This was a good spot for lunch. We all enjoyed our food. I had the pulled chicken sandwich. Yummy! My 6 year old loved the chicken tenders. He is an expert — he’s 6. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. We will be back when we are in the area again.

DOGFRIENDLY! fish tacos were very good. The conch soup and fritters were nothing to brag about. Service was ok. Ok place to stop in a pinch but i wouldn’t return.

Poor service. Walked in with an almost empty restaurant, 1 table in fact, and it took 15 to 20 minutes and we only got served drinks. Waitress brought our waters and iced teas that she almost forgot and said she’d be back to take our orders. She then proceeded to clean a table in the empty restaurant and asked the 1 table that was already served how they were doing. We walked out. The food may be delicious, but we’ll never know.

We ate here on our last full day of vacation. We were the only table in the dining area(I’m not sure how many people were in the bar area but I know there were some) Our server was very friendly– maybe over friendly. She loved talking to my 2 year old and kept telling us how much she wanted grandchildren. She was a nice lady. She seemed a little scatter brained for only having one table, i.e. she took our drink order one at a time(there were 5 of us) and just took a long time to bring back our drinks, come back to take our order, etc. We didn’t mind though. I ordered a cheeseburger and it was good, someone had the philly cheesesteak and he said it was great! Two people ordered two different pot pies and BOTH of them absolutely hated them. They each had one bite. One said there was way too much cajun seasoning on it(he had the duval street pot pie) and the other said it tasted like lemon cleaner?! I didn’t try for myself– I took their word for it! As time went by, the dining room filled up and trying to get our server’s attention grew harder and harder. Still though– we understood. All in all, I would say food is average and service is average– 3⁄5 stars!

I usually at least check Unilocal for a review or two before I’ll choose a place to eat, especially in an unfamiliar area.(Plus, I’m indecisive as hell.) But my Sprint service was acting up, AGAIN! So… we didn’t know much about this place ahead of time. We’d just rolled into town after a very long, completely unplanned drive. We were super tired, a bit cranky, and would have probably even eaten a NASTYAZZ McDonalds burger… if there was nothing else available. But because this was an unplanned getaway, we were super tight on cash.(I’m frugal by nature anyway.) So we agreed to order a «not-as-expensive» item from their menu. We eventually decided on the Sloppy Dogs. And then, at the last minute, we decided to add on the Lobster Bisque to our order. The Sloppy Dogs were fabulous. Yes, it’s just a chili and cheese hot dog. But this had amazing flavor! No complaints there. However, the Lobster Bisque was so so so bland. Even a little salt and pepper couldn’t rescue it. Tossed it into the hotel garbage after only a few bites. Would not that order again. I do think it’s a locals bar as we received a bit of staring and long glances upon entering. However, we live in a small beach area now and the locals DO stare a bit… until they’ve seen you around and know you’re not a «tourist.» But despite the fact that we weren’t local, we weren’t ordering drinks, and we had ordered to-go food… the bartender was nice and accommodating. It was small and a bit crowded inside, so I wouldn’t want to eat inside there. But on our next trip down, we may have to stop in and get their Sloppy Dogs” to-go again!

Springer’s isn’t horrible, but there’s just nothing exceptional about it. I got the fish of the day with a side of asparagus. I wasn’t overly impressed with the fish, it was bland and could use some seasoning. The asparagus on the other hand was pathetic. It was the skinniest smallest asparagus I’ve ever seen and was so over cooked and shriveled up that it looked more like a garnish than a side. I tried to eat it, but it was like eating grass. The waitress was too busy talking to customers at the bar to ask us how the food was. We had to call her over to tell her about the asparagus. She agreed that it looked bad. She let me order a different side. I went with the sweet potato fries, which were decent, but didn’t come with anything to dip them in. Overall, neither the food or service is great, so I wouldn’t recommend them as a must visit restaurant in the keys. However, if you’re just looking for some place close by for a quick bite to eat or some drinks at the bar then this could be a decent choice.

