Busy cute coffe place. Standard coffee offerings and ice cream and sandwiches. Food is good. The place hustles and bustles with energy and conversation. Fun photography on the wall that can be purchased. Cozy place.

Let me tell you about my experience here. Cool, little, hip place right in the downtown area of Virginia Tech. It had awesome Wi-Fi, lots of tables and places to sit. I was freezing, coming from San Diego weather, needed to study and I was exhausted and jet-lagged from a red-eye. This was going to have to cut it because I needed caffeine and had some serious catching up to do for my upcoming exams. Seemed like everyone else in Blacksburg area was under the same circumstance, it was packed everywhere I went. I settled in and ordered a Mexican Mocha, waited a little bit for the temperature to decrease and took the biggest gulp I could muster. THEN it took all of my strength to not spit it back out over my iPad and O-Chem notes. Why do you ask? It tasted like pure chili powder had hit the back of my throat and nose, slowly destroying the inner lining of both– I was honestly concerned that I was bleeding. Ok, I’m being a little bit over dramatic, but can you imagine? The worst drink I’ve ever taken 1 sip of before. I was expecting something along the lines of a chocolate horchata because that’s west coast standards. It is NOT that way here. Proceed at your own risk and do not order a «mexican» mocha, hot chocolate or anything unless you love exceptionally spicy hot drinks.

I ordered a cinnamon latte and was overwhelmed by the sweetness. I watched the staff make a latte and saw the problem. They don’t use pumps in there syrup and put about 5 times the amount needed. Also, the milk is over steamed. The staff definitely could use proper barista training. On a better note their house blend was nice.

I love Mill Mountain. Just got back from the Pacific Northwest I couldn’t find a cup of coffee that was better than Mill Mountain. I think service there is good even during the peak times. Great espresso more for the buck than anywhere else. The food is always fresh and wholesome. It’s worth the few minutes it takes to make it from scratch. A real value. They roast their beans on site. It doesn’t get any fresher than that. I LOVEMILLMOUNTAIN.

Decent coffee. Even better roasted whole beans. Great place to buy whole beans for the coffee aficionado. They keep a record of when the beans were roasted behind the counter. Just need to ask.

Let’s face it, if you’re looking for good coffee because you are a caffeine addict(such as myself) look no further than Mill Mountain. I usually order an iced coffee which is probably the size of a starbucks venti for less than $ 3. The atmosphere is very hippie/this is where all the hippies in Blacksburg hang out — nothing wrong with that. Bottom line, if you want good coffee, go here.

So, so painful. Every time I come here, I end up waiting 30 minutes for a coffee and sandwich. The food is average at best and expensive. For example, the eggs in the breakfast sandwiches are microwaved and the bagels are similar to Kroger. The pastries have been either dried out or wet. I guess I’m finally going to stop coming here.

Very good coffee. Staff is generally nice. Prices are decent. OK baked goods, but not much selection. A good spot for lunch.

I used to be fan of this coffee house when I was living in Blackburg. Going here was little extra walk because the BT bus doesn’t stop here but it was worth it. Its a local coffee shop and it was my favorite spot for studying. The ambiance was cozy and calm. i used to get coffee and cake and just sit there for hours and you can get free refill on brewed coffee. The staff was very friendly and the aroma of coffee was divine. My personal favorite is Caramel Ice latte and it was so refreshing especially during hot summer days.

Love this place! I used to always go to Starbucks because of convenience, but going to mill mountain instead is worth the extra walk for me. There’s plenty of seating with a very friendly staff. The coffee is delicious and the price is just right. Today I tried the BLT, it was a traditional bacon, lettuce and tomato which was exactly what I expected. And it came with a healthy serving of chips and a pickle. The environment is super cozy and I will definitely be back.

