This place has gotten consistently 5-star ratings, and from a certain perspective it deserves those 5 stars. The prices here are ROCKBOTTOM, the produce and the veggies are SUPERCHEAP, and there is no larger selection unless you are willing to hike it over to the asphalt consumer nightmare where Market Basket sits. And even then Trans is cheaper than Market Basket. Since I never cook asian style I cannot attest to what they all have for Asian goodies, but just for run of the mill fruits and veggies, Trans is awesome. Oh, and they have chicory coffee, which reminds me so much of my time in New Orleans, gotta pick up a can of that. Here is the rub, and why I give only three stars. A lot of the stuff that you get at Trans is just on the verge of going rotten, whether you are talking cheese, veggies, or fruit. It looks perfectly good, then you open the fridge two days after purchase and the cheese has mold on it, the zucchini is bleeding, the pears are all brown. This has happened to me countless times, so when I go there, I only pick up things that I know I want to eat, like, that night. If you live in Biddefuhd, no problem, but be warned. There’s a reason why the stuff is all so cheap here!

This is my favorite grocery store to stock up on all the sauces, noodles, and ingredients I need to prepare weekly dinners. It’s really clean, well organized and very competitively priced. The veggies look pretty good and the fruit prices are cheap. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Veranda is closer to Portland, but I haven’t been back after finding Tran’s in Biddeford.

Okay, so I’ve lived in this area for almost 6 years and I’ve always driven by the Tran’s Market but was honestly not sure about ever going inside. Today, I tried it for the first time and I was completely blown away. This place is amazing. Great produce, great prices, great people! I can’t say enough about it. I came home with bags and bags of fruits and veggies for only $ 24. I could have stayed in there for an hour to look at everything they offer!

This place is definitely a diamond in the rough! The selection of produce is amazing and the prices are unbeatable. They have a ton of different sauces and spices as well as frozen selections such as spring rolls and noodles. I love this place and will continue to be a loyal customer! This place is definitely as good as it gets!

This is a hidden gem! Their produce is so cheap you can actually afford to eat healthy! Don’t let the outside sway you from entering. They have very inexpensive fruits and veggies as well as some great Asian cultural dishes! I love the array of spices too!

The bomb. Dirt cheap produce and a big selection of Asian foods. Parking can be a bit tight but this place ia great. A cute family run business with wholesale prices.

It’s been three and a half years since I wrote my last review of Tran’s and it’s just as good as it ever was. Everything else has changed, I moved to the area, the new Market Basket grocery store is shaking things up, and yet Tran’s just keeps on going. I have never bought anything at Tran’s that didn’t work out, though some of the produce labeled«Today’s Special» needs to be used soon after you bring it home. Whether you’re living in the area or just visiting, Tran’s is a place that you don’t want to miss. But a quick note about the parking, it’s tight unless you’re willing to walk down the street and it’s pretty easy to accidentally block a neighbor’s driveway if you insist on parking close. Try not to do that.

Just an awesome store! Fresh produce at great prices. They have a wide selections of Asian groceries, a great plus for me. Their frozen section include fish, ready made appetizers(egg rolls, Chinese dumplings etc), brands that I usually have to go to Boston for, shelled shrimps, frozen dim sum that you can bring home and steam. They also have a cooler section that include cheese by the pound like blue cheese that you can add to your salads, milk, even Indian nan bread. Love this family local business! I choose this any day over the big supermarket! Too bad it’s not near my home.

This store has a wide variety of sauces and condiments for Chinese and Japanese cooking. They stock mostly LKK(Lee Kum Kee) brands for sauces, and the standard kind for Japanese as well. Asian snacks are available, I saw a lot of produce, but not so much in the Asian variety for veggies. Lots of sauces and ingredients I typically buy in Boston/NY C-mart is available here. They even have preserved duck eggs(thousand year old eggs), the brown cane sugar in the long flat sticks, the rice flour you need for turnip cake. Frozen dumplings, frozen Chinese noodles etc. I haven’t really compared the prices really, but from what it looks like the prices aren’t too bad for it being in Maine. Of course things will cost more than in Boston, but it isn’t that much more. The place is clean, it smells clean and the place is pretty big. If you’re looking for your not so conventional Chinese ingredients that you cannot find at the local supermarket(Shrimp paste anyone?), you’ll find it here for sure. I saw lots of things I’m surprised they stock.
