On way to Yosemite and we wanted some breakfast before our hike. Glad we stopped here! Service was amazing and food was made fresh and quickly! Karen was funny and super attentive! If we ever visit bishop again I will definitely come again!

Not worth the wait for the mediocre food and service. Will never go back. I think this is a place people go to out of tradition not taste.

Do not get breakfast ! God awful… Ham and cheese omelet was terrible. That said the chicken fried steak was so tough to the point you could not chew it. And don’t get me started on the biscuit and tasteless lumpy gravy.

Was not planning to have breakfast at any restaurant cause breakfast is provided at our hotel. The breakfast at our hotel was so bad the first day that we decided to go out the next morning. My friend from Bishop highly recommended Jack’s Restaurant & Bakery. Got to admit that I am happy that he recommended this restaurant because we were not disappointed! Service was terrific, and the food came out in good time. Wifey was pleased with her order. Bacon, hash browns, eggs, and a Blueberry muffin. She thought the bacon was too salty, but still good. Blueberry Muffin was very very good! We both agreed that it was one of the best blueberry muffins ever! French Toast, bacon, and eggs for myself. The French toast was yummy! Paired well with the eggs and bacon. Unlike my wife, I thought the bacon was extremely delicious! As my friend mentioned to me, their bacon is smokey goodness!!! Don’t know how the rest of their menu is, but I was Impressed with our delicious breakfast! I am a fan! Will be one of my food destinations on future trips to Bishop!

On our way from in from Corona Ca we decided to stop here for a early morning breakfast. There was about 12 of us everyone had something different the food was OK nothing to be excited about I felt it lacked some flavor. The service was excellent always right over you making sure our coffee cups were topped off. Overall the food gets 6⁄10 Service 10⁄10

Great restaurant. I love the appearance(style, decorations) and the food is super high quality. We were assisted by Ryan — and he was friendly, kinda d, and efficient. I have been here while they were super busy, but stopped by today for a late lunch and it was relaxing. Treat yourself, stop here and enjoy a great meal.

Ate here for lunch and dinner only. Children’s food was not very good, the corn dog was greasy, and the macaroni and cheese was similar to a box variety, and served as just a bowl of mac and cheese. Sandwich was acceptable, the bread was great, and the meat seemed fresh. One of my party’s Chili Cheseburger arrived without cheese, and looked awful, presentation was actually not pleasant to look at. Another dinner the salad was basically iceburg with a little tomato and carrot, not very exciting or diverse at all. Again, sandwiches were OK. Meals seem a little pricey: Corndog, half sandwich and fries, 2 iced teas and a chocolate milk set me back over $ 20. Servers have always been pleasant, and location is downtown.

We stayed at a motel just a block away and were told this was a good place to eat. It was terrible. A restaurant should not be serving frozen foods. My breakfast consisted of frozen, cold, freezer burnt tasteless sausage, eggs, hash browns, and english muffin. The sausage was the grossest thing ever ! YUK. The eggs were not cooked to order(Over medium), they were barely over easy. The english muffins were only half toasted as if the toaster only worked on one side. the hash browns were very tasty. I don’t think the cook was very good. You need to replace this employee. The waitress that helped us was very friendly and we enjoyed her a lot. She is a keeper. I will not return here to eat again.

Had a great meal here a few years ago with the family. Planned a trip to Mammoth, and decided to stay in bishop partly because of Jacks. We drove up from san diego and got there about 8:20 pm. Door has open daily until 9 pm Painted on door. Door was locked. Staff tried to ignore me, my family out in cold. After 5 minutes, i pointed to painted door and my watch. Finally a guy came out other door to say that there was not enough business to stay open. If the owner was there, shame on them.

Had the spaghetti and meatballs which was delicious. Their clam chowder, which unfortunately they don’t serve every night, is way better than many seafood restaurants I’ve been to. And to top it off their dinner rolls are the best I’ve ever had!

Gone Wayyyyy Down Hill. This used to be my ‘go to’ place for a great meal, not only passing through as a visitor but when I actually lived in Bishop for a couple years. Sadly, the quality of the food has sunken to a mediocre level, at best. Burned bacon, soggy hash browns… couldn’t even eat the gravy for the biscuit it was so bad — having un-mixed flower lumps floating in it. Waitress did nothing to correct… just a flippant ‘oh my’ as she cleared the plates of our uneaten meal. Hope your listening Jacks… you can only hold onto the reputation if you hold to the standards of what you were to get it.

