Kelly’s Steak House

My girlfriend and I went to Kelly’s this past Saturday night. The first issue was that the building was so cold that many diners were wearing coats while trying to eat their dinner. We complained to the waitress who did nothing about it. When our soup arrived it was barely above room temperature and we had to send it back twice to get it to an acceptable temperature. We then proceeded to wait over an hour and 15 minutes for our steaks to arrive even though the restaurant was less than half full at the time. I ordered my steak cooked medium and it arrived rare. I sent the steak back and they brought it back to me in five minutes and it had only gone from rare to medium rare. I guess the kitchen does not have a meat thermometer. The center of the steak was not even warm. When I finally tasted the steak it had absolutely no flavor or seasoning what so ever. I’ve been many nice steakhouses but this is one that I will never darken their door again. After all of our issues no heat the soup not hot waiting an unacceptable amount of time for dinner and then to have the entrée not cook properly the waitress offered to comp my glass of iced tea!

It’s hard to believe no one has reviewed this gem in Blacksburg. I have been eating here for over 30 years, and it is one of the best places to get a steak anywhere. #1 Big Texan in Amarillo

Big Texan, too far away. Ruths Chris, EXPENSIVE. Kelly’s is just right. Very close and affordable. If you feel like having a steak, give it a try.
