If I said that you could go and experience a setting that some of the most famous players in baseball played who also shaped the game, and its in Birmingham, Alabama would you believe me? Well, its the truth. They have pictures of players who have swung their big sticks at the park when you walk in. Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth… Need I say more? Go and check it out. The good thing is that they are using it and kids who play ball can step foot on a field and play at a place where the most famous have.

The oldest active baseball park in America. This year Rickwood celebrates 100 years… that’s right, 1910. On Wednesday the Birmingham Barons, formerly the Birmingham Coal Barons, then the Birmingham Black Barons, played the Rickwood Classic in front of 10,000 people at 12:30PMCT, Wednesday Afternoon. The umps wore bow ties, the cracker jack kids wore«music man» hats, and the Barons sported their 1913 uniforms. They played blues, jazz and big band between innings. Wow, a real throw-back. My 10 year old said, «Dad, every seat in the place is so close to the field.» Well, those were the days, huh?
