watering as well. If you eat and then get dessert as well it can add up but I still thought the value was there. Trust me we really didn’t need any dessert it was just that irresistible. I do wish they used to go cups when you purchase a fountain drink so that I could take one with me but hey not a huge deal. I had talked to a really nice lady and told her about my reservations about dining there with the negative reviews on Unilocal and told her that after eating here that the people who wrote the negative reviews are either competitors or insane because it don’t get any better than this in Bloomington! We were dining outside and it wasn’t long after I had spoken to her that a gentleman came out to our table and introduced himself as the General Manager and appreciated out kind words about how great the food was, he talked to us for quite a while. Just a very friendly guy and certainly made us feel welcomed and valued. As if this review could not get any better, we were emptying our trash and about to head out the door and the General Manager stopped us and thanked us again and then gave us a bag of their granola. Now I am not a huge granola eater but that was most definitely a very nice gesture and one that I have not experienced in a very long time. That type of service has made us loyal customers for as long as we live in the Bloomington area!

How does this place compete with Panera and McAlisters? I so want a non-chain place to be the best, but am consistently disappointed in this place. The sandwiches come on bread that overwhelms what is in between. The kids meals leave my young daughters hungry(the kids hamburger is served ala carte). At similar price points, Panera and McAlisters deliver better food and a better experience. Please step up your lunch game, S.I. Bake house, I want to praise you.

I came here to visit a friend on an early Friday afternoon. I ordered a salad and a drink. The spinach salad was pretty good and had great portobello mushrooms on it, but it was nothing to write home about. My friend ordered a cappuccino and a pastry, but the barista completely forgot about her cappuccino and she went back to ask about it after 20 minutes. There is a good amount of parking, plenty of places to sit indoors, and a few tables outside. It looked like there were several people with books and laptops, so it must be a good place to study. I’ve been told the bread is amazing, but I’m not much of a bread person so I can’t report. I’ve been told the VIP club can get you some great deals. There are some great specials on burgers and salads on certain days of the week, and my friend loves the pastries! You bus yourself, but the bussing station at the time was a mess and clearly not attended to. It was pretty gross. I personally has a meh experience due to the lackluster food and poor service, but my friend who actually lives in the area goes there a lot.

I love this place! The staff is always friendly and the food is delicious. I love to come here when I need to get work done. The atmosphere is relaxing and there’s always coffee if you need the extra brain power. I came today for breakfast for the first time and asked for orange juice, I was surprised to find that it was freshly squeezed! Wow! Definitely recommend this place.

Chai tea is meh. Fruit shakes are not real fruit, flavoring is strongly syrupy. And whatever bagel is supposed to be available for lox and bagel, is never available. Staff is almost bipolar. Friendly or sour, not consistent. However… Family friendly. Four cheese eggs delish. Lox with Sun dried bagel, my fave. Well lit, good parking, not loud, clean. A little pricy, not ridiculous. Management cares here.

My boyfriend and I ordered take out from here and it was beyond disappointing. It is very overpriced for what you get. He ordered the California burger which was about the size of a slider instead of a hamburger. Ridiculous for what it is priced for. I ordered the turkey cobb salad. In my opinion, it is pretty hard to mess up a salad but Schollars Inn Bakehouse sufficiently did. First of all, the«avocados» on the salad was really just a pile of their guacamole plopped in the middle. Secondly, the turkey that was on it was basically lunch meat turkey. The salad was also disproportional to its price. This $ 9 salad was a tad bigger than an average side salad. And to top it all of, the lettuce had gone bad. Half of the lettuce leaves were black from being old. The only good thing I have to say about the experience was the ranch. The ranch was pretty spot on. I would not and will not recommend this place to anyone.

$ 2.50 for a bottomless cup of coffee and Wednesday $ 3 burgers make it the perfect place to study all day… on Wednesdays. Their burgers aren’t big or tasty enough for me to eat them on any other day, and the friends are $ 1.50 extra, which is pushing it considering the size of the portion(small) and the quality(okay). But yeah – burger and fries for under $ 5 is always awesome. Did I mention all the coffee you can drink?

Ugghh… crumbs all over tables and chairs, dishes piled in the bus tub, no spoons and surley looking staff standing around just talking and ignoring the mess. I was embarrassed that I suggested it for a meeting. Never again!

I’ve been here several times over the past three years that I’ve lived in Bloomington. The good things about this place are that there is free parking, lots of seating inside, and that they have free wi-fi. They also have a lot of specials such as large salads on Mondays for $ 4.50 and $ 3 burgers(including a vegetarian option) on Wednesdays. People watching is also relatively good here and the Bakehouse is cool with you hanging out for as long as you want given that you are a paying customer. The reason I can’t give more than 3 stars though is that nothing here will really impress you. The desserts are way too sugary and below average and the food is well… just average. Today I got the Vegetarian Chili(bowl) which was pretty satisfying, but nothing I would call above average. Check out this place if you are a local, but skip it if you are visiting from out of town. There are better places to spend your time.

Great burgers. Might be best I’ve had! They have an excellent assortment of teas as well. Had soup yesterday and loved it too! The place can get crowded at lunch, but they manage the crowd well.

Thought it was pretty good. Like the atmosphere and the funky décor. Stopped for lunch… pretty crowded so, no tables left, that’s always a good sign.(As a personal rule I try to avoid places with empty dining rooms for the obvious reasons). Anywho I forget what they were calling it… funny French name that escapes me right now. Basically a ham & cheese toasted onto very fresh little bread roll.(Like croque monsieur, but nothing on the outside maybe?) The counter-person taking my order was trying to warn me that it was not a «large portion», came with no sides or anything… but I found it to be just the right amount of food. Thanks for leaving the pepsi machine out in the dining area where people can get their own refills. Freakin love that… +1 star ;)

Meh is right. I was very let down this morning. Tried to order a breakfast sandwich without the egg and was told that it was not possible. Really? Someone can’t refrain from making an egg? If it came on it prepackaged, and lets hope not, it could be taken off. Not sure why it was such a big request. So, settled for the french toast. The serving was large, but I would have gladly taken less toast if I could get a side of sausage included. My meal was just okay. Syrup was nothing special, and its serving was only enough for about one slice. Disappointed for sure. The person with me got a platter. It came with a little bit of everything. He agreed that it was just alright. Toast was dry, the rest was average. Also, Before we even got to the food, we got there early on accident. It opens at 7:30 on saturday and it was 7:26. We waited outside, seen by the staff, until a few after 7:30. I understand we made a mistake by coming early, but we were not the only ones. At other places if that happens they usually still let you come in and sit, look at the menu.
