Thank you for carrying my book Gifts of Sisterhood over the years and for your honesty and generosity in returning the books that didn’t sell and sending me a final check here in Scottsdale now that you are closing the store I thank you — your honesty and integrity is impressive in this day and age and I commend you — God bless you and good luck in whatever you are doing in this next phase of your life

For a book addict like myself, this store is paradise. Why? Great prices(ie. paperbacks for $ 1.00-$ 2.00, old literary journals for $ 0.50) and a wide selection, including a section for books by local authors/poets/regional interest. I could spend hours in this store!

I had originally rated this place 4 stars. I called one night and Joan let me in even after they were closed. I bought some overpriced used DVD’s bc she told me she would buy them back from 60% assuming there were no scratches, etc. I purchased appx. 10DVD’s over the course of two months, totally around $ 75. When I took them back to receive my 60% back the owner wasn’t in so I had to come back — twice. When I finally called to see when Joan would be in they informed me I was getting back $ 6. Needless to say I haven’t bothered going back in for my $ 6, they are either liars or really bad at math.

I stopped by Atalanta’s once and was not all that impressed. That stated; this was many years ago and I’m willing to scope it out again so it gets three(3) stars. In defence of the place; at least Bisbee(unlike quite a few Az towns between 5−25K residents, smaller ones I’ll give a bye too since the population base is too low in all fairness), DOES have enough ‘intelligence’, shall we say, to support a local Indie bookstore. UPDATE: according to their Facebook page; Atalanta apparently closed their doors this past May. RIP

Great customer service over the phone. Very important for first impressions, especially prospective tourists. Can’t wait to support this local store when I visit!

A great multi-purpose store in scenic Old Bisbee. Books, new and used, many of local interest, art supplies, maps, music, organic natural clothing, music instrument rental, even solar ovens. I’ve spent a few days exploring Bisbee and this is one place both tourists and locals patronize. Along with the fine restaurant, Café Roka, across the street, a few nice galleries and a couple of spots for good coffee, my visit was perfect.

This place is an absolute nightmare. Nothing is organized and I get the willies every time I walk in but I have OCD. Believe it or not you can get the Sunday New York Times there. The owner, I forgot her name, is pleasant but odd.
