Cash only, and can only serve 4 beers on a flight. Huge brewery that doesn’t stand by the«craft beer» mentality.

Pisgah is no longer the cutting edge brewery everyone wants to see and be seen at, but it still turns out some drinkable beer. I like to get here every few months to see what’s new. Besides 10 or so house brews they usually have 6 – 8 guest taps. In warm weather they have outdoor music and often a food truck. Be aware that they are cash-only, though they do have an ATM near the entrance. There’s outdoor seating and plenty of room to move around inside. It’s worth a visit when touring area breweries.

Good beer. There was a «food truck» there that night. Open space outside to sit. Dog friendly. Stage for a band.

Hands down one of my favorite brewery’s to visit while in the WNC area. Love the rustic look at atmosphere here. If you are lucky sometime they have food trucks hook up in the back to serve up some great local food truck food. I recommend getting a flight of beers, it will allow you to choose 4 beers of your choice. Also, be sure to check ahead and see if any bands are playing, sometimes they have a cover. Now go, kick back and enjoy some good local brews.

A great selection of fun beers Ina warehouse type setting which looks like it’s taken a snap shot it if a 90’s garage band practice room. They are friendly and didn’t mind in the least that my two year old danced in the corner to the music while we sat nearby for a flight of tastings. In general this place is a winner, fun and delicious. Just remember it’s cash only with an atm out front.

Good beers. Was there on a Sunday, but I hear the days when the live music events happen can be a great fun time. Definitely will return. Not an over the top brewery like Sierra Nevada. More in the lines of Oscar Blues, which I like much better for a smaller brewer. Definitely will return. Oh, it’s cash only… They should get with the times and accept credit.

Music venue with big house beer selection and guest taps. Really interesting space, purple curtains, black walls, mirror tap list with white writing, music stage. Sort of looks like a music venue that happens to have a huge tap list. Selection was extensive with tops of house beers and some interesting guest beers like Burial’s Skillet Donut Stout, which was one of the best things available. Tasters available, prices were standard. Got to try some special edition stuff like Chocolatized Vortex II. Would probably come here for a concert as otherwise the ambiance might be a bit awkward with all the empty space. It was a bit surreal.

Pisgah has been around for over ten years and their array of beers is why. Over the past two years they have refurbished their taproom to a comfortable spot to meet friends after work, listen to a bluegrass band, or let the kids play in the creek in their sprawling lawn. Pisgah Brewery is just west of Black Mountain. So plan accordingly if you are headed to Asheville. There aren’t as many taxi services willing to pick you and Über drivers just don’t come that far out.

We made a special trip to come here after trying some of their beer at NC brewers fest in charlotte. Which really, you’d have yo make a point to get here since it is in the middle of nowhere. Truly a hidden gem though, once you find your way to the taproom, you are transported to hippie paradise. Awesome outdoor beer garden, great music and of course some just solid, good beer. Like every brewery in w. NC you have some questionable characters lingering around but that contributes to the overall experience. You can get flights but bf and I opted for a porter and ESB, both of which were excellent. So good we had to go for our standard share beer and went with the IPA. All were very good and not too hoppy but my favorite was the ESB. If you’re in the Asheville area and are looking to get your hippie funk on, definately add pisgah to your itinerary!

This was a really fun place to visit while we were in Black Mountain. My husband and I went there to see old Crow medicine show in devil makes three. The beer selection was great and the service was also fantastic. The outdoor stage is perfect for spring and summer weather. They had plenty of food trucks and it was easy to get to the bathroom. Staff was really nice and attentive to the concert goers. I would like to see more shows there in the future.

What an awesome outdoor venue! The stage is gorgeous, the sound system is perfect, and the brewery itself is great. The taproom is wide open, plenty of space and seating. For the concert we saw, there was beer available outside near the stage as well as several food vendors. Not sure if this is something they do for every event, but it was certainly welcome! I can’t wait to attend more events here.

My husband and I received a Brews Cruise as a gift for our wedding and one of the stops was at Pisgah. It was very fun and the beer was delicious. My husband always wants to stop now when we are in the area!

