My friend and I rented a kayak and somehow it was super windy in the afternoon and we couldn’t kayak all the way back. Vaughyn has been really helpful as he paddled to the swim beach where we landed, and used his paddle board to connect to our kayak and pulled us back. It was a pretty long distance let alone the strong wind. Vaughyn is very nice and rescued my friend and I!

Got a groupon for stand up paddle boarding. DONT BE STUPID. Rent a Wet box to keep your belongings dry and SAFE! Thanks to the young lady who told us a story of a woman who tipped her kayak over and lost her purse filled with $$, I decided to rent a box for my stand up paddle board. I thought my fanny pack would do, and I’ve never fallen off a paddle board before till that day in the lake. I fell twice (no big deal it was just a little choppy and I just lost my balance) and if it weren’t for her suggestion, I would have lost my phone to water damage. Thank you! $ 4 to keep your stuff dry and intact. Seamless experience.

This is a review for their SUP/​kayak rentals. This is the second year in a row I’ve rented from them. Their staff is super friendly, and for less than $ 20 an hour you can rent either a SUP or kayak with a two hour min. We had a big group down at the small beach down the street, so renting a couple of each and playing around for a couple hours makes for loads of fun.
This year we were surprised to see a dock with the kayaks and SUPs already on the lake. No more carrying!
So you need to first go to their shop, fill out paperwork and give a card. Then it’s one block and down a small dirt hill to get on board. Make sure you paddle out of the small marina and then– enjoy the lake! Staff was very friendly and very helpful with tips on the winds and currents and where to go. We had a blast!
Oh yeah, and checkin gives you 15% off. Their boards and paddles are in awesome condition.

What a great business! All of the employees (Kayla, Von, and two others) were very friendly and helpful. Had a coupon for a two-​hour kayak rental. I will be back again — coupon or not:)

So yeah I really messed up bad. Like really bad. I drove all the way up to Big Bear and was about to start snowboarding when I realized my horrible faux pas. I left my snowboarding boots at home. *SMH*AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Well this shop was on the way to the parking lot in town so I popped in rented boots and went for a day on the mountain missing on about 30 – 40 minutes and the prime parking I would have otherwise had.
There is a Unilocal check in offer for 15% off your rental. I suggest that you use it instead of just throwing your money away. But hey if you have money to burn…
The whole rental experience is always sucky to me. However at least this one went quickly. What was bleh was the slow checkout. They had one lackadaisical gal working the register. I swear she had no speed but ultra super slow.
At least they decided to give out free kind bars to all of us in line.
They also sell all kinds of overpriced ski gear. But Yeah I am not going to buy random jackets goggles or gloves at a place like this.
The rentals were a bit higher than rock bottom but not that expensive. If I screw up like this again, yeah I would return here. However, I hope to never make that mistake again… *SMH*
Ohhh well its worth stopping at if you need to get some snowboarding gear.

The staff here is great. They were really helpful and friendly. My girlfriend and I had already paid for our bike rentals and I asked if the 15% discount was applied because I had mentioned that I had seen them on Unilocal.They instead let us have our bikes for a few extra hours without charge. We even rented kayaks from them the next day and they gave us the 15% discount on that. I’d come back here for some ski/​twintips rentals in the winter. The prices on their site are ridiculously lower than what I’ve paid for rentals back on the east coast.

My boyfriend and I rented bikes and kayaks from Getboards and had a dope experience. The couple that works there gave us 15% off each time and were super helpful in terms of where to site-​see. Parking is easily accessible, across the street in the church parking lot.
I noticed they even let canines ride aboard the kayaks, so if you’ve got a pooch who’s down to ride, bring ‘em out!

Our boys Von and Julian made this super fun experience for us. Nothing else i can add about this place but just that if you looking for a place to rent stuff and be treated like a family member/​friend this is a spot to go to.

THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH. The guys here were so helpful in helping us get our bikes and kayaks. They even gave us a discount since we had a large group of 17 – 20 people. First of all, it was my first time kayaking and the two guys at shore showed me everything I needed to know! After coming back from kayaking, they even let us change from our wet clothes. What kind people! Lastly, our group planned to have a lunch BBQ at a local park, but we couldn’t because we weren’t allowed to have charcoal. Although we were suppose to go biking on the trial at the park, we called the shop and they happily said they would drop off our bikes at the house. And for the surprise, they let us keep the bikes until the next morning! Like who does that!!! These guys are amazing and I wish everyone goes to them for rentals. They are understanding and will make sure you are satisfied.

Hands down the BEST PLACE for renting ANYTHING for Big Bear fun!
We tried Cabins4Less and the lady couldn’t ad correctly and had to give me money back twice and it still wasn’t the right amount, and I had to do the math for her… DO NOT GO THERE
We rented tandem and single kayaks during the summer to enjoy in the lake, but we had never used kayaks before, the staff was very friendly and helpful showing us everything we needed to know and helped us get started.
Also they have half season special sales and we were able to buy our own kayak for half the price!
I would recommend Get Boards to anyone!

