Finally you are open. Came on a Sunday before seeing a show at VST. Found two seats at the bar. Decent tap and bottled beer selection. Ordered a few beers as well as the trio dip and raviolis. Atmosphere is casual but nice. Funny I had car work done where I was sitting. I’d suggest turning up the music inside a little to create a more controlled environment. Food comes and the raviolis and marinara are fantastic. The trio dip is fairly decent we didn’t enjoy the guacamole bean dip and pico although the spinach dip was good. The bartender disappeared for a while so we eventually got another beer. All in all the atmosphere and dreams of enjoying the patio one day will bring me back.

They have a nice array of beers on tap, but the food was mediocre. I expect to go back and give it a second chance, but with so many other pizza options in Birmingham I was expecting a little more.

Went for lunch the first week they were open. The food was good, but the male server(who I’m guessing was just trying to be friendly) asked us very specific questions that made us a little uncomfortable — what we did, the name of the company, the location of the building. Then a guy who might have been the owner walked up behind me and clapped his hands down on my shoulders — squeezing them as he spoke to my coworkers. I know that he was just trying to be friendly, too, but it really freaked me out. I’m not the kind of girl that is comfortable having a strange man touch me in such a familiar way.

We LOVE that this place is in our neighborhood and we have really been happy with the consistent quality of their dishes. The Hawaiian chicken pizza is our favorite menu item, I also like the muffuletta salad and the tomato bisque. We appreciate that we can get just 1 slice of cheese pizza for our toddler too, instead having to order another pie. We have gone in for sit down service a few times, but have had lots of great carry out experiences too(quick call in service and easy access with open parking close by– unlike post office pies, not hating, just the facts). The staff is great as well.

Have dined in and gotten take-out, and had a good experience both times! Delicious pizza, and the half size salad is a very good portion size. The pick two combos are the way to go! Can’t wait for warmer weather to enjoy the patio!

Their calzones are great. They have really good lunch specials too. The four top tables are a little small for four people, but it’s worth knocking knees over.

Finally tried this place after passing by multiple times on the way to get my hair cut by Newman at Seasick Records(if you’re a guy looking for a great hair cut give Newman a shot. He’s great). Great beer selection. Great service. Fair prices. My fiancée and I went around 7:30 on a Wednesday night and they were pretty crowded but we found a table without issue and were greeted by our waiter shortly after sitting. Ordered the daily special flatbread that had crab, Roma tomatoes, mushrooms and maybe another ingredient or two. It was excellent. Ordered the Sicilian meats pizza after and it was exceptional as well. Quality ingredients. My only complaint is that is was pretty greasy but what do you expect with a few pounds of pepperoni, Italian sausage and prosciutto on top? We will definitely be going back to try more from the menu.

So happy this place is thriving in the Crestwood neighborhood and for good reason! Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere! Kudos to the creators. Super menu chock full of adult and kid friendly fair. Amazing soups, flatbread pizzas and ‘the best calzone’ my Italian husband has ever eaten. Can’t wait for warmer weather as this place has all the ingredients for being the best outdoor eating establishment in the area. We will return again and again.

Heard about this place so I thought I’d check it out. Very cool space with a nice big patio and open air concept. Pretty impressive selection of beers on tap. We had the triple dip appetizer which I thought was pretty good and a large amount of food for the money. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was the pizza was just OK. Maybe it was the one I ordered but not one of the better pizzas I’ve had in Birmingham. However the service was good, food was affordable, and I think this place will do pretty well as it is in a good location for that area. Seems like a great place to do some day drinking when the weather is warm.

A great new neighborhood spot right on Crestline Blvd. I have now been twice and under different circumstances. First of all, it is a really cool concept taking over the service station that was here before. Besides the garage doors and refurbished gas pump outside, it doesn’t feel at all like the old, run down place it was before. They went top notch with the décor and patio. So the first time we went, it was for dinner with friends. They have a great tap beer selection which is a big win in my book. I got the meatball sub and it was really good. I personally might have a different preference on bread, but the meatballs themselves could go on cardboard and be good. The second time I went was to watch afternoon NFL football. Once again, the beer selection was exactly what was needed. They have plenty of TV’s to watch from almost any angle. I heard they will have some TV’s outside by the time the weather is nice again. So that will be even better! We also had the Italian quesadilla with those delicious meatballs again. Definitely a winner too. We also split some of the Thai peanut wings. I semi expected a thick sauce on them which was why I was hesitant. But it was a perfect amount of delicious sauce. Overall this is going to be a great place for many fun times ahead. I can’t wait to go back and hang out on the patio this spring!

