Craving some authentic Mexican food? This is the spot! Being a San Diego native, I have had my share of Mexican food. When I moved to big bear I had a hard time finding a great spot until I came to la bamba ! Great food, always fresh! Great service ! The owner is always so sweet & friendly!

This is real Mexican food. The only problem is that there is just one waitress and one cook, so your order may take a little bit longer to be done, however everything is cook in real time which makes the food more tasty.

By far, the BEST authentic Mexican food I think I have ever had. So glad I finally decided to give this place a try. The three salsas they serve you with homemade tortilla chips are fantastic. The owner is really nice also. We will be back again & again!

Just ordered some food from here, pretty annoyed by the lady who took our order.
We wanted an all asada burrito and she told us no, alrighhtttyyy? So my boyfriend ordered a different meat for the burrito and asked if he could have his cheese inside the burrito other then on top and she said it would be extra. um really? The cheese it already came with would be extra to put inside the burrito, and then she says «its going to come how we make it. Its too co fusing for the chef» i didnt know it was confusing to put the cheese in the burrito then on top. SO RUDE!
Ive NEVER been told that as a customer. If youre providing a service, you dont tell the costumer something like that.
The food wasnt really that great either.
Wont be back thats forsure.

As I was leaving the chaotic Big Bear village to avoid the crowd of people, I turned on to a small side street just to get around traffic. We were hungry but had decided to just head down the mountain when we passed this place that had everything we had wanted earlier but couldn’t find. Uncrowded with an out door eating area where my dogs could lay without bothering anyone. Mexican food always sounds good so that was a bonus. The waitress was super nice and attended to us immediately. We placed our order and our food came out in a timely manner. We were very happy with our food and for some reason their ice tea tastes REALLY good to me so refills on that we’re appreciated. Love that this place is off the beaten path and the service and food were great.

I’ve been coming here for the past 4 years and have never been disappointed. My favorite is the Carne Asada Torta– this bad boy is always cooked to perfection. It’s not as big as some tortas I’ve had but for under $ 7 it’s well worth every penny. The chips are really good and their green sauce is so fresh I swear they must have a garden in the back. Try some. Friendly staff and right in the village. This place is definitely worth checking out!

I was driving the roads behind the village in Big Bear and discovered this wonderful restaurant. The service and the food was great. I tried the tortas and they were very good. I do not live to far so I will have to come and check out other goodies on the menu.

Bullshit. If I could give 0 stars I would. I’ve never eaten a burrito like a taco. I’m 155 lbs I don’t eat much, but this place is skimps so much I’m now going to jack in the box to fill myself up. W T F I want my money back

5 stars because this place is amazing! The food is good, authentic, and flavorful. I hate bland mexican food, and that is not an issue here. I could eat the chips and salsa all day. The owner and staff are so friendly, and this place is life BEYOND clean. I was really impressed, especially since this place looks like a hole in the wall.
Big Bear is known for its other mexican restaurant, Hacienda, which is gross unless you are ordering their american food, or a bottled beer. People just don’t know about the delicious little mom-​and-​pop shop that is La Bamba. Try it, if nothing else. So good.

Difficult to find but totally worth the effort! I had the shrimp taco combination and they are delicious! Lots of shrimp! This place has the BEST refried beans that I’ve ever tasted. The green salsa is delicious :) Do yourself a favor and definitely stop here!!!

Usually the staff at any restaurant are disappointed when you walk in 5 minutes to close. But not at La Bamba. The attitude was great, the food was fresh, and the conversation was engaging. We got it «to go» and were very satisfied with the food. We will go back when we are in Big Bear again.

La Bamba has new management and a new menu. I’m a local who’s enjoyed many lunches at La Bamba over the years and I’m happy to report that Elena, the new owner, is serving up some even tastier Mexican meals. I’ve tried the carne asada burrito, the chile verde, and several styles of the enchiladas. Haven’t had a disappointing meal yet, and I’m recommending that others give the restaurant’s offerings a try.

Went here tonight because other well rated restaurants had a 40min+ wait. Guacamole was a little light on the avocado but was surprisingly good.
I got a chicken enchilada and a chile relleno. Both were quality Mexican but nothing that will blow your mind. Bathrooms were clean and waitress was nice. Would definitely come back.