Stopped by here for breakfast on the way to Mammoth. I got the ½ lb Corn Beef Hash with scrambled eggs and wheat toast. It was good but nothing that special for the $ 11 I paid. This place does have fast service, well at least for our party of 15 it didn’t take that long. Just a normal diner and I’ll probably be back whenever I go back in town

First off let me say this was my favorite place to eat in town three years ago before I moved to Las Vegas. I came back to visit my mom for the week and could not wait to go to Jack’s for the best biscuits and gravy breakfast that I had ever had. I even saw my favorite server who always took such good care of me when I would stop in after working the night shift at the Holiday Inn. So it breaks my heart to have to write this review. We sat down and I was facing the doorway to the kitchen and back, my mother facing the front of the house. Our server came up took our drink order two iced teas one extra lemon. First off we got our teas and took 5 minutes to find some lemon, I’m guessing no one had prepped enough, being it’s fathers day and it lunch time. My mother ordered her biscuits and gravy, I ordered bacon breakfast combo, bacon crispy eggs over hard with biscuits and gravy. Meal comes two eggs hash browns and choice of toast, muffin or biscuits and gravy. What I saw was not good. I watched several servers come out of the back chewing food. Then the chubby blonde Mexican comes out with a piece of food in her hand and pops it in her mouth right as she reached our table! A few minutes later she walked from the back to behind the drink station with what appeared to be a glass bottle possibly maple syrup and licking her fingers on both hands!!! I couldn’t believe it!!! Disgusting!!! Then our biscuits and gravy come sooo good!!! I looked and saw that the gravy was stored right in the hallway to the kitchen, no big deal until you see it’s not covered and watching a woman clean around and change out the gravy pot for a fresh one and then leave the dirty cloth right next to the fresh uncovered gravy pot. By this time I have sent my food back because my bacon was really limpy and the eggs were over easy. Flagged down the server told her I how I ordered my eggs over hard and bacon crispy. She said ok and took the food back. Not even an apology. Which is sad because it appears she is friends with my mom. Food came back bacon burnt hash browns so hard you barely have edible spots and cut into the eggs in front of server and they were now over medium. The food came back again eggs burnt I barely ate anything watched another server with long blonde hair in a ponytail chomping on gum like a cow that I could see the back of her open mouth. Our server came back and said her shift was over and that he needs us to pay now. That is rude and unexceptionable. Then she came back and asked if I like the food since it was all on my plate pretty much. I said no. Then she said oh no I can’t refund it because you paid do you want dessert? I said no and she kept insisting, frankly putting anything else in my mouth from my once favorite place to eat in Bishop sounded awful. I told my mom to get what she wanted. We left and my mom said the place has really gone down hill. I don’t expect 5 star service and modern décor. I expect a simple egg and bacon order to be correct. I expect my order to be edible. I expect to have faith my server is up to health code standards not shoving food in their mouths and licking their fingers on the floor. I left heart broken and devastated about this place. If you decide to go here the biscuits and gravy still taste awesome.

Monday, February 16, 2014 Yep, I’m traveling through Bishop on a holiday weekend, and, surprisingly, hunger happens. We’ve been on the road since we left Palm Desert, and it’s time to eat. Sure, I could consider Schatz, and Raymond’s is closed now. It’s too early for the Burger Barn, and I’m in the mood for pancakes, and a local place. All of these factors point to Jack’s, and I was not disappointed. It’s an efficient, organized, and effective coffee shop. We arrive, are immediately seated, and beverages are on the way. It’s also important to note that a pitcher of water is already on the table, and I like water. Both the meals that we ordered were prepared promptly and, this is significant, the eggs are cooked wonderfully. My pancake tasted great, and my wife’s cinnamon French toast looked fantastic. All in all, we’ll be back and it’s great to be able to consider Jack’s when I’m driving through Bishop. If you are in the mood for a good breakfast served in timely fashion, Jack’s is worthy of some consideration.
