So, we went into this place not knowing exactly what to expect. We had walked by it several times before and always thought it looked more like a divey sports bar than anything else. The tables are basic, bar is OK looking, and there are very few indicators that they would serve good Italian food here. Things definitely started looking up when our very friendly and attentive waitress first came to the table. The wine selection was obviously limited, but the Belle Ambiance blend that we ordered was very good(and also huge pours for the price… another plus!!) We ordered the fried ravioli to start, and they were OK… nothing to write home about by any means. The waitress frequently came to the table making sure things were going well until we were ready to order the entrees. I decided on a meat calzone, and was not disappointed. I could not believe how delicious it looked when I first laid eyes on it… perfect golden buttery crust… and HUGE! I ended up actually getting three meals out of it, but am sure most people would be full just eating half of it in one sitting. The marinara sauce was also on point. Overall, one of the best calzones that I ever had. My partner ordered the spaghetti, and was also surprised when it came out. The first surprise was how big the included«side» salad was… loaded with cheese and meat and looked delicious. The spaghetti was baked it with a nice layer of mozzarella over the top, and it was served with two delicious garlic bread sticks. He ended up taking half of his home with him as well. In the end, the only reason for a star being left off is the bar-ish feeling of the place. That being said, the prices are also great for the amount of food and drink that you get… so I can live with it!

Stopped in just to check it out. If you are tired of the half burnt weird topping pizzas for ten times what a pizza should cost(post office pies) than this is your place. The pizzas are simple, HUGE, and fresh. The olive oil dough is also amazing. I could honestly eat this pizza every day. The staff are great and the atmosphere is good. Highly recommend!

Went here to try out a new pizza place we hadn’t tried yet. It was terrible… I am actually shocked that there were as many stars given to this restaurant. First of all, the service was super awkward. Cook was going out front for what seemed like a cig break. Bartender also went missing for a while, meanwhile there are people running behind the bar(wasn’t sure if they were employees off the clock or what?) Then another employee is crying in the corner. It was very unusual. And now the most important part, the food was absolutely terrible. We ordered two salads, which were the best part of the meal. Also got wings, which were under cooked and had a terrible cheap wing sauce. Then we ordered a large pepperoni pizza that tasted like a FROZEN pizza. I was disgusted with the quality of the food. Left the place with half the food in a to-go box and fifty dollars out of pocket. We ended up walking to the car and just throwing out the left overs because there was no way we were eating the leftovers. I was so disappointed that I almost just wanted to drive Post Office Pie’s just to get a good/great pizza. Save your money and don’t be fooled by the four stars here. They are probably just fake reviews because I highly doubt this was just a bad day on their part.

The food was delicious, but the waitress was a little disinterested in my family and I. Being it’s very close to a college, I noticed that the waitress focused on the tables with guys around that age and spent most of the time flirting with them and ignoring us. Other than her, the food was fantastic!

I liked my waitress. I liked the food. I liked the atmosphere. I liked my neighbors. I liked the service. I had a mighty fine hot date with my wife and really enjoyed this place.

This was the first bar I visited on my first trip to Birmingham and in reality nothing else compared. The atmosphere is fantastic with all of your favourite sports playing with loads of space to sit at a bar that runs the length of the establishment. Couple this with exceptionally friendly, laid back staff, super friendly regulars, great food and drinks and you don’t have to look any further for a place to hang out in Birmingham. Tip: Bartender Cam’s Bloody Mary was the best that I had in the south. And he will make it to you exact specifications while suggestion how to improve. Easily 5 out of 5 stars

On a Wednesday afternoon 1pm this is a quiet lil pizza shop in five points. I was immediately greated and invited to sit wherever I’d like. Dining for one, I chose the large bar that nearly spans the length of the Restuarant so I could catch up on ESPN. There are tables and booths available too. Lunch specials… Reasonably priced slice of pizza with side salad for lunch. And damn… This pizza slice is bigger than your head. The Greek salad with Greek dressing and lots of feta was a great start. Everyone around me was having a slice of pizza but from the taste of it And the other reviews, I have to imagine the calzones are excellent too. I recommend trying this place for your next pizza craving. Full bar. And TVs. Maybe watch your next game here.

