i don’t know what Jamie b was talking about! i DID leave my car at Dee’s on 01.17.2013 because cars were going down the hill on 24^th avenue sideways. the lady was so very nice and was concerned that i even had to walk down the hill to get to my house. sketchy? that review was sketchy.
later that evening i was able to walk back up and get my car. the young man was very nice. he asked if everything was okay, gave me a thumbs up and wished me a nice evening!
and no, i didn’t buy a thing. i have before, and will again, but that was not a condition to my being able to leave my car there.

Dee’s Package. This place should be a freakin’ landmark.
I love the fact that when I am in town, I can go pick up a growler (well, half gallon jug) of fresh draft beer. Usually you can get Good People’s brews there, but I don’t think they had any the last time I was in.
They are always willing to take a chance on craft beers for us craft geeks. When Free The Hops got the new legislation passed increasing the ABV of beer in Alabama, Dee’s was one of the first places to sell the high gravity beers. If they don’t have it, just go ask the folks at the desk. Chances are, they’ll order it for you. Cause they’re awesome like that.
Dee’s is #1 in my book.

It was ok. I was disappointed in the beer selection, however the people were nice. Highland Package store had a much larger selection

This place has just become my new favorite «package» store when I am in Birmingham. The staff is very friendly, helpful and courteous. The big draw here for me product wise is that they sell fresh draft beer. I bought one of their glass reusable growler jugs and had it topped off with some Good People «SnakeHandler IPA». Good People is made and brewed fresh right here in Birmingham so how can you not LOVE that? Shopping here allows me to support two local and independent businesses which I like. I also love the feeling of nostalgia that I get going to this place. Everything from the neon sign which celebrates urban art from a by-​gone age to the fact that you can pick up some great, REASONABLY priced cigars. The place has the feel of the old neighborhood stores I remember from when I was a kid. I also discovered in this place that they are bringing back Schlitz again with the original recipe from the 1960’s and 1970’s. This place is a living, breathing, functioning museum of Americana where you can pick up some cold beer. Shouldn’t all museums be operated this way?!

My favorite liquor store in Birmingham. Competitive prices and a knowledgeable and helpful staff keep me going back, especially for the city’s best selection of high gravity beers.
