Sam’s work is exceptionally brilliant. I am also a certified massage therapist and have studied and worked with Sam at Esalen Institute and Am fortunate enough to get to trade with Sam when we are both there. As experienced receivers of bodywork Sam and I both value a higher standard and quality of presence, intuition, understanding of anatomy and clear communication.
Sam excels in each area and his work is quite different from mine. I know for sure I did not want our session to end. He knew many very effective moves I had never experienced, especially when he worked on my wrists and arms. He was extremely effective in providing lasting relief from chronic pain I’ve experienced in my neck and right shoulder. I’m presently healing from an injury in my hip and wish I could hire Sam for multiple sessions if only he were near Stanford. If Sam is in town, don’t hesitate to call him. He is the massage therapist’s massage therapist, and a kind, loving, brilliant and creative artist among many other attributes.

Sam is the best massage therapist I have found in the LA area! He is talented in providing comprehensive body work and always worked within my comfort level to provide deep myofascial release and increase my flexibility. As an active person, with scar tissue from old injuries and a clumsy streak, I need a therapist who is not only knowledgable about the body but knows how to treat acute and chronic muscle tension. Sam’s deep knowledge of the body system and natural sensitivity made him an incredibly effective therapist and the results from my months of getting work from him are fantastic. I should also add that as a woman who loves heels, I have done a number on sacral/​gluteal area and hips. Sam never once made me feel embarrassed or uncomfortable and worked the knots out like a champ.
He’s spending time in Big Sur and I’m not sure what I’ll do without him. Excellent body work is a hard thing to find!

Massages are one of the few things I splurge on. I get them more often than most and have tried most different styles.
It’s been about 2 weeks since I got a massage from Sam and I am still talking about it to my friends. My 90 minute massage was by far the best I have ever had. It was absolutely divine and perfect.
It was extremely therapeutic and productive for my achey back and such a relaxing experience on a whole. Sam has excellent intuition, knowing the areas that need work solely through touch.

I had a great massage with Sam. He was very friendly and made me feel at ease. I have been having left-​sided muscle tension for awhile now and was hoping to feel more balanced. The day after my massage I noticed that my body felt more centered and my muscles overall felt more relaxed and in alignment. For me, what I look for in a good massage, is an overall sense of well-​being afterwards and not just a temporary relaxation. This means that the the knots of energy that are stagnated have been smoothed out, and therefore my energy flows more freely. This was my experience with Sam. He is very intuitive and found all the tender spots without having to have me point them out. Overall it was a great experience, and i would recommend him to my friends.

He has a great, calming energy. Very receptive to feedback and makes you feel comfortable. He’s also quite skilled in his technique and was able to alleviate a pain I have had in my shoulder for years!

I had a really great experience with Sam. His presence is very peaceful and he has a nuanced understanding of muscle and knots. He listened to me and was responsive to my requests for more or less pressure and just a smiiiidge to the right/​left/​up/​down. I definitely would recommend Sam to others!

Sam is the absolute best! I have now seen him twice, most recently after having a headache that lasted for 3 days. After our hour-​long session, I felt dramatically better, and by the next day the headache was completely gone. Like magic. I really cannot recommend him enough.

Sam is an amazing massage therapist. Following a sports injury, my neck and shoulders were locked and painful. He was able to quickly pinpoint where my tension was held, release it, and when I asked he thoroughly explained to me the theory behind the technique he was applying. Regarding other issues with my hips, he first loosened them and then showed me some yoga techniques for daily upkeep. The yoga and explanation of the massage made this far more than the average bodywork experience, and I will certainly be going back. He is also a very friendly person. Highly recommended!

I just had a massage with Sam and it was sooooo good! I loved all the different techniques he used. His techniques were off the hook! My favorite part was how he massaged the different parts of my body with slow movements. I felt like I was in heaven. I could feel my muscles getting looser and looser. He also used some interesting techniques that I have not seen in a massage therapist. The pressure was perfect and he did awesome neck work. My neck feels so much better now. I can actually move my neck. Thank you Sam! I will be back for sure!!!

I’m sitting here trying to find the right words to describe the best massages I’ve ever received. I have received several massage from Sam and WOW. Its more than a massage its an experience beyond anything imaginable. He dances with your energy and send your soul on a cosmic ride to tranquility. I had the pleasure of working with Sam on the east coast and was very sad to see him move to the west coast. I do not want to have received my last massage from Sam so I decided that a flight across the country would be worth another massage from him.

I have received probably close to 1000 massages, if not more. I was immediately engulfed in the quiet stillness of Sam’s powerful, yet accessible, presence which relaxed me pronto and allowed me to sink into a deep healing experience. He left pressure open to dialog but there was no need. He intuitively moved from area to area with pinpoint accuracy attending to my bodies (and soul’s) needs that day. This stands out as one of my all time greatest bodywork experiences. I had to write a review when I saw he was opening his own practice in Oakland. If I lived in Oakland you would have trouble getting in with him bcz I would receive from him once a week AND give his massages to all my friends and family as gifts… so he’d have a wait list. In fact I am allready figuring out a way to get a massage from him when I do my yearly visit to my friend in Corte Madera, CA
