I still have dreams of the filet mignon that i ordered there 2 years ago… I think it’s time I go back. Duck salad with Brussel sprouts was also a big highlight. Love the place.

Great place for any occasion. Great lounge and awesome food!!! A tad bit expensive for what you get. By service is good and it’s a cool place.

Went with couple of my friends last week to try this place out. Little on the expensive side and the waiter could have suggested a better wine to go with the steaks that we ordered, but, THEFOODWASABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS!!! The steak was one of the best I ever had and the mashed potatoes was the best that I ever had. Great food, great service, worth the try. Good place to take out on a date.

Came here last night with my boyfriend for his birthday. He got a free dessert! We loved our waiter, Dave. He was super personable and a nice change to the normal stuffy waiters/waitresses you get. The atmosphere wasn’t as formal as I was expecting, seeing as there were woodsy/cabin undertones, but it was nice. Great music playing in the background as well. The calamari is different than how you get it at other places, not as chewy or crispy but more of a soft texture that come in strips rather than rings.

The steak is great, many cuts. The bread pre meal is also varied and tasty. Lobster Mac & Cheese is FANTASTIC! Also the truffle fries are enormous. Make sure to share. It can be shared amongst four. Service is a little slow, especially when it gets busy during peak hours.

The filet was cooked to perfection. The lobster Mac was great, coming from someone who doesn’t like Mac and cheese. The service was second to none and the atmosphere was intimate. Great place for well needed date night! Highly recommend this place if you haven’t been here yet.

It was the tomahawk ribeye that lured us in one Valentine’s Day weekend but it was the top notch service provided by Melinda that will keep us coming back. We absolutely enjoyed her attentive service and feel she is an asset to the establishment for sure. BUT back to the Tomahawk ribeye for two: like buttah! So damn good. Even if it was done a grade more than our order, still delicious. We hear tell this piece of delectable meat will be a frequent special item so do yourself a favor, grab a friend and belly up to the bone in!

I really enjoyed my visit to BRC. I went with my son and husband on a afternoon during Restaurant Week. Upon arrival they have ‘complimentary’ valet, but we self parked. The vibe of the restaurant is for an older crowd but the place was so lovely I could care less. I ordered the calamari and the burger/salad/root beer cake special, my man chose a turkey club. Before the meal they provide you with a basket of warm delicious focaccia, so if you’re trying to avoid the cabs tell them no thanks in advance. My calamari had a very pleasant texture compared to how it could have been. When our food arrived I was pleased with the presentation-everything comes on the side, and the truffle fries were delicious. I didn’t get his name but our waited was the right amount of awesome; not too pesky but not too far away when needed. What made it even better was when I mentioned the cool décor so he decided to give me a tour of the restaurant before I left. Lunch for 2 adults was about $ 60 bucks including tip, which is steep but I’ve paid that same amount at the CCF and it was no way near worth it. I’d love to come dine here again.

I decided to try out BRCH during restaurant week. I am impressed with the quality of food and level of service. My waiter, Kevin was very knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended an excellent Proseco wine, which I will try again. Price of $ 12 for 9oz wasn’t hard to swallow for a very crisp wine. My brother joined me for this experience and he enjoyed his dish as well. The location is tablecloth only so one would suspect that collar shirts and leather bottom shoes were required but they are not. I scoped out the place the week before and noticed people in jeans and gym shoes. The host Kim said they don’t strictly enforce the code. Bummer. Food People, Allll Aboard! I started off with the artisan salad which was quite tasty and just enough to get started. I had the braised chicken and kale which was a nice mix and perfectly seasoned. However, one small qualm – the part of meat on bone had no flavor at all :( I am not a fan of brussel sprouts but these were seasoned and braised very nicely; I will try to recreate these in my la-bor-a-tory. The timing of the food was on tap, but I must say every time Kevin came to our table – we had food in our mouth. I feel weird when someone waits for you to finish your bite… The dessert was pretty good from what I heard – my brother had the milk and cookies. I gave my strawberry dream pie to my co worker; who said it was a nice combination of strawberry and lemon with graham cracker crust. $ 5 Valet parking was a nice feature.

