Gabe’s is kaput. Now it’s «Sticks and Stones». They were outta food on Sunday. On opening weekend. With an empty bar. Rough start. They do have Surely Furious on tap. Soo that’s a good thing. Right?

Our server, Hayley, was FANTASTIC!(6 stars) We had a large(20) and thirsty party, to which Hayley was very attentive. We started with the Gouda Fries, which were great. 4.5 stars Then we had our burgers. I had the Holy Burger, which is appropriately named. It was truly a five star burger. My wife ordered the Olive Burger, which wss good but not great 4 star burger. Overall, the AWESOME service pushed this rating to 5 stars overall.

The food is above average. With all the extra overhead the pricing tends to be a bit on the high side. Where else though can you eat food and watch people trying to curl? Which is cool for impressing people from out of town but really isn’t much of a draw once you have seen it.

Food not too bad. It appears they hand patty their burgers so points there. But my wife asked if she could have one of their sandwiches made into a wrap. The server disappeared into the kitchen only to return and explain that«it was too busy for the cooks to do this». Whatever Gabes. Hey management, get into your kitchen and remind the staff who they work for!

As far as bar food goes I think they have very good food and 90% of the time I’ve had great service. I think they have a pretty diverse menu for a bar as well.

We played a hockey game at Fogerty(the rink Gabes is attached to) and decided to head up for a bite to eat. Not our first time doing this, and we are pretty well known at Gabes considering we’re there weekly for a game and we often will head up for a beer and chow after the game. However, this particular night was different. This particular night, apparently the staff didn’t feel like working or didn’t care at all, in the least bit. We sit down, pull our tables together as usual and get the menus. however, we’re told the grill is already shut down and it’s just pizza/fried foods for the night. The grill closes at 11. We’re there shortly after 10. I think 10.13’ish. Great. So, after playing a hockey game, we now are relegated to greasy bar pizza or greasier yet deep fried food. Oh joy, I’m sure this will hit the gut nicely. Out the window are the sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and even a salad with grilled chicken. We throw in on some gouda fries and a cheese pizza to try and lessen the gut bomb effect. The food was ok, it’s bar food, so it’s not knock your socks off good or anything — despite their claim of «fresh ingredients» and whatever other catchy slogan they’re throwing out there. Considering the options in Blaine are plentiful and VERY nearby, there is no reason for a place to turn their back on regulars that are going to be there every single week. For that matter, my team and league as a whole are done with this place. We can get bar food anywhere, and grilled bar food at that.

Wasn’t sure what to expect from a rink side restaurant and was very pleasantly surprised. Food was great, service Was FAST and friendly. Ordered the black and blue tenderloin tips along with a burger. Would come here for the food and atmosphere anytime!

IT’s a bar… with bar food… and curling. Ever been to TGIFriday’s? Applebees? Same thing… with a curling rink and hockey rink attached.