Great store! Bought my teenage daughter and myself new snowboards and gear. Adam was awesome! He was very knowledgeable since he is a pro. He was also very courteous and took the time to answer all my questions. I rarely buy stuff without thorough research but I felt comfortable trusting his recommendations. Glad I did. We boarded the next day and both love our new boards. Thanks again Adam for your honest and genuine advice!
Overall they carry quality stuff and prices were great too. Took advantage of their end of season sale. Very friendly staff. I rented equipment for my wife and other kids and that service was excellent also.

Michelle was great! The staff is very knowledgable and friendly! They really did a great job setting us up for our first trip snowboarding. They had some really good deals! So would definitely recommend anyone coming by and getting your gear here! Can’t wait for the next time we come out here!

I stumbled across this place on Unilocal.I was planning my first ever ski trip, and I was intrigued when I saw all of the great reviews. I decided to stop here before my first foray into skiing.
Everyone was very friendly when I went in. I told them it was my first time skiing and they were very helpful and patient while fitting me for skis, boots, poles, and a helmet. Prices were similar to what one would pay at the actual ski slopes.
What I definitely noticed was the gear I rented from Getboards was of a far higher quality then they offered at Snow Summit. There was a huge difference. The stuff rented at the mountain looked really cheap, whereas the stuff I rented from Getboards was name brand and totally comfortable.
My first time skiing was a painful experience, but it was certainly not the fault of the gear I rented at Getboards. I would definitely go back.

Quick and easy. $ 2 insurance for the boards to cover any scratches or damages and malfunctions out on the ski resort. (They will come to you if your snowboard or skis malfunction)
You can rent clothing, helmets, skis, and snowboards here. They have 2 locations within walking distance of each other, so if you don’t find a jacket, pants, or helmet in your size, you can just walk down to the other location.
The employees were very helpful. No hassle.
Drop off was quick and hassle-​free. We were in and out in a max of 15 minutes.
I would definitely come here again.

My husband and I dropped by here to get his broken binding fixed. They had several guys with their heads together on it and it was fixed in maybe 15 – 20 minutes? They only charged him $ 5, too. They were extremely friendly and helpful and we enjoyed browsing the clothes and things while we waited. Parking was easy too. We would recommend this place and really loved the staff.

Snowboard rental was easy and surprisingly affordable. Nice employees. Great place with a lot of gear to buy or rent. Returning was simple, they have someone out in the parking lot to help with that. No complaints and will likely come back here among all the other rental stores in Big Bear (and there’s a lot of them!).

the only thing is — the process is kinda slow. there were like 10 people lining up for getting gears, another 10 people lining up to pay
they could try streamlining the process so people could get out as soon as they get their stuff

We love getting geared up at Getboards we have been coming to them for any years now and they always have what we need except today was a close one since a hundred kids came in yesterday they were running low on kids bindings. The boss Spencer was great he took over from the kid that was helping us was Jack or Zack that was a little bit unorganized.

Everyone is super helpful and the location is convenient for all the ski resorts especially Snow Summit our favorite. We’ll be heading out for the night session there. I went here on one of the busiest weekends of this season to rent a board and some clothes (not my idea).
I got there and they were basically all «rented» out and there were no clothes available to rent. I took a look at their store and basically ended up spending $ 450+ for a jacket and pants.
The service here is pretty darn good and the employees seem genuine. Just unfortunate having to spend more then I was expecting at the time.

The service was great and the bathroom was clean. It’s a little walk from the lake, but being in Big Bear Lake is worth the walk and more.
The only thing is that the area for Kayaking is very small — unless you would like to venture further and run the risk of catching a tide wave from the boats — your kayaking experience is more of spending leisure time on the lake.

Best deal in big bear on kayak rentals. Especially with the 15% off check in on Unilocal.My hubby, me, and our doggie enjoyed our tandem kayak very much. The sales staff where very friendly and explained the process clearly to us newbies. Plus it’s right across the street from the lake so that made it super convenient. Next time I’m in BB I’ll definitely come here for all my rental needs. They also rent bikes and of course all the snow gear you can imagine!

This place is GREAT! I loved the friendly face and service here. I had a 15% discount card from Marina Resort and this place was walking distance from there so I dropped by.
I rented the bikes for 2 hours but got 2.5 hours. Then 15% discount was applied and water bottle was provided to my gf and I. What a perfect way to promote their business haha.
The bikes we rented looked new, clean and most importantly it was fun. We took the scenic bike routes and it was good work out that’s also fun.
Only downer was that you can’t really get the view of Big Bear Lake because the community pretty much owns the «pretty» part of the lake and well, you’re not allowed on private properties so. It’s still worth getting on those bikes though. I would have tried the kayak if I wasn’t so tired. Yes, I was dead tired and my butt was sore after only couple hours of riding :(