Went for restaurant week and was a little disappointed. The food was very good. The menu was very limited. The service was weird. They brought our main course almost immediately after the salad. So we left it to the side while we finished our starter. Shortly after, like 3 bites into our main meal, they brought the desert. Needless to say, we felt VERY rushed. There were 2 of us and they added a 20% tip to the bill. If this doesn’t bother you… go have dinner there. I am taking BR off my list.

My husband and I love this place. It’s where we go to have a nice quiet dinner without the kids or surprise birthday dinner for a friend or two. The calamari is delicious and the staff couldn’t be any kinder.

Spend. The. Money. It’s pricey. It is the best steak I’ve ever had. The zip/chop sauce is good enough to just drink with a straw. Service is beyond good. Just dust the cobwebs off your wallet and go.

Love coming to this place for happy hour! I’ve tried happy hours all over the city and his by far is the best… esp during the summer when the patio is open. Great drinks and pours for an unbelievable price. The food is just as delicious as dinner, but for a portion of he price

We attended BRCH for a dinner party sponsored by an employer. Now I have been there just ordering off the menu, but the experience is always a little different when you choose one of four entrees, and all of the appetizers have been selected as well. In our case we could choose a filet mignon, a duck breast or a fish. And we were served calamari, jumbo shrimp, stuffed mushrooms and raw ahi tuna as appetizers. I ordered the filet and was surprised that it was huge. It was tasty too. All commented that they liked what they ordered. The apps were great too. Now I have been to Big Rock Chophouse ordering off the menu and that was a fine experience also. We left stuffed and smiling this time as when we had ordered off the menu.

I’m only reviewing the cigar lounge. I generally don’t go to Birmingham, just too much of a hillbilly I guess. Recently we were looking for a new place to have a cigar and a drink and saw this on Unilocal.Against my thoughts, we went and had such a good time that we have been back and will have a holiday party soon. We did bring our own cigars the first time after being told on the phone there would be a cutting fee. We were not charged the fee and the waiter Jorge, was really an awesome guy and provided great service. He talked to us, when he had time, through the night. He’s a guy you could join for a beer and cigar and feel like you have know him for years. We ordered 3 appetizers: Steak bites, Seafood sample — lox, capers, fish spreads, and bread, and soup. The food is a bit more than I’d expect to pay but it is Birmingham area and very good. We came back and Jorge was working again as well as Tony, another great guy who has been here for a long time. Since they own Griffin Claw, that is what is mainly on tap, which is fine. Alcohol has a strange price point. It appears a bit more expensive up front but if you buy doubles the price goes down. This last time my girlfriend ordered the Calamari and it was fine, nothing overly special but good. Be aware, this is a Diamond Crown cigar lounge, which means they only carry higher priced cigars and they are priced higher than other cigar lounges by 4+ dollars. Overall, a great place to relax.

Had a good dinner here. Was with a large party so that always changes the experience some. I tried the bison burger($ 20, one of most inexpensive menu items, just to give you a barometer) and while I recommend it I personally would try something else should I be back. Most others in the party had beef. All dishes were served up true to our asking — med-rare, med, etc. Oyster appetizer was very good. Pros: competent service and solid dishes. Cons: none really.

The experience here will leave you satisfied. The food is some of the best in the area. The service is great and some of the best in the Midwest(Mitchell the server and Allie the bartender are memorable and fun). However… The music here caters to the person who spent the prior night on the couch with a tub of raw cookie dough, a bottle of white zin watching Sex and the City re-runs while whimpering over relationships of years past. First of all, I’m not Delilah. Stop hollerin’ at me with that stupid song. They’ve had the same damn playlist on for the past 4 years I’ve been coming here. There isn’t a single happy or halfway enjoyable song on that playlist. It’s like someone took a few terrible 90’s songs, then peppered in every one-hit-wonder kill myself track from the early 2000s. Then, they brought in the cast from Dawson’s Creek to pick out a few acoustic misery jams. I would like to frequent this place, but they need someone with a moderate sense of musical taste to make it right. Please help!

