With a name like custard shack I was expecting more of a custard selection. But with only 3 options(vanilla, chocolate or twist) I went with ice cream, of which they offered about 10 choices. Seeing pumpkin pie listed made my decision an easy one. It was seconds after I placed my order that I noticed in smaller print that this was made by Turkey Hill, and other flavors made by Breyers. However the product was tasty and makes me wonder if this flavor is available in supermarkets. I asked if it would be possible to have a small amount of chocolate syrup drizzled on my treat, and was told it would make it a sundae and the price would be $ 2 more? Not the answer I had hoped for. As an ice cream lover I can’t really find a reason to recommend this place, unless you live super close by. 3 meh– Unilocal

This place was a staple of my childhood. Heading to Custard Shack on hot days for cones, sundaes, or frosties was always a treat. The building has changed a bunch over the years, but the ice cream and chocolate jimmies still seem to be just as awesome as always. I had to knock it down a star because the seating just leaves a lot to be desired on a sunny day. They could definitely put in some sort of sun sail and it would be much nicer to sit and enjoy a cone during the day. That doesn’t stop me from wishing this place was still within walking /biking distance. 2,700 miles is a long way to go for ice cream.

The Custard Shack is a great spot to bring the family to get ice cream! The staff is always pleasant and helpful my son loves it here. They have a menu of dessert choices that won’t overwhelm you. I agree with Rich D. the lines can get long, but it’s worth the wait!

Good soft serve ice cream. I love the Banana Split here! Friendly attendants, fun times. Can be huge lines sometimes but that goes to show how they’re doing well for themselves!
