So, me and the misses decide to go here for dinner on a Monday. Minus a party in the dinning room, we were the only people in there. Keep in mind that the mentioned party wasn’t ordering any food. The décor of this place is painfully random. You’ve got the dining room that is just a plain white room with tables and chairs. Then you’ve got the bar area that looks like a bar you’d see at a buddies house. Finally, the third part of the building looks like my grandma’s house, on top of that, it isn’t being used. Speaking of my grandma, this place smells like her house. Keep in mind, my G-ma has a bunch of cats.(No offense, Grams, love ya!) Not a good first sign. So, we get seated and get menu’s. Let me tell you, the menu here is painfully small.(2 pages, maybe?) So, we order a cup of their red beans and rice to share as an app, then I get what is labeled on their menu as the«best burger in town.» My gal gets the famous steak sandwich. Was a bit annoyed how much we had to keep repeating ourselves to the waitress, but she seemed nice enough. We receive the red bean and rice first, as it was our app. I let my girl try it first, being the gentleman I am! XD She tried one bite and said, «Yeah…I’m good on that.» I tried it myself and it was just… awful. Probably the worst red beans and rice I’ve had down here. The sauce was wayyyy too thick and you could tell they burnt the bottom of the pot they used to make it as it had that taste to it. Not to mention the sausage in it tasted dry and super duper not good. Wouldn’t be shocked if this came straight from a can. After a weird 25 minute wait,(Remember how I mentioned we were the only ones getting food?) The owner(?) brings out our food. Let mention here that this guy is the only reason this place isn’t getting a one star. Very polite and good to talk to. Wish his food held up that well. My burger was very bland. Not sure how else to put it. Maybe a bit dry? I don’t know, just that feeling you get when you know that you can cook the same quality of food at home.(I’m awful in the kitchen, FYI) I got a small amount of Steak Fries which surprised me. Sorry, but if I’m paying almost 11 bucks for a burger, you can spoil me a little on fries. These fries were obviously premade frozen. Which, I know I know, most places do this. But, most places at least shell out the money for the better tasting ones! My girlfriend literally took a bite of one of the fries and put the rest back on my plate.(Which, admittedly, was kind of funny)(She’s gonna kick my butt for writing that) Her steak sandwich apparently wasn’t much better. For waiting 25 minutes, you tell it was sitting for a minute back there. The grease had soaked through all of the bun and on to the plate. That obviously didn’t effect the taste of the food, just shows our food could of came out faster. Still, she only ate half of it. Just as bland as my burger. I really hate to give poor ratings to small places like this, but they need to step their game up. I’d shake up the menu, which wouldn’t be hard considering it was barely 2 pages of food. Hire a new cook. Won’t be coming here again.

Had their famous steak sandwich and it was very good. It came with a side and I chose the potato salad which was good as well. Love trying local restaurants when out of town and this one a good choice.

You can choose to eat in the nonsmoking restaurant but they vent the bar through the restaurant so you may as well sit in the smokey bar. My food was decent, my wife’s was awful.

Not bad food. Not amazing. The atmosphere insides leaves much to be desired. The inside is an ugly brown color but the people are nice. The crabs dip is always a hit at my table. The burger is good and many adults are shameless to order the chicken tenders as they are pretty good. And the plate is large. Again the décor is awful but overall not a bad place to eat.

It felt like I should have seen Ron Burgandy drinking scotch in between jazz flute solos. That’s how outdated the interior is, BUT the food is phenomenal. Definitely a pleasant surprise!

We decided on a simple lunch at Bernie’s. Time seems to have passed the place by. It is dingy and dark. It smells like an old motel. It is just not a pleasant place. We really don’t look for upscale or fancy, but Bernie’s needs a face lift and new carpets and drapes to get rid of the old smoky smell. It appears to be a smoky bar with a dining room attached. Our lunch food was fine, not spectacular. Admittedly light lunch is not a serious test of the menu. Ms T had a salad with lemon pepper grilled shrimp over cow lettuce. The lettuce was fresh and crisp and the shrimp were pretty good. My fire cracker shrimp were supposed to be spicy. They had good shrimp flavor, but no heat. They were OK. My gumbo was even better than the good bowl I had at Blow Fly. It had a little heat and was not overly herbed. The Roux was medium and there was light tomato. I rated it very good and would certainly order again. I give Bernie’s three stars for our experience and this is influenced by the feel of the place. They deserve another try for dinner to test the menu more fully.

I’ve been here a few times and will continue to come back. Everything I’ve tried has been amazing. Huge, delicious hamburgers(they don’t have pickles though, which is disappointing), great chicken sandwich, and my most recent favorite is the seafood gumbo. Desserts are amazing. Staff is very friendly. Trying the fettuccine tonight!

I eat out quite a bit and I’m amazed to see that biloxi still has some hidden treasures. a friend of mine invited me to try it out and man I’m so glad I woke up to grab lunch that day. The tuna dip there was amazing and the best part was that was only the beginning!!! I don’t want to over hype the place but this is a must visit spot for a casual lunch to a nice spot for a date.

I LOVE the food here. The steak sandwich and the Reuben are amazing. The smoked tuna dip is one of the best I’ve ever had and the gumbo is only second best to my grandmothers. Great prices and the staff is amazing.

The smoked tuna dip is phenomenal… the best I’ve ever had. A few of the other dishes have been hit or miss and at times the owners seemed a bit grouchy but overall my experiences their have been good. The menu is versatile featuring a variety of traditional american fare including beef, chicken, fish and pasta. The vibe is laid back, the local crowd friendly and the servers accommodating and pleasant.

This is a long established business in Biloxi and I don’t know why it has not been reviewed till now. I am not a mall rat so I really kind of forget about Bernie’s being by the mall. I used to eat here more frequently than I do now. It is most well known for their steak sandwiches, yummy. My son was in town recently from Austin and we had to trek to Edgewater mall. I asked him where to have lunch and he suggested Bernie’s. We wanted light fare so we split smoked tuna dip for appetizer and then we had a bowl of gumbo. The dip was wow and the gumbo was true New Orleans style, very enjoyable and highly recommend both dishes.
