A classic NJ dive bar and I mean that in a good way. A friendly crowd that is very welcoming to newcomers. My first time there I found myself engrossed in a conversion almost immediately upon sitting down. At first I didn’t expect much in the food department, but was pleasantly surprised. The sizzler steak special is a good value at $ 12.99 and my steak has always been cooked the way I ordered it. Buffalo wings are crunchy and meaty and served with a good wing sauce. The burger is pretty good too. If you order it rare, you get RARE. Weekend afternoons usually offer delicious specials, meatloaf, quesadillas, sliders — whatever the cook decides,. You never know what you will encounter, but it is usually comfort food with a home cooked feel. All of the bartenders are great. Friendly and efficient. Some greet you as an old friend even if it’s your first time, and if it is your first time the bartenders will often introduce you to those sitting near you. There are plenty of TVs, usually tuned to various sports or reality cooking shows. If a game you are interested isn’t on, the bartender will usually gladly put it on for you. The Stumble is a strange place in that you can never tell what you’re going to encounter there crowd-wise. I’ve been there times where I had to wait for a parking spot and others when it was just me and the bartender. Most bars have their big nights and those are pretty regular. The crowds at Stumble are so haphazard. You can go there on a Tuesday and have to wait for a seat at the bar and the following Tuesday you walk in to just 3 or 4 people at the bar. Fridays and Saturdays can be hopping, or they can be pretty dead. You never can tell what you’ll find at the Stumble. My only issue with Stumble is the selection of tap beer, which is right out of 1977. All big brewery, American lagers. Bud, Bud light, Coors, Coors light, Miller Lite, PBR, with Yeungling being the one draught beer that tastes remotely like beer. They did have a very good Long Trail IPA for a while, but replaced that with some crappy summer shandy. Perhaps if they can’t have a good beer on tap, a better selection of bottled brews would be an improvement. Good prices, surprisingly good food, good people and a good neighborhood bar.

I just read the three different reviews(by Matt, Greg, and Walter) they are all right on target. I’ve gone there on & off for the past 30 yrs. and know everyone there. However I just heard a guy named«KEVIN«got cut-up with a «Box Cutter» by some«Low-Life women» named«TINA»; both are NOTREGULARS at the«Stumble Inn». Apparently KEVIN is a real A** HOLE who starts Brawls; both he & his friends are known to JUMP a guy & beat him up for no reason at all. Apparently this A** HOLE was being himself & giving this«Low-Life women, TINA» a hard time in the Parking Lot. She pulled out a «Box Cutter» & Cut KEVIN up. No one really seemed SURPRISED& everyone there that night said«it was about time»; «he got what he disserved». This happened the first week of OCT. 2014. I did not read about it in the«Local Paper» or see it on «The Patch» web sight. I am REALLYSURPRISED this happened at the«Stumble Inn» as it’s a nice friendly neighborhood Bar, where everybody knows your name .

I have been going to the Stumble now for over 40 yrs It has changed hands in that time and I found that the owner just can’t please you enough with in reason, and the food is good and prices are resonable. The people that visit it are friendly and will talk to you even if they never meet you before. No attitudes, It is the type of bar that my wife can go into and wait for me to get there and I don’t have to worry one bit. No frills rustic, big shuffle board real fast table if you like to play.

The Stumble Inn is a classic NJ dive if I ever saw one. Friendly patrons, cheap drinks and lovely old-fashioned décor. If you’re lucky, a stranger will teach you how to play table shufflebard(also featured at the rival Trackside).
