Number One Chinese Restaurant

the absolute worst experience and customer service ever! not only do they not speak english they talk over you and hang up when you call to complain. i placed an order using my amex. they said one hour. i said fine. hour and a half late, i called. oh it’s on the way they said. nothing. called back. oh sorry what’s your number? give it, which will be the first of over ten times, oh yes. sorry it’s out for deliver she says. two hours later i call. where is my order?! oh no no record of your order she says. maybe you called wrong chinese restaurant she says. what! she speaks jibberish and hangs up! and i’m a fucking regular customer! they know me. not again. not ever. i’ll be going to rip them a new one but never never going there again as a customer! my amex better not be charged or else! stop doing business with them. i demand an apology. they should get zero stars.

I have been a patron here for more than 15 years but over the years the service and quality of food have been declining. Usually it is a hit or a miss with your food but lately it’s been a miss.

My friend and I called for take out the other night. We didn’t have a menu and there isn’t one available online. She placed an order for both of us. When we got there we were told that they «don’t make Mongolian beef». Why did someone take the order if they don’t make it. We then placed another order but they just never acknowledged us and we had to keep going up to the counter and asking about the order. Once I finally got the food it was mediocre at best. Too much soy in the sauce. No ginger. Tasted like #2.

Seriously just pissed. I have been coming here for a while but moved away from the area and decided to take a trip down memory lane and treat myself to some grease. Went to the buffet to side and ordered two dishes. One of them I asked if I could replace the starch with broccoli. I was told yes but when I then have her 3 entrees she told me that I had to pay extra because of having 4 entrees. Okay. Fine. Strike one. Then I ask if since I had been charged for the starch and then paid extra for the extra entrée, if I could just have the starch anyway in a separate container and I was told no… Just «no» while this man-​bitch was swiping my card… So it was fine to pay for the meal and the additions but for some reason I was not able to request part of the meal I paid for. I certainly won’t be driving across town for this type of disrespect again…

Just went there today and ordered shrimp fried rice and to my suprise I found a roach cooked in my rice, I returned it and I didn’t even get a apology just a full refund! AVOID THIS PLACE!

Number Ones Manager needs to be fired. I asked for light Sauce and I got heavy Sauce. Called The manager and he gave me a attitude. Ive been eating here for over 10 years. I found Hair in my food and called and her said hair is something they can’t stop from getting in the food.

I ordered rice and chicken from this place. My rice order came with a. Cockroach inside!!! I went back to return and complain. The owner told me to keep silent and immediately refunded my money. I will never go here again!!! Please this place is disgusting!!!

PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR THE FOOD THAT YOU ORDER!!! Three days ago I ordered chicken wings with pork fried rice and bought some drinks for my husband and I before our tv show came on. Upon eating the food we noticed that the chicken wings tasted really really weird so we lost our appetite and tossed it away. Then the next day, my friend texts me saying that her boyfriend found what appears to be a roach in his fried rice. He drove back to the Chinese store and the man behind the counter did not say one single word he just refunded him his $ back and walked away like WTF. I am contacting the Health Department.

Mostly do takeout or deliver from this place. It’s not the best Chinese food but it’s better than the other surrounding Chinese restaurants. There’s usually a high turn out for food so that’s a plus. More than likely you won’t get food that’s been sitting out for a while.
Service is a hit or miss. With more misses than necessary. If you do takeout/​delivery, make sure to check that all of your items are included. I’ve had a number of occasions were things were missing. Also with a delivery guy, there’s a chubby guy that if you ask him how much is it, he’ll add a dollar or two to the total bill. He rips the receipt beforehand, beware.

I always go to No 1. They give you actual SHRIMP not shrimp peices in your shrimp friend rice. Genreally speaking the food us usually pretty good. I like the fact that I can eat in, or take out. Its not the usual «ghetto chinese» you see in the area. You know the place, they have no chairs, no tables, and bullet proof class seperating you from your food LOL. Thats what you usualy see in this area. No 1 isnt the best chinese i’ve had but its pretty good. I used to go to a place called Moy Bing, Orange street in Newark. Now they had the BEST chinese i“ve ever had. Wish they hadnt closed…

Been there on countless occasions and the food was always fresh. Good quick bite to eat. I took a star off for the service.

Not the best but they definitely beat everybody else around them. Delivery is quick ! Food is Great ! Descent affordable prices ! Only thing is i wouldn’t recommend eating in, a bit ghetto and Broken Furnitures.

The customer service sucks!!! It’s a woman that always answer the phone, that is always rude as they come!!! The delivery guys is horrible but one his name is Young. Very sweet guy! But the rest of the people that work there are rude! Not to mention the food was cold and wrong! They have lost me as a customer!! FYI the only reason they got one star is because I couldn’t post without rating this horrible place!

This place is number 2. Poop. If u dont mind eating your food aggravated, this is the place for you. I came here for the buffet deal, and i left with an extra dose of rudeness & aggravation. Too bad no. 1 your definitely no. 2 poop. Not worth it

They messws my food up one too many times but its clean i can say that n they also have a great big fush tank in the back sitting area which i guess can b claiming to some

I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl. The owners have changed but I still make it a point to stop by whenever I’m back in the neighborhood. I have heard that the food has gotten worse but I haven’t had a problem with it.
They were able to serve my large family without any problems and the waitstaff was really nice. They told my grandmother they couldn’t believe she was my grandmother, lol.
Food was good (though honestly I’ve had better) and the service was great.

This place is really convenient. It’s located in a local strip mall type plaza. The food is usually fresh. I have dined in once but I prefer to take out. All the food is laid out as if it was buffet style or in a mall food court. The benefits of that is that you get your food faster but that doesn’t mean fresher. However, the food is good and the line moves pretty quickly. The place is not overly packed.
It’s work the $ 8 or $ 9 you may spend in there. It’s Chinese food for you can imagine what’s already there.

Used to be called «original number one» Chinese restaurant.

Despite the very low rating they have on Unilocal,anyone within 5 miles of this place will tell you, Number One has the best Chinese-​American food in the area. Them and Chinese spot at Willowbrook mall, but that’s another review.
This place is busy all the time, attracting all sorts of characters! It’s often times is a turnoff for some, but when it’s good food, it’s good. Here’s the scoop: You can call and place an order for take out, you can go up to the counter and place your order, OR if you’re visiting solo, they have a la carte, someone behind the counter who will scoop the food you’re pointing at into a notorious Chinese Styrofoam container. No really sure if this is by the number of entrees or by the pound, but that’s how they roll. And it seems to be working for them too.
I suggest to take out option. I came in here two Saturdays ago and had placed an order for chicken wings, a quart sized shrimp with lobster sauce, and pint of broccoli with brown sauce. «Broccoli with Brown Sauce» (a.k.a. the sauce that usually comes with Beef w/​Broccoli) wasn’t on the menu, but I had asked and they were able to do it. It took about 10 minutes for the order to be done.
A cup of brown rice in substitute for white is $ 1.00. A pint of brown rice is $ 1.50.
