What a disappointment. Went for lunch with two friends from out of town. Have eaten in the Costa’s in Hoover many times and everything is always excellent there. I promoted the chicken Alfredo as being the best in town and we had 3 ceasar salads with them. The salads were swimming in dressing and almost gross. Then the Alfredo came out… The chicken was perfect, crispy but tender. But the Alfredo was soup. They did not reduce it at all. It was horrible, one of the guys couldn’t eat it like that and sent it back, but the rest of us were hungry and slopped it in anyway. We could only eat half our orders before we just gave up. They had not come back with the properly reduced(or just pour the liquid out) Alfredo and after like 10 –12 minutes more we said forget it and he just did not get to eat. Now let me be clear, this was not at 10 am when they were not ready with Alfredo, it was 12:20… Heart of lunch hour… She did take his order off the tab, but still charged us for 3 inedible salads and 2 soupy Alfredo’s. I have to say it was completely different the the Hoover experience. Will be a while before I give them another try at this location… If ever.

I love the gyros here. It’s honestly my favorite in town. The meat from the ‘spool if lamb’ is quite good, as is the taziki sauce. Even better, it definitely errs on the larger side. I usually get it with wild rice, which is invariably a little on the greasy side. For dessert, we have ordered the cannoli, which was a tad on the on the bland side. All in all, I like the restaurant and its core offerings of Greek and Italian fare.

I ate there with my family last night and was really pleased with the service, the food, and the whole experience. I brought home four to-go boxes for my husband to sample from my family’s leftovers because we’re new to the area. I had the marinated chicken kabobs over rice pilaf and a Greek salad. As someone who is trying to eat healthy I was pleasantly surprised that I could go to an Italian/Greek restaurant such as this one and find something that could be considered lighter. It was delicious. Our server was very friendly and helpful — everyone I interacted with was kind and friendly. A very warm welcome to a new resident! My family members got the baked ziti, chicken parmesan, spaghetti, and the Greek lasagna. The bread was fresh, and the main courses pleased my very picky grandparents. We will definitely be back and this will likely be one of the places we will bring our friends and family members to try when they come to visit us from Georgia.

I have eaten here before with my family. Food is always good. The alfredo is one of the best scratch made in town. We picked up to go on the way in to town for the holidays. The gyro was outstanding and the meatball hoagie was very good. The smoke is a turn off.

This place has alright food, but what really bothers me is the cigarette smoke smell that leaks out of the bar area. They really should reconsider changing that. I have had their catered food, however, and it’s pretty good, but a little greasy.

The Costa’s in Hoover has always been a favorite so we decided to give the Trussville location a try. The smoking bar didn’t bother us, but it is unusual to still see smoking in a restaurant. The service wasn’t bad as other reviews have said, just awkward: Salads came out before appetizers and it was hard to make room for everything, we had to ask for small plates to share appetizers, etc. Still, everything was fast and friendly. The food was genuinely great and there was a ton of it. Steaks and pasta dishes are the star of the show.

The ONLY reason I’m giving this two stars is because their homemade ranch dressing is good enough to eat by the spoonful, the alfredo sauce is buttery and creamy and they put enough cheese on their dishes to clog the arteries of an elephant. In all actuality, their food is quite good. I’ve eaten a few things on their menu but what I always go back to is their baked manicotti with alfredo sauce. The bread is excellent if you get it when it’s warm. If it’s been sitting, you’re going to be trying to eat a bread flavored rock. As I mentioned, the ranch is exceptional. I’ve gone in and bought it specifically and eat it on everything. Now, on to the bad. Like the other reviewer mentioned, the place smells funky because of the ‘enclosed’ bar. The service is either really good or really bad. However, the reason the place got two stars is because of the incompetence of the kitchen. My friend and I ordered the manicotti — hers with the regular marinara and me with the alfredo. Simple right? Wrong. TWICE we got it with chicken in it, and once we got it with beef in it because the kitchen apparently got it confused with the canneloni(or so said the person who answered the phone). I had to take back the meal and they gave me what I originally ordered — nothing free for my time and the distance I had to travel to take it back. And when they mistakenly put in the chicken, the only thing they did was refund the extra that the dish cost with the chicken. Good thing neither of us were vegetarians! Another time, a friend of mine ordered chicken parmesan and got veal instead. Then yet another time she ordered spaghetti marinara and got this blob of absolutely horrible smelling pasta in the middle of it. All they will do is replace the meal(if you take back the original). Put it this way, if your order is correct, usually it’s good, but getting it correct seems to be the hard part. Their prices have also gone up and their portions have gone down. I would go in and buy the ranch — that’s about it. It’s sad that a place that was once great has gone downhill so far.

I honestly didn’t expect much from this place thanks to the poor previous reviews but I have to say I am presently suprised. The bar area was way to smokey to sit at. I guess they still allow cigs here. Luckily, the smoking is seperated by glass. Sweet tea was great. The side salad was pretty plain with bagged like lettuce but the dressings both my friend and I had were great. The waitress, Aubry-Ann, or Mrs Ann, should be making well over 100k a year if she was tipped correctly by everyone. She never let our glass go less than half full, it was pretty amazing because we were trying to get them below. I never expected such good customer service. Chicken pesto was mediocre. Chicken was a little over cooked in my chicken pesto but it was a huge portion. Pasta was ok. Friends steak was a little fatty and not cooked the way he asked but still mrs ann is worth the trip. I could give this place another chance simply because of her!
