Farmers Market just opened for the season this week. The produce did not disappoint! Strawberries are very sweet, and the blood oranges were a bargain. We had the al pastor burritos from the Mexican food vendor, and these were fabulous! The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the venue did not have any picnic tables or indoor seating available so we could sit down to eat somewhere. We ended up going out to the car and tailgating it. Looking forward to next Tuesday already!

This is a terrific farmers’ market with lots of interesting food vendors and many home craft vendors. The food is outstanding and quite varied, from cheese to backyard melons. And, all of the vendors were welcoming, helpful, and congenial. This is a must-stop if you’re even near the area.

I like this farmers market, but as usual there are many non-farmers selling from boxes bought from wholesalers. This produce is poor, and they should be banned from selling here. These are the first four stalls on the left. Everything else is great

When we are in Big Bear on Tuesday’s we try to make it a point to visit the farmers market. First of all, if you do not arrive early, the parking is very difficult. While the market is at the convention center it actually is in the parking lot, taking up about 75% of the parking lot. There are a number of vendors with fruits and veggies, often with heirloom or varieties of vegetables not often seen. We have certainly enjoyed some of those. The produce does always look fresh! You can sometimes find dried fruits, various types of nuts are always available. Several honey vendors are usually there and I believe one of the honey vendors sells honey produced right in the Big Bear Valley. If all the little trinkets are your thing, you can spend hours looking at those too, I could care less. Big Bear Coffee Company is there and you can get their brews and several other coffee vendors are usually on site. Since caffeine is my drug of choice, I appreciate this!

After living in downtown Culver and being spoiled with an amazing farmers market, this is the next best thing! The vender is great! Amazing smells and competitive prices. There are all kinds of discounted clothing booths, bags, belts, pictures, etc. the nuts and dried fruit vender gives very gracious samples with reasonable prices. It was nice to see a Watkins body care vender, their lotion is amazing. There is a variety of fruits and vegetables available and the white peach vender was a very sweet man who was eager to give away whole peaches as a sample! The prices vary so if you find a vender you like stick to them. It would’ve been nice to have more organic options. The Mexican food stand was very popular and the prices were right. There was a tea stand, very tasty and a Hawaiian shaved ice truck that had a consistent line and good prices. It’s a great farmers market.

Love the fresh fruits and veggies!!! Was informed by one of the vendors that he leaves Santa Maria with all the berries on Monday night at 11pm, stays at a friend’s house in LA for a couple of hours, and leaves at 5AM to get set-up by 8:30AM for the Farmer’s Market. He then packs up whatever berries he doesn’t sell and leaves for Long Beach at 1PM. WOW! Suddenly, the berries just tasted 100 times better! I sure appreciate these hard-working vendors who bring us delicious, yummy goodies! Keep up the great work!

When it comes to a great farmers market there are a few things I look for: 1. Bathrooms– when you have kiddos no matter where you are you always look for bathrooms! At this farmers market the bathrooms are inside the convention center: clean and big enought to accomidate a large crowd. 2. Selection– I enjoy arts and crafts as much as fresh produce. This farmers market had beautiful strawberries, quite a few local honey options(which helps with my husbands hay fever in the mountains), a couple meat & egg options, jewelry, jams, and clothing. 3. Parking– althought it is crowded, I found quite a few empty parking spots. 4. Friendly– everyone was friendly, helpful & made for a wonderful experience.

The farmer’s market is the perfect place to pick up fresh produce in Big Bear. They are open Tuesday mornings from April through October. Vendors even offer samples of fruit which my 8 month old loved especially the peaches. The hummus booth has a delicious selection that my fiancée is very fond of as well. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is upbeat. A great weekly family outing all Summer long!

Awesome, bought some amazing cherries(6.00), peaches and nectarines(2.00lb), a cantaloupe(2.00), celery(2.00) and carrots(small bunch, 1.00). Strawberries(2.00) and some wonderful bread from Bread Bar(all the way from El Segundo). This market was right at the end of the street where we stayed in our rented farmhouse. Lots of free parking and you can bring your dog too.

This is a small farmer’s market but totally worth visiting. I spend my summers in Big Bear and go to this farmer’s market every Tuesday. I get such fresh produce and it encourages me to eat healthier. There is one stand that only sells berries and they are ridiculously fresh and last forever in the refrigerator. There are also a couple of bread sellers with delicious products. All in all a great place to shop for healthy food for your family at very reasonable prices.