I was really excited about«pizza patty melt.» But not much about the sandwich I got really designates it to be called that. It was on rye bread(which is not totally crazy but gives it more of a reuben feel, and I don’t remember reading it was on rye from the menu but I could be wrong). It was also heavy on the onions and they were more raw than grilled. I think there were supposed to be mushrooms on there, but I don’t remember tasting them? You can pick your cheese, which is cool — I got feta. Not a lot of marinara on this«pizza» sandwich, either, though I can understand that might make it super soggy. It wasn’t a bad sandwich, just not what I was expecting. My husband got the burger and was not impressed, he got jalapenos and said they had no flavor. We did enjoy the triple dip appetizer — the black bean and corn guac maybe needed a little more cilantro or salt or something, but otherwise I appreciate the experimentation. The menu said it came with pita bread and tortillas but it actually came with tortilla chips and some pita bread(PLENTY of food to split, A+ appetizer portion) so maybe their menu needs some updating? I did enjoy the atmosphere, it was fairly busy on a Wednesday but it wasn’t so loud that we were screaming at each other across the table. There are several TVs and they all had sports playing but they were easy enough to tune out. I think we should have taken the hint from everyone around us ordering pizza; I will at least come back and try that with a few beers.

Best pizza I have had in a while. We tried their house special and it was great! They use good quality ingredients. Their wings were just okay but I swear they have the best chunky blue cheese dressing. Service was great; our waitress was very sweet and attentive. I think it would be a fantastic place to watch a football game. They have tons of TVs. I can’t wait for spring where I can sit on their great patio!

What a neat place! We were looking for something to eat, and I had recently bookmarked this place on Unilocal because many of you had already discovered it’s awesomeness. We arrived, and were given the option to sit inside or outside, but chose inside for the heat factor. Though had we chosen to eat outside, there were plenty of(movable) heaters to keep customers warm. Our waitress was super friendly and bubbly. without being overly obnoxious/annoying. We asked for a recommendation for an appetizer and she suggested the cheese filled ravioli. The menu said the ravioli was filled with mozzarella, but it tasted like a mixture of mozzarella and ricotta. Regardless we chowed down and enjoyed the app. Pretty soon our Sicilian pizza emerged from the kitchen– full of sausage, pepperoni, ham, and the mushrooms we added. There were 8 pieces, and between the appetizer and fulfilling pizza, we ended up taking half home! Between the delicious and affordable food, the cool/laid back vibe, and excellent service, I’m sure we’ll be back!

Had never heard of this place until a few days ago. The SO had seen it on Unilocal & wanted to try it. We arrived at what used to be an old gas station that had been converted into a restaurant. It is a very unique & fun atmosphere. There was a lot of seating outside with heaters to provide warmth. We chose to go inside and got one of the last tables. I was pleasantly surprised to find several TVs inside playing the football games that were on and thought I’d miss! The wait staff was friendly and very attentive. We tried the ravioli for an appetizer, and had the Sicilian pizza(added mushrooms) for our meal. Both were great. We were stuffed and had to take half the pizza home and ate it the next day! I’m looking forward to coming back and introducing some friends to this place!

This is my second time here in this restuarant and it is great as always. The customer service here is excellent. Pizza is very delicious and hot in every bite! The manager and hostess are willing to help you feel like you’re at your home. Plus, the food is prepared well here.

I don’t give many 5 stars. But The Filling Station will be the exception. My date and I decided to stop here one fine Sunday afternoon after finding out that they had finally opened. I had passed by for months as they were working on the place and made a mental note to try them out when opening day arrived. The setup used to be an old gas station/mechanic shop. The owners have turned it into a restaurant yet they kept some remnants of the gas station in the mix. Seating inside is limited, and it looks like there may be more seating outside than in. There were heaters outside, but we chose inside since it was still a little too nippy for us to sit outside. Our waiter(who was great by the way) came promptly after we were seated to take our drink orders. He also recommended some beverages as well. We decided on the Sicilian pizza and a side of fries. The fries were lightly salted with sea salt and crisp to the bite. The Sicilian pizza was a meat lovers dream come true and a calorie-counters nightmare. The cheese was gooey just like you would imagine mozzarella to be and the toppings were plentiful. The crust was even yummy as well. For dessert we tried the homemade brownie. Delicious, moist and warmed brownie covered in vanilla ice cream, drizzled with caramel and chocolate syrup and topped with crunchy pecans. Is your mouth-watering yet? It should be. The dessert topped off a pleasant dining experience. For the win-The bill came to around $ 26. For all we bought, that wasn’t a bad total at all. From good service, to delicious food, to superb location(if you live on the East side of town), you can’t go wrong with The Filling Station. Check them out. I think you will enjoy.

Great beer selection. Small wine list but it is PERFECTLY chosen for the menu — 2 Cabernets, in particular. The appetizer selection is just ok. Salads are good and well-portioned. Pizzas are fantastic. Service is good, though the team is not very knowledgable about selections of beer and wine; easy fix if management is willing. Definitely will be back.

Great service from all the people who worked there! Super helpful! We sat outside even though it’s December but their outside heaters are very warm, and they moved them for us. Pizza was delicious… great beer selection too! Perfect location!

We arrived for a Saturday lunch at 11:30 and had our choice of inside or outside seating. By 12:30 the tables were full. We had an appetizer of guacamole, salsa, and spinach and artichoke dip. The dips were served with pita bread and tortilla chips– all very yummy! We had a Sicilian pizza that was filled with meats– sausage, pepperoni, ham.. . There were 8 slices and the two of us only finished half the pizza, so it’s definitely big enough for 3 – 4 adults if you’ve had an appetizer. The wait staff was attentive and friendly and the food was tasty. We will return!