Came here for late lunch on Saturday afternoon and it was wonderful. Had the lobster bisque soup, fish tacos and the fish Ruben. It we all really great. I had to stop my self from eating and took home left overs. The sweet potato fries were amazing too. Our waitress was nice too. Would come back again.

Love this spot! Make it a point to stop for lunch every time we visit The Keys. Best blackened mahi sandwich! Especially loved that we got the inside scoop on where to spot the elusive Key Deer!

Little home town place needed to turn on the air conditioning. An opened door did nothing for the air flow or the flies. It was ridiculously warm in the stagnant eatery. The food was delicious however. I had a huge hamburger & waffle fries which had a good texture & taste. Not too greasy. Not too dry. I couldn’t finish mine but I sure tried. My husband had the fish Reuben made with Mahi Mahi and he loved it. Large piece of fish and tasty rye bread. His fries were crispy and he devoured his entire plate and said it was just the perfect amount. Pleasantly surprising with good service and decent prices.

The food is mediocre, the atmosphere akin to a school lunchroom rather than a restaurant. They have some unique kinds of pizzas but other than that it’s the usual, unremarkable far.

Really more of a 3.5−4, but I rounded up for the service and food itself. The place is really unorganized and understaffed, so the waitresses were working way too many tables and our food took over 40 minutes to get to us. That being said, our waitress really was trying her best and took care of things, and the food was almost good enough to compensate for the wait. We had the Duval and Springer’s pot pies, a meat lover’s pizza, and a veggie burger. The burger and pizza were both pretty good, but the pot pies were excellent. tl;dr good food and decent service, but really understaffed and waited really long for food

Average keys grub. After you eat hear go south a few streets and turn right to see the key deer. Dinner time is best!

This quickly became our favorite place in the area. The food is great and the staff is amazing. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. They have a good happy hour too. There are a lot of locals there that welcome you into«their» bar. We have been back several times during our trip. Definitely worth a stop.

We loved this place! We ate a couple of meals here on our trip to the Lower Keys. This us truly a neighborhood bar… Lots of locals. They have a nice sized bar and serve their own beer. For lunch we had the mahi tacos, which consisted of two flour tacos(the shells were baked in the oven and were crispy) with fried mahi fingers on top of shredded cabbage. The cole slaw which comes as a side is good and is made with pineapple chunks. My husband got the lunch special, steak rojas, which was similar to the Cuban staple, ropas viejas. We went back for dinner and had jalapeño poppers as an appetizer, the fish rueben with sweet potato fries and the Duval pot pie. I had the fish on the rueben lightly blackened with provolone, instead of swiss. It is made with coleslaw(with the pineapple chunks!) instead of sauerkraut. It is mildly flavored sandwich, not as savory as the classic sandwich. The pot pie was something to behold! The piecrust is a croissant-type crust. This dish was definitely savory– with a slight kick. The Duval pot pie had shrimp chicken and Italian sausage in a creamy creole sauce! Very tasty! The jalapeño poppers were just what you expect– spicy and cheesy! Even though they had limited wait staff on hand we had great service– shout out to James, who made us feel like locals!

Small little café just over the 7 mile bridge Great Meat Pizza! Fried Green Beans were yummy and the Cajun Chicken Wings were great! Service was good and everything was Clean! We didn’t see anything come out of the kitchen that didn’t look great!
We chose this place after a long day of kayaking based off Unilocal Reviews. When we walked in there was only one couple in there eating so we were seated right away, but the bar side was hoppin’. Our waitress was quick, friendly and on top of everything. I had the Duval Pot Pie and my boyfriend had the traditional chicken pot pie. Oh my gosh! I wish I had pictures because it was amazing. It was home made and the puff pastry was so light and flaky it was great! It was HUGE though, a couple could easily split one of these and a side salad and be more than full. I could not eat the whole thing even though I wanted to. Mine had a spicy sauce, Italian sausage, chicken and shrimp and was unlike any pot pie I had before but was amazing. I will go back to this place just for that pot pie! If you chose this place, don’t forget to Check in for a 5% discount!