I’ve purchased more than a hundred pounds of coffee from mill mountain over the past 15 years. The people who say the coffee is over roasted here … maybe you were unlucky or maybe you just prefer City+ roasts(just at first crack). I prefer City+ for some coffee, which is why I often roast my own coffee(Freshroast air popper). I’m looking at some Guatemalan I got last week from MM … A Vienna roast. This is quite typical for MM in my experience, although some origins seem less roasted and of course French and Expresso would be more. A Vienna is not over roasting this coffee and is typical of roasts here in my experience. Some people would say Ch Latour makes bad wine because it is too tannic(my Beaujolais is so much«better» in that regard”), but they are just different wines. In 15 years I’ve never had what I would describe as over roasted coffee here. Let me touch on tea for a bit. Most of the tea here is excellent, but the Oolong is not a good tea. They should get some WuYe, Baozhong, DongDing or Ali Shan Oolong teas and name them as such. «Oolong» is a broad palette of tea and just having one, and a poor one at that, is not a good representation of Oolong tea. The Oolong at MM is over fermented and over panned and is not picked through properly. The red(black) and green teas are fine and I particularly like the plum flavored tea for a change of pace. To be fair, this is a coffee shop not a tea shop, but I drink a fair amount of tea and have high standards for tea(Teavana is not a good tea shop, in my opinion, you need to go to a Chinatown to get a good tea shop). I usually have 8 or more different Oolong teas at any one time(so I order from China or Taiwan often). I never eat here but I do enjoy their coffee and tea often. In my opinion, this is far, far better than other coffee shops in BB.

Such a cute, charming little coffee shop. Upon entering you are greeted with a delightful coffee aroma in the air. You’ll likely see students and locals hanging out on their laptops, or chatting quietly. The ambiance is cozy, and you’ll be able to grab yourself a table to sit down and enjoy your coffee. The coffee is great! I loved the white chocolate mocha, and frankly, I couldn’t get enough!

The coffee tasted as though the beans had been burned and still used in the grind. We had a couple different blends and neither was very tasty. The hot chocolate was okay but following the directions on the back of a Hershey’s cocoa box comes up with better. Thankfully we were just stopping for a late-night spot of caffeine for the drive home and weren’t really looking for anything inspired, otherwise we’d have been quite disappointed.

Decent place to study(important feature in a college town…). Decent coffee, average pastries/food. Pleasant service, nice ambiance. I am not knowledgeable enough about coffee in regards to bean sourcing/roasting/etc. etc., so I can’t really comment on their«process» or anything, but I do enjoy Mill Mountain, and it’s probably one of the best cafes in Blacksburg. Bollo’s is a bit better in my book, as their pastries are out-of-this-world-amazing, but there’s more open space in Mill Mountain… hmmmm.

Whenever I was little, I took it as a sign that I was an adult when I started drinking coffee. Like, it was that, and grocery shopping by myself and having a dog. I can barely grocery shop, and I don’t have a dog yet, but I love me some coffee. Someone asked me the other day if I was a coffee snob. I can really truly say that I’m not a snob when it comes to anything. 7 – 11 coffee? Ok! Starbucks? Give it to me! Sonic coffee? Yep. and I’ll have another. I also listen to Taylor Swift and watch the Kardashians religiously. I like what I like because I like it, and I don’t apologize. I’ve found this this the BEST way to live ya life. But back to the coffee. This coffee though. I was recently in Blacksburg for a work conference. I flew in the day before, and I had a full morning to do whatever I wanted. I went for a run around campus, and when I was finished, I noticed that there was a cute little coffee shop open so I decided to stop in. I was greeted warmly, and I ordered a cup of the house brew(Mill Mountain Blend) and sat at the coffee bar to eat some breakfast(ordered a bagel sandwich that left much to be desired — not a lot of flavor). But the coffee was great. Roasted in house, there was a large coffee roasted on display for the shop to see. I got the impression I stumbled onto something special. As I sat at the bar and instagrammed, I sipped my brew(with just a little cream) and enjoyed the endorphins from my run. I got another coffee to go,(for $ 1!) and was on my way back to the hotel(about a half a mile away). On my way out at the end of the week, I picked up a bag of Mill Mountain blend to bring back to Oklahoma. Currently I’m still enjoying, but when I’m finished I may have to walk back to Blacksburg to get some more.

Décor was nice. Ambience spectacular. Everything else was a disappointment. Maybe it is only this location. I had questions about their espresso blend but I think the barista thought it was an assault or blasphemy. It was a simple question, «is your espresso blend single origin? Where do you folks get your beans?» The website claims that the baristas are passionate about coffee then they should love to talk about coffee. I don’t mind being taught a thing or two. But an indifference and don’t-waste-my-time attitude is far from the philosophy they claim to have. The doppio I ordered was over-extracted and served in a regular coffee mug. This would be no problem but I quote the website«That’s why we spend so much time perfecting our art — so that you can enjoy visually appealing as well as tasty and consistent drinks, day in and day out.»
