I recently had my vintage Schwinn tandem bicycle refurbished and tuned up at Bloomfield Bike Shop and can’t speak highly enough about the extraordinary customer service and expert work. From my first email with Kevin, to the personal attention from Mike the owner, and the excellent finished product, WOW! I had to drive almost two hours each way to their shop and it was worth every minute. My bike looks excellent and I even received compliments on the way home from people next to me in stop and go traffic on the highway. Anybody that needs a bike refurbished or repaired should definitely consider Bloomfield Bike! Thanks again Kevin and Mike, you’re the best! ag

Just noticed this review ended up in the wrong place??? It should be listed under Bloomfield Bicycle and Repair, 38 Tunxis Ave., Bloomfield, Ct. My wife was looking for an ebike with a short frame that she could ride. Most ebikes are designed for persons 5’2 and over. We scheduled an appointment with Kevin and the next day we took the two hour drive to the store. It was Saturday and the store was pretty busy but Kevin came right over and welcomed us, as did Rachel and Mike, the owners. Kevin spent at least two hours showing us three bikes and allowing us to try them out. My wife chose an Izip Vibe+. While Kevin was prepping the bike we went for lunch. Upon our return, the bike was ready and Kevin helped load it onto our rack for the trip home. He had to order in the optional throttle and it was mailed to us within a week. I would not hesitate to recommend Bloomfield Bicycle to anyone looking for an ebike, or any other bike for that matter. We were treated professionally, friendly and with the utmost courtesy by everyone we spoke to there. By the way, my wife loves the bike.

Thank you, Bloomfield Bicycle & Repair! My 7-year-old son and I are very happy with our new bicycles. The service(especially Rachel) and selection are excellent, and both of us were able to find the right bicycle to meet each of our ‘novice’ needs. The shop also appears to price its inventory very competitively. I look forward to bringing my wife into the shop soon, along with my 4-year-old when he is ready for his«big-boy» bike! Thanks again, Bloomfield Bicycle & Repair… see you on the Rail Trail!

Went in for a spoke replacement. Got charged for ‘shop supplies’. Of course, there are no shop supplies necessary for a spoke replacement. No sprays, no lubricants, no disposal, nothing. I hate that. The selection of bikes and accessories is average for a small shop and the prices are not exceptional either way. Higher than online but available today, if you need them.

I recently bought a bike from this shop. The day I went in the shop was bustling with customers. Upon my entrance I received a friendly hello from the staff. Rachael showed me a couple different bikes and let me test ride them in the back. Even though the shop was busy I was treated like I was the only customer. Since my purchase I have been on my bike everyday. 5 stars for customer service! 5 stars for a great bike!

This is one of the worst experiences that I’ve had in a decade. Do not buy an E-bike from this store. I talked to Mike Wolf, the owner of Bloomfield bike and repair about purchasing an E-Bike from his shop. He touted his 53 years in business, stellar reputation, and his customer-centric business philosophy. The guy was a complete hypocrite and when there was a problem with my purchase he was nowhere to be found. I believe this guy’s sincerity and never tried the bike before making the 5-hour trip home. Within two days, the bike started exhibiting significant electrical problems and Bloomfield bikes technicians had no idea what was wrong and referred me to the manufacturer. I paid $ 1800 for a bike that looked used with scratches on the frame and the battery was apparently removed several times from the chassis. I never received a call from the manufacturer until I spent two hours on hold and finally got a hold of their receptionist who told me there technical support would call me back within the next couple of hours. I got a call several hours later from Currietech support and they proceeded to have me check all the electrical connections on the bike. I told him the charger had both red and yellow lights and felt the charger was exhibiting an error condition. I was amazed that the gentleman had no idea if that was a normal condition or not. I gave him time to look at his technical documentation and he still didn’t know if the unit was charging correctly. I did speak to the regional sales representative for CurrierTech and he was extremely helpful and more than willing to provide the customer service that was absent from Bloomfield bike and repair. I never received one call from Mike Wolf, the owner of Bloomfield bike regarding this fiasco. I told one of his staff that I was going to stop payment on the transaction until this was resolved and mysteriously Mike Wolf was available to discuss the situation. Mike told me that he was insulted that I would stop payment and thought that was a lack of trust on my part. I immediately reminded him that he was absent during this whole process and his credibility was significantly diminished in my eyes. The classic cliché comes to mind that actions speak louder than words. Mike agreed to take the bike back and suggested I leave my home at 5 o’clock to arrive at his store at around 10:30 which would give him enough time to help me select another bike to replace the defective one. Mike made it clear his weekends are very busy and the following week was heavily booked. I left my house on Friday at 5 o’clock in the morning and arrived at Bloomfield Bike after 10 o’clock. I started to tell one of his bike technicians what trouble shooting was done with the CurrieTech support technician. This guy looked at me with an incredulous look on his face and said he was not interested in what we checked and he would take care of it from here. I was shocked with his lack of interest in the diagnostics that were done and thought it was asinine that he would essentially start from scratch. Mike Wolf tells me after driving five hours that I should purchase a bike locally. I found Mike Wolf’s behavior reprehensible considering he had no issue selling me the bike in the first place and obviously had no regard for my time whatsoever. I was looking at a five-hour trip home and did not accomplish anything and could have returned the bike over the weekend or the following week which was not convenient for Mike Wolf. I spoke to a New York City E-bike specialist(Propelbikes) and shared with my experience with my eFlow E3 Nitro Electric Bike. The guy immediately suggested it was the umbilical cord underneath the battery that was the problem. He was exactly right and it took him 10 minutes to diagnose the issue I think when you go to a business that tries to be everything to everybody that they are not going to be good at anything. I would highly recommend the following dealer for any E-bike purchases in New York and the surrounding counties including Connecticut.

It was convienent for a last minute water bottle purchase; I couldn’t find mine the night before a ride. Guy at the counter didn’t seem too friendly. Incidentally the water bottle leaked on my ride but it was a cheap fix until I can get another one.

I’ve been buying bicycles from BB for many years now and have always been pleased. Everytime I go in the staff greets me warmly, the service is prompt and they have taken time to educate me in ways to self-repair. As an avid rider(I generally go 25 per day) I do find myself in the shop probably more frequently than most, but they repairs that have been necessary are always reasonable and done quickly.

I stopped in to look at Electric Bikes today. We were so impressed we bought one on the spot. Really great service, they set it up and it was ready to go in no time. I have purchased two bikes there now, and had some service done. Very pleased.

Had my two boys’ bikes tuned. They called to authorize a small additional charge($ 5-ish) for a part — to which I agreed. On the other hand when we picked the bikes up there was suddenly an UNauthorized charge(over $ 60 extra) for parts that ‘had to be replaced’. I stupidly let myself be strong-armed by the old man into paying it. Never again. And we had bought bikes there for 15 years.