Cold beer and 3 TVs with the games on is a great start. Excellent pizza. Tried the hand-tossed House Special pizza. It has a unique taste with an olive oil and garlic based sauce instead of the traditional pizza sauce. If you like garlic, you have to give this a try.

Stumbled upon this place while on the Southside with my boyfriend. Had a taste for pizza and decided to give it a try. From the moment we walked in to the time we left, great service, friendly staff, and awesome food. We ordered the«meats» pizza and buffalo wings. The food was so, so good and tasty! The only thing i would say as a negative is the building has an odd smell when you first walk in, but soon dissipates after being in the restaurant for a while. Also did not offer any cocktail specials during their happy hour. But overall, a great place to hangout and eat. Hope it stays around for a long time.

It was Date Night and the pizza connissoueur(PC from here on out) and I decided to check out this spot. I saw the sign outside that read live music awaited us inside. What a treat! However the musician was on break for awhile so we were entertained by a cute jukebox/stereo in the back of the place. Our server, Marisa, was super sweet and bubbly, which is always a plus in my book. I ordered the small 10 inch pizza with Alfredo, beef and extra cheese. I love the fact that they offer Alfredo as a choice. I can’t find another pizza place that offers that choice in the city. PC ordered the small with beef, sausage and mushrooms. As we waited for our meal, we decide to haze our waitress to find out the history behind this new place. In a nutshell– they have been open since December, one of the owners has a family background in the restaurant biz, Tuesday is turn-up day, and live music would be added to the calendar soon. Way to go Marisa! She knew her stuff. She also pointed out the owners to us. The female owner came by our table and introduced herself and chatted with us, which was impressive because both of us are very big on customer service. Now, on to the food. Our pizzas finally arrived after a short wait and boy, were we in for a surprise! The cheese on mine stretched deliciously similar to what you would see in a top notch food magazine. The crust was buttery and so tasty that I ate all of it. And the beef topping was plentiful without being over the top. PC didn’t look up the entire time so I knew he was pleased. The female owner, bartender guy and Marisa made sure we were well taken care of. The musician came back from his break and entertained the crowd the rest of the night with a few selections. PC and I both agreed we enjoyed our meal and that we would definitely come back. Summary: Little Italy Pies and Pints is worth checking out. Delicious pizza, friendly staff, decent prices, quaint atmosphere. I can see this place winning«Best New Local Restaurant» in another year. Make sure you help put them on the map!

I ordered the meat calzone. You will not be disappointed! Very buttery, garlicky, meaty, and cheesy! The price is fair and the service was fine. The place smells a little funky though. Probably could use a deep cleaning. Just my observation though.

This place is delish! I’ll be honest and say I’ve only had it twice and both times got a calzone, but if it’s good, why switch it up?! The first time I got it to-go and was shocked at the size of this thing. Their calzone is one of the best I’ve had around B-ham for sure. Doesn’t try to do anything too fancy, large, tasty ingredients and comes with one of 3 «dipping» sauces. My tip on those is to stray far from the olive oil/garlic sauce because it’s literally minced garlic with pure olive oil poured over it. Nothing to give it any kind of flavor or even make it actually«dipp-able». Minus that, I’ll go here for a good calzone any day! I will say that dining in, pizza slices and apps seem to come out a lot… A LOT quicker than calzones do. If you’re not in good company or are starving, I’d recommend bringing a book or ordering a quick app to wait for one of these. Well worth the wait tho. Servers are all friendly. Seems like they accommodate a lot of «regulars» as well. They have a few good brews on tap, and even saw the barkeep letting some patrons sample his fav mix drinks and beers to help decide what they actually wanted to purchase. I will say this was taking place while it was a bit slower… not as busy. Anyway, I’m a fan and will definitely be visiting again.