Got there right after they opened this past Wednesday. It’s at the back of an industrial park and the sign is definitely small and subdued. Once you get there and walk through to the bar, it is impressive. The tasting room is the back end of the warehouse, open air and has a huge stage. At the back of the property is a field with a much larger stage for outdoor summer concerts. The taps are featured with their own beer, but they do carry a few select other beers. Had a great time chatting with the bartender as she told me about their different beers and their characteristics. You could tell she was really proud of their products and very knowledgable. My flight consisted of the Pisgah Pale(their flagship beer), Nitro Stout, Porter and Bastogne Gold(a Belgian Style). All of them were good. The stout was smoky with coffee notes. The Porter had a similar profile but much creamier and without an edge. The Pisgah Pale was so crisp, refreshing and drinkable. I could see how you could build a beer empire on that one. I really could drink it all day long. Set me up in a chaise lounge and just hook a tube in my mouth. Great place to spend an afternoon, or two, or three… .

Too Long; Won’t Read: Go for the good local beer or maybe an awesome concert, or because you love Black Mountain/Swannanoa/Asheville and want to support the craft brew scene. Don’t go for ambience. It’s literally a converted warehouse(which I thought was cool). Also, bring cash(though there is an ATM on-site. Somewhere). *** G. and I stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon right after opening at 4pm — they were prepping for a 6pm(Free!) concert that we unfortunately couldn’t stick around for, but the staff was as personable as their busy-ness allowed. We tried a flight of 4 Pisgah beers — it’s nice to know that they have other local brews on tap, but while we were there, those tap lines were being serviced, so I can’t speak to that half of the bar. There’s a super-handy customer-use tap for filtered water to the right of the bar, too, which we both loved. As far as the beers go, we both loved the Greybeard IPA, but I fell in love with the Valdez coffee stout — intense coffee flavor that kicked the beer into a new dimension of delicious. Highlights: Great beer brewed on-site Taps for other local breweries Customers accessible water tap Indoor and outdoor stages hosting tons of great concerts Lowlights: I don’t have a fair opinion, since we showed up right before opening and were 2 of 5 customers present.

Came here with the hubby last night and listened to a band and had a beer. Place was clean and friendly. Yes, it us in a warehouse and was open to the outside. No food not even a lime for ur beer. But food trucks r welcome on band nights. We were sorry we ate before we came cause the d.o.g.s. truck was there and the food looked awesome. Cash only.

Well what can I say I love a place where you can drink a nice pale ale around lunch time. All the beers we had were top notch and very tasty. Bought a six pack to go for a cookout.

This was my last stop on a recent tour of breweries in the Asheville area. Find the place can be a little difficult. My GPS took me in one end of a business park but I never found the brewery on that side. I made my way around and there’s another entrance with a Pisgah sign. You go in, you go down a couple of steps and then the tasting room is a couple of feet on your left. The room is huge and the bar is off to the left a little. There’s a stage along the same wall that you came in on and as I found out here, they often have concerts and big events. Unfortunately, there was a concert the previous night of when I arrived and they ran out of many of the beers. So my choices were slim. But Pisgah has some interesting choices including a Red Devil Raspberry beer which wasn’t as sweet as you’d expect. I have lucky to get the last pour of the IPA which was also decent. Hopefully I can make it back here soon when their beers are all on tap. One note. They only accept cash here. But there is an ATM on site.

After a morning hike at Chimney Rock and a lunch stop in Black Mountain, the fella and I decided to hit Pisgah. I wish we’d read the reviews first to know we were in the right place because we GPSed it(which was 100% accurate), and then sat in the gravel parking lot of the brewery debating whether we were in the right spot. Had I read all the reviews, I would’ve known it was in an industrial park, it has a mural on the side, and it feels like you’re walking into a trailer park office when you open the door! However, that door opens up into a big ol’ warehouse, and you walk through another door into the outside bar/tasting area. I love that it’s in a warehouse with doors that raise or lower depending on the temperature. The space itself is open and low-key, and you either grab a seat at the bar or a seat on a picnic table outside, so we went with bar. **Worth noting — they only take cash and don’t run tabs. There was a stage for bands, but we just had awesome music from Jack Johnson, G. Love, Ben Harper, etc. when we were there. About 75% of the taps were Pisgah beers, and the rest were others… I was excited to see a Pisgah spiced cider on tap along with Original Sin, but I was pretty full from lunch and let the fella do all the drinking. He had a barleywine that he couldn’t stop raving about being way better than he thought it would be, and he tried a Belgian triple that was really good. The only reason I stopped at giving it 5 stars was because a group came in with about 37 kids, and I really hate having kids at a bar, plus the bartenders were a little spotty. They seemed to know a couple of people in one of the groups at the other end of the bar and spent most of their time talking to them, which made it a little tricky for the fella to get that second beer.
