Super friendly service at the front desk very welcome and they even overextended themselves to accommodate additional request. This hotel has easy access on and off the freeway with multiple restaurants and stores close by.

Bad, bad, BAD! I used to think Hamptons were decent places to stay, but I haven’t found this to be true lately. Everything went fine enough with this visit through the night, but when I woke up to take a shower, there was no hot water. I called down to see why and they said they were investigating. I finally gave up and just didn’t take a shower that morning. At check out, I requested that they reduce the price of the room since I wasn’t able to take a shower. She told me that she couldn’t do anything about it, but I could wait for the manager. When’s the manager getting in? Who knows!?! Sure. I’ll wait around for a manager to show up to work at whatever time the manager decides to show up. That makes sense. Offer to have her call me? No, of course not. I did get a call from the hotel when I was an hour to an hour and a half away. Apparently I left my glasses in the room. I definitely appreciate that they were honest about this, but that’s a pretty base level of expectations. I’m pretty certain I left them there because my routine was off from not being able to shower(not like I had ever done it before), but I’m certainly not saying I blame them for that. I asked them to mail them to a hotel I was staying at four nights later and they agreed, though it was one of the most painful experiences ever trying to talk slowly enough for them to write down the information to mail them out. When I got to the hotel they were to be sent to, they hadn’t arrived. I knew this was a possibility, but I chose that hotel because I would be around about a week later to check again. I called the hotel to make sure they had been sent, though, to see if there was any way to confirm they had been mailed. She told me that there wasn’t. I didn’t need a confirmation number, just some verbal confirmation that they were mailed out on so-and-so date. Nope. Can’t help me. The glasses were there when I got back, but I looked at the date they were mailed and it was a FULLWEEK after I checked out of this Hampton. In fact, they put on the mailing address my name with«arriving 5÷23÷2015,» but mailed the glasses on 5÷26÷2015. Did no one think anything of that to maybe call me and see if I wanted them sent elsewhere? No. Of course not. I hadn’t told them I would be back through the area to check again. The hotel itself is fine, but it needs a complete clean sweep of its staff. Go stay somewhere else. Oh, and I called Hampton to evoke their 100% satisfaction guarantee. Your money back if you aren’t 100% satisfied for ANY reason. Nope. They’re sending me a free night, but none of my money back. This chain is just sad now.

We’re in North Dakota now, and my idea was to spend the night maybe in a log cabin house? We wanted to try out a Bed & Breakfast, but there’s only one KAY’S, and she told me so, but they have no room for us tonight! Our next idea was to stay in another hotel, and the 1st one that comes up on our GPS, closest to where we were, was Hampton. We can rely on them to give us good for the money, with good CS, and we told her which part of the hotel and which level floor we wanted. So far, so good! Hey, there’s no ‘scary’ flushing toilet here, we’re back to normal again! (There was an empty water bottle by the garbage, under the table on the floor, when I sat down to my desk). In the bathroom, they closed down 2 electrical outlets, so I can only use 1 to re-charge my Waterpik. My husband is already asleep, and I didn’t want to turn on the lights to wake him up, so I can’t use the other plugs in the room.

The hotel was nice, clean and our room was ready for an early check in. When we arrived after being in a car for 7 hours we wanted to shower. They had two towels in the bathroom so when we left we asked they deliver more for the morning. They have great towel racks in the bathroom but when we returned that night the towels were just dropped on the floor. Certainly not where I’d expect to find them. One staff member wasn’t overly helpful when we asked for directions to a park for a picnic. She just told us, «I dunno. Here’s a map.» The breakfast is free for a reason but I didn’t expect much considering the hotel does not have a restaurant/bar attached.

Room was clean and staff was friendly enough. Standard Hampton Inn with 2 exceptions.(1) I am a Diamond member who stays with Hilton Brands more nights per year than I care to count. I normally get a higher, corner floor. Here, I was offered a room on the first floor, next to the maintenance closet(somewhat noisy in AM). When I asked to change floors, the lady sighed and make it seem like it was going to be some huge ordeal, despite the fact that she indicated there were plenty of rooms on the 4th floor. I told her that the first floor would be fine after she made such a big deal about it.(2) I forgot my toothbrush and asked if they had a toothbrush and toothpaste. They had the toothbrush but no paste. The lady have me mouthwash and said that would be good enough… gross.

This review is for the Schafer St Hampton Inn and Suites. I stayed here this past weekend and must say the service from the front of house staff was absolutely first rate. Margo was very helpful and gracious. She helped me in every way possible making changes to my reservation. Then, when we came in late on Friday night and had difficulty finding a parking spot, the gentleman at the front desk offered to move his car for us to have his spot. Wow, that’s kind hearted! When I checked out on Sunday the young lady at the desk was fully up to date and handled my questions fully and politely, all without a hitch. I want to give a big thanks to this special staff for making us feel welcome and well cared for while traveling. Your staff is a true asset to the community.