Very pleased with our experience here. For starters it’s a little small hole in the wall beer and pizza joint. But it was VERY cozy. I didn’t feel out of place or anything. Service was friendly and attentive. So my favorite part: the food. I was beyond surprised and impressed. I’ve eaten my share of pizza from all over and this place blew me away. We had the House Specialty pizza which had an olive oil and garlic base instead of marinara and essentially was a supreme pizza minus a few toppings. The toppings/ingredients were phenomenal from start to finish. Super fresh, like they had just been picked from a market, and more importantly cooked just right so there wasn’t any raw taste or feeling. They also give you a choice at crusts: hand tossed or crispy thin. I personally prefer a hand tossed crust and it didn’t disappoint. We also ordered a Supreme Calzone. Man. This. Thing. Was. HUGE. I ate a quarter and so did my girlfriend and after that I was done. It was stuffed to the brim with the same kind of toppings as mentioned before, Lots of pepperoni, sausage and ham. In conclusion, Little Italy’s Pies and Pints was great. 100% will be coming back and recommend it. Pricing is very fair and in my book inexpensive compared to most places for a great pizza and calzone.

In my opinion, this is the best new place to drop by for pizza in Birmingham. Since my first visit a month ago, I’ve been back more times than I care to admit for the delicious fried ravioli, pepperoni pizza, and well-rounded beer selections! The consistency of the flavor, cheese, and crispy crust is completely on point! I’m originally from Chicago and I’ve had my fair share of great, mediocre, and downright terrible pizza. Little Italy know how to bake a pie that will have you craving more my fellow pizza lovers! In addition, I’ve only experienced friendly service and conversation with the staff. The only thing I’m not a huge fan of is the décor and atmosphere. It’s a generic sports pub theme could use a more personal touch for my taste. Other than that, I’m a fan of the location in 5 Points South, great pizza, solid service, and decent beer options!

Visiting the Birmingham area and decided to order from Little Italy & so glad we did. We tried the Greek salads and built our own pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, spinach and sun-dried tomatoes. Both were awesome… full of ingredients and flavor. Not too greasy and the crispy thin crust was very good. Would definitely recommend this place to those in the area and will look forward to ordering from them again.

Little Italy has a nice feel to it. The bar is beautiful there’s no doubt; however, the restaurant itself looks overstyled. Not a lot of quality on the walls, but plenty of quantity of things that really have little to do with Italy. The food was okay. The crust on my calzone was very good. The overall ingredients inside were not top quality. It was average. The experience was rather average. Unfortunately for Little Italy, I prefer not to spend a large amount of calories on average food. If my friends suggested we go, I wouldn’t mind; however, it would not be my suggestion. There are better pizzas and better joints in town.

Can I just say that I’m so excited that this place opened! There weren’t any solid pizza places around 5 points that served slices until now. I’m always sad at how little foot traffic this place brings in compared to the restaurants around it so if you are in the area and thinking about getting a slice of pizza you should go in! I love almost everything that they have on tap(they also have wine by the glass). Service has always been solid every time I have gone. They have special slices of the day however the cheese is always a great option. I also recommend the fried pickles. As for the pizza, I should say it’s as big as you would want for a lunch slice. The only reason I’m giving this place a 4 instead of a 5 is because of the crust. It is good with all of the toppings on it but when you get to the end it is a little dry and leaves a dry taste in your mouth when you’re done with the slice. I could also do with a tad thinner crust on the pizza. However other then that the pizza is solid. The service is also very fast. I highly recommend this place if you are close to 5 points and craving pizza.

One of the things I miss about Chicago is those places you and your friends or your date can grab a cheap beer, get a reasonably priced pizza, and not break the bank. Formaggios might have filled that hole for me in the meantime, but Little Italy is hands down my favorite pizza and beer haunt in Birmingham. Their calzones really hit the spot for me. Elsewhere, calzones tend to be full of air and cooked super crispy, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But the calzones at Little Italy’s are jam-packed with toppings, not puffy with air, and are the perfect median between soft and crispy. And they give you plenty of marinara for dipping. Did I mention it’s enormous? Unless you come hungry with a big appetite, you will be taking some home. Their pizza is also a must-try. I’ve had the house special(minus onions and peppers) and the olive oil base makes for a rich, decadent dinner. Their smallest pizza size is a 12″ which, again, unless you eat big or go home, you’ll have some leftovers. Their specialty offerings are the best bang for your buck as far as pizza toppings go — creating your own with several toppings might run up the bill a little. Their toppings are always fresh, and they have a surprising variety to choose from.
