My friends and I were in Big Bear this weekend for my best friends birthday. We were looking for a place nearby to eat and I found this gem on Unilocal. We arrived and were seated quickly, our server was so nice and very helpful. Usually people give you a hard time when you ask to split your check but she didn’t, she was super friendly and made sure everything was good during our visit. The food was amazing as well, I got the chicken fried steak and it was delicious. We almost wanted to go here for breakfast again the next day but didn’t get a chance too. But if you are in the big bear area I highly recommend checking this place out.

I had the Wall. The eggs were good and no one broke my yolk! Staff was friendly and attentive. We went around noon and there was no wait. The only thing I didn’t like was the coffee, it was pretty bad I stuck with the water. I would return but avoid the coffee.

I really appreciate great and authentic service and this place is just that. I ordered the waffle with fresh blueberries(not the canned corn syrup variety). The batter resembled a Knott’s Berry Farm funnel cake and was nice and soft. It seemed like my plate was topped off with extra bacon that was cooked to a crisp. Can’t wait to go back and try the other dishes.

The place was filthy. There was a human hair inside the salt shaker. YESINSIDE! The walls where as dirty as I’ve ever seen. There was bloody boogers on the wall in the booth we sat at. the food was over cooked. I had the«pork chops» it was as dry as Death Valley! I couldn’t tell the wait staff from the people walking around. no uniforms. Just street clothing. The TV was held up with Zip ties. Food was being stored in the lobby. The waitress was smoking a «E cig» behind the bar right next to food and drinks. The creamer container was on the table when we got there. it was full of salt!!! NOT a funny. The place was a mess. missing baseboard. dirty windows. don’t get me started on the restroom. The owner was more worried about her bottom dollar then putting it back into the restaurant. As you can tell… I WILLNEVEREATATTHISPLACEAGAINNORRECOMMENDEDITTOANYONE!

The food is absolutely amazing, but the service was really really horrible… we showed up after a rush so there was only a few tables left we were a party of 5 and we were all half way done with our breakfast by the time we got our drinks. I didn’t think water, oj, and milk took so long to get. Maybe they were squeezing the oranges and milking the cow.

The hot apple cider was so good! The massive pancakes with blueberries were superb! Staff were friendly enough. Parking is ok, it’s shared with other businesses since it’s in a plaza. Might return

If you don’t want to have to wait for 2+ hours at Teddy Bear or Grizzly Manor and still get great diner food, come here! They also accept card! WOOHOO! We got seated right away during Christmas weekend and got our order in. I ordered the Monte Cristo and it was probably one of the better ones I’ve had, if you can believe it! Decent powdered sugar on the top and a good portion of dijon mustard. The service was okay. We had the whole café waiting on us but it was fine. I honestly wasn’t expecting much at a hole in the wall diner. And they surprised me! Definitely will keep this on the list.

I brought all of my family(14 people) in for the first time. We got seated fast, course it was a week day and ordered fast. Kim(waitress) was awesome, got every ones orders correct and still broke up the check, awesome! I got the«sissy avalanche» more the enough for me! My wife got the pancakes, wow, huge!!! Very fluffy and thick, she only ate half of one. Everyone else really enjoyed it. I’ve lived up here in the past and have always favored«grizzly manor» or «teddy bear café» but I think I have a new favorite. Awesome place, awesome staff, thank you!!! Love you guys Germ!!!

Enjoyed a nice family Christmas & decided to stop for bfast on our way down the hill. We had a party of 11 but we were quickly seated. Although the drinks took longer than usual to come out the food was out in under 10 minutes without any hiccups. The food was great as well as the service.

This is one of the best breakfast places in big bear! We usually eat at grizzly manor or the teddy bear but they are always to long of a wait and we have a 4 year old. we got right in and the service was fantastic! They ordered my sons breakfast right away and made sure he was the priority! We will absolutely be back here again… the food was amazing!

We’re in the Big Bear area at least 1 – 2 times per month, and have been looking for a good breakfast joint up here for awhile… found it! * No complaints about service. The restaurant was over half-full, we were seated promptly, offered coffee, and our order was taken quickly. Staff was genuinely pleasant and seemed happy to work there. Coffee was refilled regularly, and was delicious. * I ordered the breakfast burrito, my hubby ordered the Avalanche. The portions were huge, so we each ate half and saved the other half for breakfast the next day. I see that as 2 breakfasts for the price of one. Our food was delicious. * The comfort level/ambiance was just what we were looking for. The lighting, the décor, spacing between tables, temperature, background music… all very comfy. My hubby’s only complaint was that the staff occasionally yelled back and forth to each other across the room rather than talking, and we prefer«quiet» — but nothing too different than what we’ve experienced other places. * We like that it’s not a «cash-only» restaurant, which is common up here. * Easy to find, easy parking, good location. Highly recommend! We will most definitely be back!

Since I can’t give half star reviews, I will round up and give 5 based upon the service and speed in which they noticed a potential problem. So this place started to get a review that was headed towards terrible… we were sat quickly and given menus to peruse. We were left then for over 10 minutes without any other contact(it wasn’t that busy and there were 3 servers on duty). The server covering the next table noticed our faces and the pending displeasure and she quickly took our orders and had our food to us in less than 5 minutes. To start, the pancakes are so large and thick that they could be considered in the realm of «small to medium sized pizzas». Very fluffy and delicious. Chorizo and eggs were good with salsa and the tortilla, hash browns were cooked perfectly and have some concoction of spices that make it great. Overall, we will come back again.

Loved the enormous pancakes! Couldn’t even finish half of them between two people. Our waitress asked if we would like a to go box for our remaining pancakes — she said«nobody ever finishes these».

Just had a fantastic breakfast here with my hubby. They have a great selection for breakfast and lunch and it all has that home cooked feel. We came in and had some rude customers using very foul and abusive language and we almost left but I didn’t want the restaurant to be harmed by bad behaviors of customers. Hubby and I wondered if we were on some hidden camera at first. We realized they were about ready to leave so we held fast and got a fantastic food. I loved they had healthy options for me. That’s always my biggest struggle. I can’t eat really rich high calorie foods. And they also have wonderful café style foods that my husband loves. Waitress was a doll. Just so sweet.

I heard alot about this place so I went this morning for breakfast, ordering the Avalanche. Service was fast and friendly. The dining area was clean and comfortable and the also have outside tables. Coffee was excellent and the Avalanche was quite filling and very tasty. My only complaint would be that it was not served piping hot. I should have sent it back for a 45 second blast in the microwave and it would have been perfect, but regardless it was still delicious. I would opt for«The Mess» at the Grizzly Manor over«The Avalanche» at Grind and Grill, but you can’t go wrong with either. Both are good. Grind and Grill has free wi-fi which is a real bonus. Just ask for the password. My reasoning for 3 stars verses 4 was cost. Breakfast cost me $ 18… $ 10.99 for the Avalanche, $ 2.49 for coffee, $ 1.08 Tax and $ 3.44 tip. I will be back, but will be sticking to the Specials that are posted in the window. A burger, fries and coke special I believe was $ 6.49 and a breakfast burrito was $ 4.99, prices available only during certain days and hours, I think it was weekdays.