I’ve been here for happy hour a number of times(they have great deals), but went for a full meal for the first time on Thursday(10⁄29). Apps: Onion soup – tasty, but the bread in the soup lost all structure. Rabbit risotto – DELICIOUS. You could make an entire meal of this. Calamari – Pretty good. Strips not rings(and no tentacles). Not overly chewy like calamari can sometimes get. Didn’t stay crispy in the sauce though. Mains: Filet – very tasty. Served with french fried onions and a zip sauce. Seasoning/flavor was good and was very tender. However, ONEMAJORCAVEAT – this was ordered medium rare and was delivered a lot closer to medium well. Told the server who didn’t seem to care much(when offering up dessert, she joked that«we don’t overcook our dessert»). I expect a steakhouse to know what«medium rare» means. Short Rib – (special). Dining companion enjoyed this, described it as very«beefy» and slightly on the fatty side. Sides: Only got one – the spinach with caramelized onions and garlic. It was OK, but was expecting more garlic/onion flavor. The apps were fairly filling meaning that we had ample leftovers to take home. I would recommend and return to Big Rock, but would recommend ordering a bit rarer than what you want to end up with.

Wow! The food and service here were both incredible! I was here years ago when it was«Eaton Street Station,» and the food was nothing like what we had today. Fresh, gorgeous and delicious! A caprese salad with a variety of heirloom tomatoes was both beautiful and yummy. A huge platter of fresh fruit that included lovely figs was simply outstanding and perfect for the mid summer season. Little sliders filed with buffalo chicken, steak or salmon patties were all delicious and easy to eat while sitting or standing. The mini crème brûlée cups were to-die-for! This was a graduation party, so all the food, while prepared by the restaurant, was ordered by our host. Everything was truly excellent and I am already planning to dine here the next time we are in the area, which I hope will be very soon!

Has a great atmosphere, nothin like you would expect from a normal chophouse. The filet mignon was GREAT! It cut like butter and had great flavor to it. Mashed potatoes are a must as well. It is a little on the pricey side but that is to be expected when you go to any chophouse. Definitely worth spending the extra money. Check it out!

It is an excellent steak house. I have been to Roast, Texas Road House, Ruth Chris, Outback, Ocean Prime, and Morton’s steakhouse. i think this is one of the best steakhouse compare to other steakhouse that I have been to. It only offered valet parking $ 5.00 .no options for self-parking.:(… the service is excellent!.. I have been here for 3 times, every time this place provided exceptional customer service. Food is amazing!.. Appetizers: –Duck Confit… cooked duck meat with Brussels sprouts also mixed with pears and bacon. overall flavor and texture of dish is awesome. soft duck meat mixed with crispy bacon. Entrees: –22 ounce Rib-eye steaks. the steak is well-seasoned and the quality of meat is excellent. the best part this place’s steak beat other place’s steak is its house special steak sauce… it goes really with the steak –Scallops.I thought it is just alright. the scallops were too salty and I think it was not cooked well… I would not recommended this entrée Side: truffle fries. the portion is huge enough for up to 3 people… truffles fries are good but nothing special I love the steaks here!

Went here for our anniversary. I noted this fact on the reservation, no acknowledgement. Ordered the shrimp cocktail and was surprised to see Three medium sized shrimp on a long narrow plate, with a bit of lemon and sauce. Never have had a smaller shrimp cocktail for that price. I had Dover Sole which although cooked well was flavorless. My husband had Short ribs although the meat was cooked it was chewy, he left over ¼ of his dinner. Flavor was average. Service was good. Quite disappointed at an over $ 200.00 dinner.

