Delicio’s Pizza & Pasta

I think this is a fantastic place but I clearly hit it on the wrong night. I had to wait some time before I could even order and find out if I was to make my own seat or was to be seated. I watched a family leave due to the amount of time it took to receive their food. People receiving their food before me and all I had was cheese bread. I do not know if they are use to the business or understaffed I am not sure, but the food was still good. I want to give them another shot, I think they deserve it.

If you advertise Delivery service, do it… I’d be fine if it didn’t say they deliver… Take «Delivery» off of your website & Unilocal!!!

My husband works nearby and eats here on a pretty regular basis. He took me and our kid there one night to try it. This is now my favorite Italian restaurant. The menu is not vast but every dish I have tried has been fantastic. I have not tried the pizza yet but I have eaten from the Appetizer menu, Italian dishes and the Sandwich menu and every one was delicious! The bread for the sandwiches and the garlic bread that comes with the Italian dishes are home made right there in the restaurant. They are flaky-​crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. So good! The owner/​chef came out personally to ensure we were satisfied. He even brought his wife over to introduce her. They are lovely people who make lovely food!

Food is fine. They advertise delivery yet 3 out of 4 times I have called they never have a driver. Surely, they could «steal» a delivery person from another pizza place. If they can’t deliver, they shouldn’t advertise delivery and then give some lame excuse about not having a driver. Too many other pizza options. Gave them several chances and will just move on to another place.

I think it’s funny how everyone that leaves a review knows the chef’s name. I am pretty sure all of the glowing reviews have to come from his friends or employees. The food is alright, but I agree with the reviewer Kim that no one there knows exactly what they’re doing. The few times I tried this place they also told me it was someone new that was unfamiliar blah blah blah. The same driver also got lost coming to my house twice so needless to say it is not worth waiting an extra hour for mediocre pizza.

This review is based on a single poor delivery experience. To be fair, we have never dined in or sampled any fare other than basic cheese and pepperoni pizzas. A restaurant should not be judged based on one meal. However, I chose this vendor based on glowing Unilocal reviews so feel compelled to share our first (and likely last) experience.
We ordered three pizzas to be delivered to AirWalk, the trampoline park approximately 3 minutes away, for a kid’s birthday party. The person who took the order had considerable trouble processing a credit card over the phone. (My husband was led to believe the man had never done this before.) We placed our order more than an hour in advance. The pizzas were 35 minutes late. The driver got lost, apparently, and had to return to the restaurant to contact us to let us know he was running late.
The quality of the pizza was, at best, mediocre. No crust, rubbery cheese. The twelve ravenous kids seemed to enjoy it.

The flourless lemoncello is light, creamy, and made by Chef Peter here in the restaurant, but there are many more desert specials that he offers that aren’t on the menue: banana pudding roulade with banana liquor. Blueberry roulade, raspberry and several others.

Great food and the only Italian restaurant in Birmingham offering a full gluten free meal (appetizers, main meal, and desert)! The chef was very informed on a GF diet and came out to explain personally where and how the pasta and bread are made and how they are prepared. Beyond that, the food is absolutely great. If you go, don’t forget to leave some room for the homemade roulage deserts which are gluten free, made with fresh ingredients, and are amazing.

Fabulous food and chef Peter is a gem! Great gluten free menu! Chef Peters sauce is to die for! When I’m finished eating, I want to lick the plate it’s so delicious! Must visit!

Awesome, fresh made food! Wonderful service. Chocolate cake is to die for! Will definitely be back. Kids loved their cheese pizza.

Really Good Food, the subs are great. I loved the bread! Fresh ingredients and they cook everything fresh. Has a really good selection of Gluten free bread and pastries. Will be back :-)

First time. Went for lunch. It was outstanding!!! Peter (chef) came out to greet us. He told us everything is fresh and made in house. You can tell. Kid friendly… Awesome. We are definitely coming back.

Birmingham is riddled with terrible pizza. I don’t want to have to travel to the end of the earth to make it to post office pies or slice. Area 41 has good pie but they think it’s worth 100 $ a pie for some reason. That being said, the place that used to be here, tony Rays, was bad. I went in here the other day to give this guy a shot, ordered a calzone with chicken, spinach, and roasted red peppers. Crust was perfect, it was cooked perfect, ingredients were great. Only gripe was didn’t use enough ricotta or mozzarella. Price was great as well. Overall great. Coming back for the pizza and I really hope it’s good because I live so close by. Will update with how the pizza is.

Highly Recommend! My family loves to eat here. We have tried about everything on the menu, and it is amazing. My wife and son love the pizza. I also highly recommend the tomato and basil soup, it is delicious!

Delicio’s was in Mountain Brook and recently moved near Doug Baker & 280 next to Egg & I. Chef Peter was very accommodating to my dietary needs. Our vegetarian pizza crust was very light and not chewy plus generous toppings (made without cheese per my request). The marinara sauce was full of flavor. Apprecieate the real flatware. Looking forward to next visit.
