For the reviews below 3 star, your expectations are wrong. This is a typical American-chinese restaurant, NOT a Japanese Hibachi place. Been there a few times. Nothing went wrong with the usual American-chinese dish, General Tso’s chicken, Pepper steak, Beef & Broccoli and etc. The food, price and services are just as I expected from a place like this. Never tried the Hibachi, because I know this is not a Hibachi by just looking at the setup. One more tip: don’t order off the menu. They charge ridiculous price if it is not on the menu.

SALTsuka!!! Ugh! The hibachi would have been great without the massive amount of salt that burned my mouth on the first bite. It was way over sauced. Even the salad was swimming in a pool of dressing-water. Not good.

Horrible service. all the orders at the table were messed up. Ordered extra meat and was served half a serving instead. Avoid this restaurant at any cost.

If I can give this restaurant a negative star, I won’t hesitate to do so! This has been the worst Chinese food I had in the past 10 years! Service was horrible! Didn’t even offer a drink? What kind of restaurant does this? Entrees were warm, very salty. For the price that we paid, it’s definitely not worth the visit there. So If you can avoid the trip there, I would do so. And they become the only restaurant that left open in that mall(which probably won’t happen), I would still rather go home and make myself a cup of ramen noodle and call it a meal! enough said, avoid this place!

Asuka will provide you with an event at the hibachi grill! What a show! Your reason for visiting their restaurant will be acknowledged by the hibachi master and he will size you up for your reasoning by throwing fake eggs and squirting drinks at you. The final product was a little on the oily side, but absolutely just so exciting to have hot flames of food in front of you.

Horrible food! Asuka was a good restaurant, but it is getting worse these years. The food is cold, I asked for re-cooking and they did nothing but put the cold food back to the table.

Visited this place while on a retailer business trip. Would definetly come here again. Had the beef noodle soup and t was very tasty. The beef was very fresh. Also had the avacado eel sushi avacado was very fresh also. I enjoyed this food. Staff was very quick and friendly. Dont be fooled by the other reviews, try the place out for some very good chinese food and japense food as well!

Really good hibachi. It’s pricey, but so good. I’ve been here a few times and have never been disappointed. I enjoyed everything I got except the salad they give you, but that’s just a personal preference.

The food here was below the average and the price was high above the average among other Chinese restaurants in town. The service here was really bad, never been to this place for more than 1 and a half year.

By far the worst Japanese food I’ve ever had in the last 5 years I can clearly recall. 99% sure its the worst that I’ve had in my entire life too. They have no respect for their food, no respect for their customers by serving them it, and no respect for themselves to have the audacity of calling this Japanese food. What kind of place serves the wrong fish, uses fish that would be unwanted even at a Red Lobster kitchen for sashimi, and uses a brined salmon in sushi. I despise the whole concept of a Philadelphia roll, but you’ll be hard pressed find even a faux-Japanese restaurant other than Asuka that uses a brined salmon. Do the owners really think that no one can tell the difference?

I’ve never seen the hype around Asuka. The first time I went I left highly unimpressed and dissatisfied. The second time I went was because I lost via majority vote to friends. And guess what? I left unimpressed and dissatisfied. The sashimi isn’t all that fresh and the sushi is tasteless. They basically smother all their sushi with sauces to mask the tastelessness of whatever you order. I’ve been spoiled by sushi from California and Chicago, so this review might seem unfair. But after eating at mikado, sushi bar, and aim I can honestly say those places are way better then asuka and as close to big city sushi as you are going to get in Bloomington.

After a quick look over the menu(hibachi tables, a sushi bar, and various udon dishes) we opted for the hibachi experience. We had shrimp, scallops, and chicken. It was OK, not great. The chef dropped some blobs of cold garlic on everything at the end of cooking and then didn’t mix it, so it was pockets of minced garlic in there. Surprise! Also ordered a spicy scallop roll just to see what that was about. The scallops were so cold… maybe just a tab above freezing… a hint of ice crystals. Eh. Not a show stopper, but not great. The food here… well, there’s no love, no passion. Just bored staff going through the motions it seems like. Several very nice fish tanks! Mediocre hibachi lunch for three, and 3 cokes, $ 50+ with tip. Yikes!
