I have been visiting, and purchasing from this bookstore since I was an undergrad. I moved off campus, and started grad school. I live in a nearby neighborhood so I visit the bookstore because it’s convenient, and the staff is usually polite. Today was different. I planned on having my books sold back, and when I was told they weren’t accepting the book anymore I went to a register to ask for an ISBN number to see if I could get my other book sold back(I didn’t have the book with me). The manger of the store immediately stopped me and asked if I needed help, all the while staring at my books. I responded with no. She continued interrogating me, and asking why I was walking back to the area where books are purchased with books in my hand. I explained I was trying to get an ISBN number and they were my old books. She insisted that she hold my books at the register, or put them in my purse. After leaving the bookstore I called her back to explain the situation because I felt uncomfortable as if she were insinuating I was trying to steal. All in all she had a terrible attitude and when apologizing she continued to tell me what I was doing wrong instead of letting an apology be an apology. She continued to speak over me, and ask what my purpose for calling her was. I just wanted clarity and to be spoken to like I was a child was uncalled for. I will never spend another dime at this store.
