My 87 and 84 year old mother and Aunt had their purses stolen from the trunk of my mother’s car today! Someone was watching them and when they walked to gravesite the people pulled up, opened my mother’s unlocked car door, pulled the trunk release and grabbed the purses. Very bold for the middle of the day.
Bloomfield police said there are many robberies at that cometary yet the cemetery does not have a sign or any notice to tell you to lock your car.
I have always felt safe there but now I will not go by myself. The neighborhood surrounding the cemetery is no longer safe either.

Although the property is located near a pretty busy roadway, the only sounds I hear whenever I go to Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery has been the sweet the sound of silence (and a couple of birds). One of the larger cemeteries in the Greater Hartford Area, the grounds and roadways are well maintained all year long. The natural beauty of Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery helps me to find silence, solace and reflection whenever I visit.
