A friend and I have an annual tradition where we do brewery tours when he comes to visit. We’ve done the basics — Harpoon and Sam Adams. We like to stay local so I was scrambling to figure out what we could try on his recent visit. Enter Groupon. And a listing for Crave Mead. Wine made from honey?! WHAT?! Sold! We had another tasting that to do in Boston later in the day, so we had to plan accordingly. In our experience for brewery tours, there’s always a crowd, so we wanted to make sure we showed up early so that we would still be able to make it in town. Our group showed up for the first tour of the day at 12pm. We were the only car in the parking lot. Fine by me because we were able to get a more personalized experience! Ken, the owner, is a delight. Our tasting felt like an informal get together between friends and our group learned a lot about mead, and other random tidbits, like how to get into beekeeping. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re ever in the area. Even if you’re not in the area, it’s worth making the trip. Mead is some pretty amazing stuff. Each person in our party walked away with at least one bottle. And if you get the Groupon, a jar of honey is included with a wine glass per taster. HOWCANYOUGOWRONG?

Five stars for the mead! We got a Groupon for a tasting there. The place is small and basic but the owner is very enthusiastic about his mead and the short presentation was quite informative. My favorite is the«dry mead» which is the original, the lightly spiced gingerbread mead is also yummy. The mead is around 14% but we both walked out feeling a little tipsy. Good times!

You can drive past this place numerous times as it is located almost on the side of a shop but once you find it, you will be pleased! Had a Groupon for a mead(honey wine) tasting, glasses, and a jar of honey. The owner was very passionate about his process and was excited to share the end product with us. I believe they are going to be expanding soon as he just quit his full time job to dedicate his time to making mead. The tasting was great as most of us have been to taste wine and beer, but this product isn’t as easy to find. They mix various flavors with the honey and they are constantly adding new ones. At the time they had some holiday flavors which makes for a great gift. Purchased several bottles which are VERY reasonably priced for the amount you get in a bottle compared to other meads. Worth checking this place out!

Went here on a Groupon. Got 2 wineglass, a jar of honey, & the actual mead tasting for 2. It is a VERY tiny meadery. I mean, blink-as-you-drive-down-the-street-&-you’ll-miss-it small. You’re better off looking for the attached pet shop next door as your landmark. The tour guide is one of the owners. You can tell he takes pride in his work. He told interesting back stories about how each mead came to be & was very candid about the ones he didn’t like. We tasted 5 meads: dry, apple pie, pomegranate & sour cherry, gingerbread, & candy cane. Personally, I liked them all. But I LOVED the gingerbread… YUM! I bought that & the dry one to take home. The tour was extremely short. Their were 6 people & the whole thing was over in about 10 minutes. I thought we were going to be able to actually tour the meadery. But, all we were able to do was stand in the front room while he explained the meads & we tasted. I was a little disappointed by that: I drove 30 minutes to leave in 10. Oh well… at least I got to try some amazing mead & spend s little quality time w/my nephew!

I purchased a Groupon for a tasting here. My husband and I have been exploring mead more and more, while we love visiting breweries, theres nothing quite like a good mead. I forgot the name of the gentleman who did out tasting(i think he is the owner?) but it was fun hearing the stories on each flavor and the process. We ended up buying a bottle of the cranberry orange and I think that will be really nice to enjoy at Christmas time. All of the meads we tried were really good. They had a dry one, a pomegranate sour cherry, gingerbread, candy cane, crème brule, and the cranberry orange. We also tried a mulled mead which was awesome! I would definitely come here with a group of friends to do another tasting.

I’m so happy to see more local meaderies! This one is one of the best! Not only was the tasting wonderful, but the knowledge of the staff and hearing their stories make you feel at home. The apple cobbler was wonderful and the candy cane was perfect for winter! Even their honey is great! If you’ve never had mead, you don’t know what you’re missing! Come check them out and do a tasting! You won’t regret it!

The American Dream lives here! Had a mead tasting and as an amateur mead maker it was a very interesting visit. Great meads and a hospitable owner! Left with a couple of bottles and great memories. We will be back! Best of luck in your new business.

Sean was awesome and gave a great over view of how the mead is made. Very interesting process. We tried the six different kinds and left with three bottles — strawberry, pomegranate/cherry and another that was very unique. Great tasting and opportunity to see someone local break into the market with all local ingredients including the honey itself. Fun time.
