I just happened to have a meeting at Birmingham Southern today. Lucky for me, it was held at The Southern Environmental Center. Before the meeting started, I got the grand tour of the whole faciltiy. Amazing.
Up until the 1980s, this was the indoor pool facility for BSC. Since the pool was too short, they opted for a new one. In the existing buliding, they put an incredible interactive envornmental museum. The best part… the empty pool is still there. You can walk right in the dang thing.
There are imaginative exhibits that will leave your jaw hanging on the floor. One of them even takes you down a slide, while teaching you the inner workings of our sewer system.
If you are 4, 40, or 80 this place will amaze you.