Went here today for Birmingham Restaurant Week, and it was my first time here. I gathered a group of coworkers and we chose this place, since it’s a little closer to work and(we thought) had a lot of parking. First off, the parking is valet — I believe normally it’s $ 4, but today it was complimentary, maybe for BRW? They have like 4 – 5 «regular» parking spots but otherwise you must do valet. The food + service were VERY good here. I had the salad, the«natural chicken»(with gnocchi in a rosemary cream sauce) and the chocolate pudding. The portions were very generous for BRW and I’m still stuffed as I write this review, actually. Our waitress was very personable as well, so I wasn’t miffed that there was an automatic 20% gratuity for all BRW meals. My group at first thought this was because we were a party of 7, but I had spied that on the BRW menu before we ordered(so, even if you’re a party of 1 or 2, it’s still 20%). Worked out fine though because I probably would’ve given her 20% anyways. I’ve heard this place does an awesome happy hour, so I’d like to come by and try it another time too. It used to be a train station back in the day, and the structure is very unique, and decorated well, too.

Great place for an intimate dinner or a family dinner. My boyfriend and I set up a reservation for our 9 year anniversary on their open table site. We put in the special notes that it was our 9 year anniversary. When we got to the restaurant(which has valet) we walked in and was greeted right away. Our waiter wasn’t too bad, we had to wait a long time for anything that we needed though. My boyfriend got the $ 65 waygu steak and he did not finish it all. The waiter took his plate away and never came back with a box or anything!!! For $ 65 dollars I expect our left overs to be bagged up or at least given me the box. EXTREMELY disappointed at this point. So we order desert and the waiter brings out snickers pie for my boyfriend when he actually ordered cheesecake which was corrected right away. He had one bite left over on his plate with the cheesecake and was offered a box for that!!? Make any sense?! I will never be back to this restaurant. $ 280 later and I just wanted my left over steak to go.

I went out for lunch with my boss and another coworker for Christmas lunch here and was very pleased! The décor is very dark and a bit of a strange lodge feel, but not quite… how does one describe Décor that would incorporate a huge buffalo with wings? We were promptly seated due to our reservation, but had we not had one we wouldn’t have been able to get a table. There was also complimentary valet service, which was nice. We ordered our drinks and the bread platter came out for us. It was a yummy herbed and slightly doughy bread with some amazing tasting butter and a cheesy herbed cracker. I’m not sure what they did to make their butter so good, but I couldn’t stay out of it. One of the others ordered the squash soup with hazelnut cream and said it was very rich but tasty. Then for the main dishes we ordered the Grilled Salmon, Chicken Piccata, and the Aglio E Oilo. The salmon was nice and crispy on the outside and flaked apart perfectly on the inside and was atop a bed of lentils, asparagus, wine reduced spinach, and slightly roasted heirloom tomatoes. I was very pleased with the flavors and the complexity, but also that it wasn’t a super heavy or large plate. The Chicken Piccata was melt in your mouth tender with perfectly seasoned mushrooms, asparagus, and gnocchi. The sauce was very well balanced and I really enjoyed the prominent rosemary flavor. The Aglio E Oilo was the weakest of the three dishes as the pasta was a tad under done and needed more sauce, but I liked the freshness that the asparagus and other vegetables brought to it. The biggest downside was that we ordered it with chicken and the chicken was chewy and dry. I’m not sure why it was so much worse than the other chicken we had. Finally for dessert we all split a piece of peppermint cake. One of my coworkers really liked it, but I thought it was a bit dry and overly dense. Overall this was a good meal, and the deal of a starter, entrée and dessert for $ 28 isn’t too bad! I’d love to come back and have a few drinks or try some other dishes.

I came here for a baby shower yesterday, and was really impressed overall with my experience. It’s definitely a very nice place to come and eat at., and I really loved the atmosphere. Parking here is limited, but we had free valet, which made it easy to get in and out of. I don’t know if that’s normal, but it really made a difference. The staff here is really friendly and involved. Some of the servers seemed a little more experienced then others, but overall a very positive experience. The food was awesome, and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. I ate the flank steak and it was perfect! my co-workers went with the chicken and salmon, and we were all very happy with our food. The staff was a bit slow on drink orders, but it’s part of the course when you have a huge group of 50 like us in a private room. We felt like the staff handled things very well, and overall a great experience. I tend to be a little more critical of places like this because it’s definitely a nicer restaurant and more of a special occasion place to me. Not somewhere you eat every day.
